  • Im going to try a heat gun taking it slowly not to melt anything.

The panel cost me over $900 back in 2008 but now I can get more watts for $425 if I want.

I just hate to toss anything out and since it is making power who knows..might come in handy for school projects

  • So far this is the only video I have found that regards a broken panel... I just had 10 shipped to me and when they arrived, the glass on one was completely smashed like the one in this video.... Did you ever figure out a way to remove the broken glass? I have this thing sitting in my basement and am not quite sure what to do with it.... thanks...

  • The module is hermetically sealed to electrically isolate the cells, and to provide protection from the elements. Please seek advice from Kyocera immediately, and do not use the panel in its current form as you may be at risk with regard to DC arcing and other related issues. It is also quite likely that the golf ball caused hairline cracks or other related issues with your cells, albeit, EL, and/or IR testing would be the only way to test this with any degree of certainty. Be careful...

  • The construction of a c-si panel involves the cross-linkage of a back sheet (typically a Tedlar/PET composite or equivalent), a layer of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), cells, another layer of EVA and front sheet glass, 3.2mm for 72 cell 5" modules and 4mm for 54 cell and up 6" cell and larger formats. Through the lamination process cross linkage occurs between the back sheet, eva, cells, eva and front sheet glass, by way of the EVA melting under vacuum pressure lamination to create a hermetic seal.
