I urge every british citizen (subject) concerned with murdering babies under the age of one by their so called mothers to use e - petitions to reapel disgraceful Infanticed act . This piece of legistlation de facto legalized murdering babies by their female parents, radically deacreasing penalties ( eg. 35 hours of community service !!!!)I see it as expression of abominble sentiment that babies are property disposable by their mothers.I think people of conscience should do something about it.

If by "most" you mean "just under 50%" which isn't really "most" - then yes, opinion polls routinely show that. Opinion polls are also routinely wrong, and doesn't change the fact that the British public are idiots. There's a reason no major party are seriously considering the idea of leaving the EU.

Surprisingly the only polls supporting the death penalty are from right-wing newspapers like the Mail and the Sun, so you can decide how much faith you want to put in those.

Guido fawkes is full of shit, most of the British public are not 'regressive' as repeated polls show, and as for the death penalty, the MP is right when he says that all actual evidence shows it does not work in deterring people from commiting those crimes which it is intended to deter. Additionaly why should we lower ourseleves to the standard countries like Saudi Arabia have when it comes to punishment, especially when it doesn't work and, as the US shows, can even be counterproductive?

How many people would still support the death penalty when they've read the statistics that show it's more expensive and less of a deterrent than incarceration? 100,000 signatures only triggers a Commons debate. As the MP just said, they choose to ignore public opinion when it is considered to be wrong, which makes the e-petition a nice idea, but most probably a complete waste of time. A tacky way to try and re-engage public interest in politics following the expenses scandal.

There are 6,870 signatures so far, and he needs 100,000 before 4/02/2012. He should get 100,000 comfortably before the deadline. It will be interesting to see what the MPs do.
