It's amazing how all the pioneers of the defined musical genres we have today, like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin; all have so much talent. Just look at Bill Ward for example, an absolute monster on the drums, and he didn't even have any inspiration to take from, it was only the beginning of what we call metal. You would think that they would just start with a simple 4/4 beat at that time and base a band around that, but no they go all out.

Record companies and drums machines put an end to that unleashed creativity. If you want to learn to play rock music well listen to all the greats from the early days of rock.
