  • Great footage...wish there was more footage of the Ronettes performing in the early-mid 60s. Surely, there must've been someone at the Peppermint Lounge with a Kodak movie camera.

  • LOVE the song... however, they look like retro drag queens! LOL

  • Their hair was so pretty! That style needs to come back. Better than todays pin straight flat iron look.

  • The 60's started with Elvis and ended with the Beatles and I could fill a phone book with all the great musical acts and songs in between. Anyone who thinks that the 60's was not the greatest decade of the greatest music ever does not know what they are talking about

  • Makes the Grammys so Grandma in the oldest sense when you see electric talent like this. Music to the bone! Thanks for posting the video. Adding 2 likes cos it's brilliant!

  • Phil's infantilism

  • wich one is wich?

  • im 15 this year and i remember hearing this in a movie...and its bugging me that i cant remember the name of the movie...grrrrrr

  • @TheBrittykitty1 Scorsese's Mean Streets? Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro star, brillaint film, brilliant song!

  • @bobbiedazzzler Well done !!!

  • アン.ルイスのカバーが聴きたい。

  • The Ronettes had one choreography set and three formations for their performances of this song. (Ronnie was either in the middle or either end of the group.) Their fans (and the fans' parents) loved them. The Ronettes performed and met their public with class. No mosh pit jumps, no stupidity. Just character and charm.

  • Now I know where Peggy Bundy got her hairstyle.

  • Very Cool Upload.

  • I was born in 1950 and well remember songs like this. The first thing I notice while watching this video is how the skirts are down to the knees, and there is no skin showing up top. You had to actually perform, to sing, and bring a new sound. The world is in the grip of something vile and truly evil these days. We don't care about each other and teach very young girls to be sexy. Money and sex. Let's lift our sights. I'm not religious. Just concerned.

  • @FunNotNuts

    I was around 15 when the ronnettes came on the scene and I was head over heels in LOOVe. I clipped the groups picture out of a magazine and carried it in my walle until it disintergrated. You are so right the dresses were knee level but they exuded sexy style. Oh to be young again.

  • 500,000 views a year....That's about 1450 a day....at 3 minutes each...4400 minutes....That means that at any point in time 3 people are watching this video somewhere in the world....24 hours a day!

  • Fuzzy video, Fuzzy audio, Great eye-rolls!

  • Super sound. Good memories!

  • I love this song

  • simply golden.

  • I was born in the wrong century

  • classic

  • Loved the song, but it seemed they never gave it much radio time. It only came on once in a while and when it did my eyes lit up...

  • This is our inheritance. So my mum tells me.

  • just brilliant. now gotta learn those chords...

  • This is my very favorite

  • now that is music, not like the usual crap we get today.

  • This is the best 60's song ever...

  • LOVE LOVE FROM FRANCE :)

  • Ronettes, Lady Gaga or Katy Perry..... no contest, RONETTES 4 EVA

  • born too late :(

  • wow, i could have mistaken them for three amy winehouses.

    i still think that the ronettes were great though.

  • @music7343

    more talent than three dozen winos

  • estelle was a fine piece of work in her time!

  • beautiful...

  • Keith Richards and Ronnie had a thing for a few years!

    You can see why!

  • REAL TALENT!!! Today's people have no Idea what it is. Except for The X-Factor. Simon don't play the Fake shit.. He will people in a hart beat. GET OFF MY STAGE.

    P.S. Ronnie looks like my First Wife.

    I'm just sayen..

  • las ronettes y los stones giraron por inglaterra en 1964, mick salio con ronnu y keith con stella.

    Luego keith comenzo una larga realcion con ronnie cuando los stones fueron a eeuu.

    The ronettes and the stones toured england in 1964. mick hooked ronnie y keith with stella.

    then keith began a long relationship with ronnis when the stones went to eeuu

  • here is where they come from Amy Winehouse's hair

  • @sart56 i said the same thing.

  • Ronnie!! What more could I say. ;~)

  • Stop the action at 18 seconds and see if you notice anything.

  • @Sheboggie1 what are we supposed to notice??

  • @Sheboggie1 i dont notice anything....just the host and dresses and legs...

  • Oh god were they hot.

    -bill

  • This and Heatwave, great songs!! <3

  • Regardless what anyone says PHIL SPECTOR is a musical genious!!!!! CHEERS!!!

  • Such a lovely song ! It is one of my favourites I never get tired of it no matter how many times I listen to it I wonder why such type of songs are not sung these days Modern music looks crap compared to these immortal melodies !!

  • klasyka

  • is that Diamondhead by the Ventures at the Beginning?

  • Was this Hullaballo or Shindig?

    and I think all on these shows all lip synced - don't think any were live

  • @sfbuddie : MC of the show said it was Shivaree.

  • I wish we could see more of the go-go girls in this vid !

  • Classic!

  • Estelle and Nedra never actually sung on the studio recordings of The Ronettes, only Ronnie sung on the recordings

  • Ronnie, Estelle and Nedra...what beauty, talent, and class...you will never be duplicated

  • Curt: The night we met I fell in love with you. By my baby, baby. Love, Carolyn

  • i love their hair do's....wo wo wo wo wo!!!!!

  • this is what i call music

  • the back ground dancers are hot too and ronnie specter is the only blacdk babe i ever wanted to do with she was hot then and and still is

  • The Ronettes are PERFECTION!

  • this is one the best POP songs of all time..if not the best

  • so beautiful and talented they take your breath away

  • In a class by themselves.

  • Unbelievably beautiful, young and successful. This video may not be the bext quality, but it conveys so much of the joy as this group started climbing the ladder of success. One can see why the Ronnettes were the only group that the Beatles invited to go on tour with them.

  • What a bunch of beautiful ladies- I remember before the hippie look took over ( which I liked too) all the hot ladies looked like this. Now I remember why!

  • I'm three year old baby from Tunisia and I listen to this song all the time. pls thubms up pls!

  • Some look back at these Musical venues, onstage concerts, etc and think, 'o how uncool, how unpolished.' But I say, 'what heart and soul, what genuine human emotion is exuded, where it seemed 'real' and people could still dream. Today's polished and technologically enhanced stagecraft seems so cold and sterile in comparison and unfortunately often hides something darker..

  • @jeff62rey Awesomely said man, i couldn't have said it better with 2000 characters! REAL is what we lack today. Everything from movies, music, tv is all so politically correct and all of it looks like it was made by a committee of politicians and financial accountants. Thats why its all so sterile.

  • @jeff62rey Wait,

    Aren't they miming?

  • @jeff62rey They are lip-syncing...

  • @jeff62rey The other day I saw a top comment on a music video, I'm not sure which, in which the commenter expressed his disgust and frustration at the baffling phenomenon of leaving comments about how superior your taste is on every music video ever. And it is so sadly true. And the biggest offenders are the lovers of the classics, the very people patting themselves on the back for having an open mind being elitist, entitled, knee jerk, self satisfied dickstains. Get over yourselves.

  • @jeff62rey You're watching the wrong bands play then. I and many of my other fellow musicians pour out our heart and soul while on stage.

  • simply amazing

  • these ladies are so beautiful and classy...they will never be duplicated

  • I am a Japanese. I listen on a radio for the junior high school era and am the song which I begin it, and came to like English music. Those days are begun to think to still listen for several decades by that.

  • Back in 1967, my friend and I tried to pick up the Ronettes when they were hanging around the Raven nightclub in Harrisburg, PA, where they had just performed. Even though they dressed and looked liked hookers, to their credit they blew us off like the nice Catholic school girls they really were.

  • The Wall of Sound lives!

    In YouTube, check out 'TIMEKODE (DENI)' and listen to 'WOW! I WANT IT' - great Spector-inspired trck by an English female producer...

  • "Ronnie" is in Her Middle 60's like me. Estelle has Passed Away, Nedra is

    doing well. I was in High School, in love with David.

    Hard to Believe this song will soon be "FIFTY" YRS OLD,

    & People are still listening to it! The "60's" Music will Never Die!

  • 1960,and I'm in love with Ellen,we are 14,and KNOW 'this is it',and this was our song.I'm telling you,some things are best left memories,don't touch them.Another beautiful love Pat,found me on the web. and after 50 years,WOW my love, little beautiful Patty,fine body and all,WOW. I get sent one of these 'studio' shots of some fat old lady with a skinny face and big pointy jaw.My God up in Heaven,who is this?That is NOT the Patty that I want to know,I am not in,bye.Past is Past,leave it be.

  • hermosas

  • The Wall of Scream

  • This has got to be the song that you hear in your head when someone says 60's.

  • Ronnie Spector has the cutest smile!!

  • considered by many people to be THE most evocative song of the sixties...

  • Timeless masterpiece .....

  • these ladies are effortless genuis....so beautiful and talented

  • Classic.

    One of the greatest songs ever.

  • There is a funny fact about this song, for those who loves movies. Martin Scorsese used it as opening and most memorable theme on his movie "Mean Streets". Lately, Dirty Dancing play it in its own ost. Lately, Martin Scorsese used Love is Strange, of Mickey and Sylvia, one of the most iconic songs of Dirty Dancing. Scorsese responded tit for tat playing this song in "Casino" when Sharon Stone character and Robert De niros have their first met.

  • @isaiaselcaco Every time that I hear this song, I ALWAYS think of the opening scene of Mean Streets. They go hand in hand. Possibly the greatest song of all time.

  • @LesbianVampireLover indeed i also consider this song very powerful in sound and exceptionally touching in lyrics. Few times beauty of love get so well condensend on a melody.

  • @isaiaselcaco **Few times because you don't listen to enough music.And a name like LesbianVampireLover is sending out what visual??? And how much status in time and space does it give the wearer of set name."0".

  • what a great group and they are honeys :) BG

  • Just like Eddie says "Be My Little Baby."

  • Ronnie married Phil Spector, now doing time

  • The night we met I knew I needed you so

    And if I had the chance I'd never let you go

    So won't you say you love me I'll make you so proud of me

    We'll make 'em turn their heads Every place we go

    So won't you please

    Be my little baby

    Say you'll be my darling

    Be my baby now

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I wish I had been born in the 60's and meet these truly talented & beautiful Ladies.. Their Vocals & Performances is Sheer Class unlike today’s trash selling the bodies to promote themselves!!
  • Sigh. Songs these days are about casual sex and not love
  • @littletimeuk That's far from something new.
  • They were classy Dames, you don't have to give it all away up on stage. Compare them to what the unnamed women from the present think they have to do to get noticed or top everyone else. It's sick and sad. There is such a thing as too much skin.Talent should be more than 60%. A little skin doesn't hurt though!
  • "Dirty Dancing" used this version! The "Ronettes" Yes it's my type of song. A 72 year old Catholic priest.
  • It always amazes me that Spector had this kind of talent in his grasp...and just wasted it there, in his grasp. The Ronettes should have been as big as the Supremes, who I don't underrate at all -- they were phenomenal!
  • that a hole phil spector is duing time now
  • remember loyd thaston.. channel 13 in L.A 1965
  • When did Shivaree premire?
  • BEAUTIFUL LADIES. SO TALENTED, DAMN!
  • THE HAIR AND DRESSES ARE BACK IN STYLE,IF THIS VIDEO WAS COLOR ,IT WOULD LOOK LIKE IT WAS MADE YESTERDAY
  • @Cashndoeallday I loved how the women singers dressed back then. Didn't need to show lots of skin back then. Not like now. They dress like hookers these days, in my opinion. I just love this.
  • @Cashndoeallday Yup this is the way i dress when i go out (((...
  • Lip synching waaay before britney spears!
  • @bocaknights1 Ricki Lake??? Where? I don't think so; she's fat and old!
  • @jennifersenn Have you seen dancing with the stars? She is neither and you're too judgmental.
  • @bocaknights1  Well, Ricki USED to be fat. But none of these ladies look like her anyway; they were in their early '20's here and Ricki is over 40. Kim Kardashian....maybe, at least she's pretty.
  • they were my favorite!!
  • :)
    Thanks!
  • I don't understand why the girls clap when they do, yet the audio/video are in synch.
  • @srercrcr They clap at the time they do so they can finish the clapping and then flow into the next move with out it looking rushed. They also time it so it fits in with the backing vocals.
  • Ronnie's hair style is back RIGHT NOW.
  • WHEW!......WHAT A SOUND. TOM D. BRICK,NJ. {AT THE SHORE}.
  • U.S. girl groups in the 60s were the bomb! The very best!
  • Yes. Amy Winehouse sent me here too.
  • even if Phil Spector is a totally a****** , he sure knew how to produce hit songs !
  • Simply the greatest song ever made. Best girls group, ever.
  • Oh she is so gorgeous, from what I read, Phil Spector was mean to her? why? why? why? her husband right?
