Pre April 77, Hackett is still with the band.....they were voted best live act in the world in 1978 when they were at their very very best and tightest!!!
Look Maaa, No sequencers, No sampling (beside the mellotron's tapes), No freaking lipsinking, No Justin Beiber, No Lady Gaga, No recordings, just pure talented musicians and excellent inspired music by one of the greatest bands of all time. Today's musicians, please, take some notes ...
The 48 landing lights that appear after when Phil and Chester do their drum duet alone is worth the price of admission so you can just imagine the whole light show for the entire concert. If its available on You Tube, see them perform "Ripples" during the 70's. I saw them in 1980 and to this day is still the best show that I have ever seen and the only one that reduced me to tears for its fantastic show and lighting effects.....and of course the music.
look up genesis live at the syria mosque on you tube and check out all the songs from there. the mix is fantastic, way better than seconds out, as you can hear hacket in all his glory, they didnt mix him out as they did on seconds out(admitted by banks).it also has bruford on drums, to which i give alot more credit, as up until then, havent heard him on many recordings...... enjoy
I am a bit young for the gabriel era and i got into genesis at this time - circa late 70's so this is as good as it gets - nice post. I think seconds out is the best thing they did and up thre with live and dangerous as per the live albums
@FrankGenesis En el 74 promocionaban The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, el Seconds Out fue grabado dentro de la gira del A Trick of the Tail el 77, saludos!

The only time Genesis was great without Peter Gabriel...what followed after was...embarrassing.
