I was a 13 year old girl when she did this. I was enamored of Carol Burnett, and this was the first time i'd seen Bernadette. I fell in love. We didn't have VCR's, so i had this Sears tape recorder that i held up to the TV to save this performance. I only saw it once (maybe twice), but i must have listened to it 100 times. I was so in love with her Gibson girl looks and her ringing voice. That sexuality she slathered all over the cuteness had a permanent effect on me. I'm SO JAZZED to find this!

Thanks for posting...Interesting to see Bernadette Peters in this song. But try as I might (and I have for years), I find her voice incredibly irritating, no matter what she's singing.

@HuckHuck96 She always stayed pretty busy. I do agree that she would have been great as Roxie but she did have many great parts and a lot of awards for her performances.

holy moly, this is incredible. a great number by a great lady, from a terrific variety show! i miss the days of extended wide shots with no quick-cut edits, so you can actually see the dancers and the dance steps. today's short attention span edits during musical numbers drive me up the wall (are you listening, "glee"?). thank you for posting this. :)
