  • awesome! friend you could play the song "Broken Dance" (1985) of the banda SODA STEREO, keyboardist also played with the roland jx-8p, let me know if you want to do the video, a greeting

  • Does any one know if you can back up patches via sysex with this?

    im thinking of getting one

  • This synth is SEXUAL

  • There are too very underatted pieces of equipment to come out in the mid 80s. The YAMAHA RX5 DRUM MACHINE. AND THE ROLAND JX8P. I have them both olus a DX7. Now you have the classic sound of the 80s with those three.

  • i had a jx8p.. bought it in 85. thats when i realized how quickly i got out of control.. so i developed a slower style. i loved playing with the envelopes and getting the lows to roll up the wall. sadly my home was robbed. took my roland and my guild 12 string. you ever get the feeling your best friend who's strung out on crystal meth might have had a little something to do with that? well, b4 he was a victum of meth we were great musical pals..

  • Vastly undervalued synth.Good thing to because i could get one for 400e on ebay.

  • would love to get my hands on a PG-800 makes things alot easier doing things on the fly than going through a buncha menues to change your sounds

  • I love this synth. Just picked one up for $350 about a month ago.

  • 7:20 it's almost a PPG sound.

It was the only analog in my local music shop - besides a prophet and ob8 that aren't for sale - and I bought it almost instantly. 300€ best spent in my whole life. Soon I'll get hold of a BCR2000 that is said to be a valid substitute for the PG

  • @AspieKeyboardist

no you can all program without the PG-800

  • Argggh! I had one of these in college, with the PG-800. I was too inexperienced to appreciate it. Now I do all my synthesis with a Nord Wave & Stage EX. Yeah it does ALL the same stuff and more, but it's VIRTUAL analog (not quite the same). I think I'm going to bite the bullet and buy one of these off of eBay (with the PG-800, of course)...

  • @welchsa Did you ever get a JX8?

  • Any chance you could get hold of a Super JX (JX-10)? I'd love to hear a demo of one, as there's virtually nothing on youtube!

  • wow this sounds awesome. I have a JX 8P but I'm thinking of selling it because the keys need cleaning and I don't want to pay 80 bucks just to get them cleaned. but this video makes me want to hold on to it.

  • @culturaleyes

    sell it not!

  • @culturaleyes 80 dollars? while that sounds a little high its super extra strength worth it. anything you'd try to buy to replace it is going to cost you tons more , and wont be the same .

old synths are like old cars, you have to give them the classic treatment., because they arent going to make more... ever..

  • @culturaleyes clean that shit yourself, lazy bones!

  • @AgentCodyBankz ahaha, wtf, i clean my keys every week myself in 5 min, who pays 80 bucks to have their keyboard cleaned? LMAO

  • @AgentCodyBankz and on top of it, considers selling it when he doesnt have the $80 to clean it? What a moron, smh

  • Damn, the sounds at 3:40 pull at me. Those are real nice.

  • this is a really heavy keyboard!

  • No, digital samples don't sound this good.

  • Klasse. Wunderbar. Ganz wunderbar. Beste Grüße André ☺

  • @wolfiedmx

yes...it's MUCH cheaper than the roland ProGrammer...I recommend it.

  • @wolfiedmx

the BERRInGER BHC2000 works fantastic with the JX...and costs 1/4 what the roland programmer costs

  • retrosound72, if you have seen the Auturia Origin, do you think it sounds like the classic analog synths , cs80, jupiter,... whats your opinion?

  • @BlueIzzzs

the orgin is nice but real analog is real analog

  • @retrosound72 i agree digital is so harsh and thin. analog is fat and warm the best.

  • @wolfiedmx The programmer sure is sexy but I think I recall having read somewhere that you can actually use any standard MIDI slider box, it´s definitively worth to check out!

  • thank you

  • Wow...that is so cool. It sounds like an episode of Miami Vice (Jan Hammer, composer)

  • Yeah, great sounds! I love my JX8P!

  • I too! :)

  • great job

  • good review of the capabilities, do you really own all those synths ? :p

  • 1:42 = the beginning of Joan Jett's Bad Reputation!

  • geil:-)

  • DANKE

  • What are we looking at, price-wise for the JX-8P these days?

  • 250-350$

  • eksra sound 5*****

  • thank you

  • Very nice!

  • thanks

  • really nice demo. I love this synth, I have one and use it still a lot today... I really miss a Pg-800 :-(

  • thank you

  • Some lovely sounds in here.

    :-)

  • thanks

  • Excellent! Love your demos!

  • thanks :)

  • cause the pg800 is a bit rare and expensive, i only can control my jx8p with software...:) but it's fine too

  • hey the pg-800 are magnetic, I stuck one on my fridge door. hehehe.

  • It's a real rock synth.

  • excellent !

  • thank you

  • Yeah, 4:06 is the shocker

  • great sound! love the part at 4:06

  • Stab-Brass

used in Europe - The Final Countdown

  • this is the optional programmer pg-800 made only for the JX synths not a simple midi controller box.

    also for other roland synths JX-3P/MKS-30 (PG-200), Alpha-Juno/MKS-50 (PG-300) , MKS-80 (MPG-80) can you buy a programmer

You can also program this synth less the PG but it makes much more fun with it

  • The controller doesn't change or expand the sound capabilities of the machine, just make things simpler.

  • but why use the controller if you don't need it? in other words it's a pain in the ass without it

  • how much do these go for?

  • 250-350 $

  • You have done it again.

The sound that come from the Roland JX-8P are orgasmic. Totally beautiful to the extreme + Spine chilling!

  • thanks :)

  • orgasmic?

  • @real80smusic

Yes, orgasmic. The sounds that come out of this machine are more orgasmic than ANYTHING on this planet!

  • Lovely marko they very warm sounds i love them...:)

  • yes the JX-8P is very nice

    thank you

  • neat

  • Listening to this now makes me seriously regret having sold my JX-8P and PG-800 a few years ago for practically nothing! It's amazing... I posted it on eBay, and like nobody wanted it -- including myself, at the time! I'm still kicking myself. I'll never make that mistake again. I could REALLY use it now. What the %&§$ was I thinking?!

  • Hi Clark,

I think the JX-8P is not the best roland synth - he best is the JP4, ok? :)) - but I love these warm JX pads. No other synth makes these lush 80`s sounds so nice. With the PG-800 a absolute big standard analog synth for classic 80`s sounds.

    They're ridiculously priced.

  • do you own all these synths? it must be like a synth museum at your place :p

  • OMG Retrosound72 is like a time-travel machine and brings you into the world of synthesizers \#/

  • yes this is the message ;)

    thanks

  • Great sounds Marko, loving this!

  • thank you John for watching

  • Awsome demo! Gave me cold chills as usual haha. You must be doing somethinng right.

  • thx :)

  • Good lord! I need one of these.

  • Some of those presets sound exactly the same as the Jupiter 10

  • Spektakulär.

    5 *

    Robin :o)

  • thank you Robin

  • you are a genious

  • Fabulous sounds... :-)

  • thank you :)

  • Beautiful sounds !!! :)

  • thanks :)

  • another great demo. The JX-8P is a nice synth, especially with the PG-800.

  • indeed a very nice synth

    thanks

  • nice!

  • thx :)
