The Mirage and F-5 suits the Swiss airspace quite well, It is rather old and lacks a lot of modern avionics and a sizable payload. But due to their political climate and stance , I think the Swiss just needs a simple easy to maintain air defence to be used to harrass and delay enemy movement, not for pure air superiority.

u know your speaking out your ass right... switz have out dated planes but fly low in high terrain.... an f22 AMERICAN can take on 20 individual f 18's which could destroy almost any other plane in the world on its own and the f 22 would win... look it up retard. a single f22 could invade any country and take on almsot every plane they ahd and win..

The F22 is notably weak on armament though. I personally don't like it. Having a stealth plane for air superiority doesn't work. The F22 raptor can only carry 2 short range missiles and 4 radar guided ones. An F18 (at maximum) can carry 6 short range heat seekers and four long ranged missiles. Both planes carry a similar vulcan gun, but hey its the 21st century, no good pilot ever uses his gun cause everyone is too dependent on missiles. The F22 has speed and manouverability but F18 has range.

Plus for an "out dated" plane, the F5 to this date still has the fastest acceleration and makes an accelent interceptor. The key strategy for an F22 is its Stealth and numbers while working close at hand with AWACs. There is no way this plane could manage to invade a country by itself unless u want....if the pilot is good...6 targets destroyed. Plus the F18 is an amazing all around air and ground fighter and the Mirage (if i remember right) was used by Israel in the 6 day war and kicked ass!

hey i cant find anythign there to disagree with you there. the f22 is still under development and currently is working an a very fiscal budget. no one can be sure out of military as to what specifications they are looking for but rumour is they are looking to double its missile capasity with a smaller faster shorter range missile that combined with the f22s electronic jamming/speed/manvouring ect.. will balance it out.

also if i could add the fact that the f22 as i stated earlier can take on any plane in the sky and win " based on current numbers, technical data, training excersizes in which the f22 part of a flight group went thru 6 days of testing, very plane had two lives and coudl continue to fight the flight group the f22 was in lost 2 plaens i think both non f22's and the enemy lost every plane they had, and this was using america jets as data i will do my best to find the article.

Ha im sorry to inform you the SU-37 Terminator would defeat an F22 in direct combat. The F22 has the advantage of stealth and that itself lets it get off a couple of shots at long range. However in a direct comparison the SU-37 can out perform the F22 in turning and acceleration. BUT the F22 with its smooth airframe can go waaaaaaaay faster..... at the cost of external armament. So basicly the F22 is a modern P-47, hit and run like fucking hell before they can get you.
