'Galloping round the cosmos is a game for the young' :D Yes this piece is it! Surely a clarion call and stirring anthem for the young and young at heart, yearning ere long for triumphant return to that ever undiscovered country - hence ever new - this classic gem, this sparkling hippy jewel, our beloved Star Trek. So dear life-cousins, 'Enlist in Starfleet!': Ancestors dream it, contemporaries wander wonder; But descendants shall see it true. So say we all!
What a Piece of Music. It Signifies Strength and Power. This is the Music Played when the Young Heroes and Inexperienced Rookies of the Film are Being Taken to their Ship Waiting at the Dock for the them. The Ship which is a Virtual Flying Fortress in the Story ,that will take them into Danger, Excitement, and Terror and Bring them Back is Non Other than the.................................Enterprise.
@GhostRyder1172 ehm i dont know if you actually listen to them.. but i just re-played those two songs (end credits and Enterprising Young Men) its definitly the end credits..
Actually, it is part of Enterprising young men, and a fusing of the end-credits. You are all correct about that. The first part reflects the end credits, but as it moves along, it reflects Enterprising Young Men. Now, the chorus was in the end credits. So, you see how it is fused. Very nice, still.
Back choir singers, front row, 3 front the right, light-brown hair... FIT :D
No comment on the music... epic has been said enough, but wtf is that violinist on front desk, right hand side, doing at 2:53?? Is that his first musical orgasm or what!?
Damn! You look at him go.. .a four beat march! We're mostly used to two or three beats at the max! When you get to 8 beats its just crazy. Look at his arms go directing that orchestra! The brass are like ON the DOT! everybody is. Damn!
Fantastic performance, and rather good sound quality for what seems to be a private recording. There's also a crane camera moving - is there an official recording of this event?
Best piece of bold film music since Williams' Star Wars cycle. I can't wait how he develops his themes (and incorporates original ST music?) in the sequels.
Superbe creation de Michael Giacchino la premiere piste de la bande sonore es aussi sublime que "Enterprising Young Men " ***** cinq etoiles et plus encore :) je suis un veritable acro de cette album
@rkmugen Amen to that : I've always like Star Trek soundtracks, but this one is by far my favorite. Giacchino managed to give Trek a new dimension of... awesomeness !
@rkmugen well the movie was a colossal vast epic crapfest but this music kicks ass. At least in this regard JJ didn't violate the Star Trek tradition as it has had the most intergalactic music ever composed the best being James Horner's score
I hope, despite myself, that ST '09 may sneak in as a Best Picture nominee at the Oscars with their expanded category this year (unlikely, but what the hell) -- I certainly expect, however for Giacchino's score to get recognition... one of the few memorable works of the year and my favorite.
Amazing... I would have laughed, cried and farted had I been there in person.. to see a live orchestral performance of this would have been both amazing and underwear ruining!
I;m telling you.. how can you conduct that and not get an erection!!!
This is the concert arrangement of Giacchino's new Star Trek main theme (which also serves as a theme for the Enterprise herself and Kirk), and appeared as the last part of the end credits suite in the film. "Enterprising Young Men" is a decidedly different cue, it just happens to use this leitmotif extensively.
