Just saw them last night at 123 Pleasant Stree in Morgantown, WV. Great band, they deserve to make it big! They played non stop from the time they went on stage to the time they quit.
I remember seeing these guys at UPJ in 96... when their big hit was cigarette. Man, a lot's changed since then. Now I hear there's a rumor they are breaking up? Man that sucks. They really bring the feel of the heart and soul of the burg' to life.
great song i wish this guys would go BIG like huge big instead of being a pittsburgh local band.. but anyways i seen these guys in pittsburgh in june and great show.. cheers from wv
It's only depressing if you think about it that way. Obviously something reminding you of 9/11 is going to be depressing, but still... It's about keeping your head up and looking towards the future. And as for the recording industry thing, well, people tend to like depressing songs in a twisted way because they can identify with them in a way.
its always amazing when there live, not once when i've seen them have they put on a bad show, aside from the amp's going out it was abso-fucking-lutly amazing, GO CLARKS! AND GO PENS!
Thanks for the background info about the song. Next to their cover of "The River," this is my favorite song of The Clarks. Just like seeing them live, they sound as good on this vid as they do on their CD. VERY underrated band.
I really like this tune .....i've wathched it on this website time and time again and now knowing when and why it was written i love it even more....thx so much for posting this Brit...The Clarks jam.
I tried to find the DVD here locally, i was unsucessful. I think i will try ordering it somehow. If you have time, would you check out my band? Go on Myspace and search Front Street Project. Let me know what ya think!! By the way i'm the drummer

This song was written the eveneing of September 11th after Scott watched all the TV coverage and felt the need to put something down on paper.

I didn't know that. This song has new meaning to me. I think my band will cover this once again. Thanks for the info Brit..

On the Still Live DVD there are extras where the band members talk about songwriting.
Scott explains the how, when, and whys of writing this tune.
