maybe a bit of a stupid question, but i tried using a drill and it wouldnt cut through the rivet.....what sort of drill bit do you need (masonry, wood....)?
as if you do need a drill bit for metal i will need to get one... :/ (feel like such a noob for asking it)
@iTehTunePawd The other side is squished when the center piece pulls on it, at the same time the nozzle of the tool pushes against the front side. If you look closely you can see before and after shots of the other side.
Extremely helpful. Before, I had a choice between using welding (secure joint) and screws (removable joint), but now I will choose rivets (both secure and removable).
subscribed and found it very use full, I plan to remove the hard drive cage on my case and add a radiator in the front of my case, also i'll be painting the case too. thanks MNPCTECH i've subbed your channel.
Yes, The computer gods smile with favor upon you this day LOL Thanks for the video and I wondered if you could get rivets in colors like black or how would hide them or blend them in with the color of you case?
I always thought the two surfaces had to be flat next to each other, that front bezel looked like it had a big space between the angle of it and original front bezel or have i seen it wrong?
could you use this technique for holding in a side panel window?

MegaJ0sh 3 months ago
@MegaJ0sh 1/8" size. the rivets are made out of aluminium, thats why the drill gets through.
try drilling until the cap is smoothened out. then take a pen or something and squeeze/pop the rivet out

what is the name of that tool he uses to mark the hole for his drill? (you press it in and it makes the notch for your drill to go in)

Nice guide, I'm sure this will come in handy for some of those who are intimidated by pop rivets.
The only thing I think you forgot to mention was the grip range, as rivets come in many different grip ranges.
Normally one would use a grip range of 1/16"- 1/8" for most cases. However if the metals are thicker than adjust your rivet grip range size.
Cheers

Especially pre-built PC cases.

No, their rivets. To remove a rivet you need to drill it out. Rivets are stronger than screws too.
