@stevenlu12 I didn't see the what he said before that... but the Colorado Rockies were an expansion team in 1991. It usually takes an expansion team at least 6 years to establish any sort of a decent roster and then another 6 years to establish any kind of competition. It's actually pretty amazing that they got the world series in '06 or '07 or whatever it was. You should probably think about something logically before blindly replying to it.

the umpire told everyone why he called holliday safe after the game: the catcher blocked the plate without securing the ball, resulting in an automatic call of safe, regardless of whether holliday touched the plate or not. however, i think i've seen plays where the catcher blocked the plate before securing the ball and still tagging the runner out?

Here's the final comment on this issue. Michael "sucker punch" barrett dropped the ball-doesn't really matter if holliday touched it or not. The ball was clearly out of the glove and over in the periphery of the camera shot, and barrett never went for it after h. was called safe, so even if he didn't touch the plate, he was not out.

I'm a Padres fan but I do admit the Rockies deserved this win. Atkins was ripped off and the Rockies outplayed the Padres. Holiday didn't touch the plate but he was never tagged out, therefore a win. Looks like the Rockies brought back that magic right now 11-0. Could become a threat to the NL West.

For those who always say the padres got robbed and it was a bad call, think back to earlier in the game when garrett atkins hit what should have been a home run but they ruled it a double, so if you want to be "fair" that game never should have went to extra innings. The holliday play makes up for it.

Know what would have made a difference. Winning just one little game against the Brewers. A playoff team wins 14 of 15 when it matters, losers blow leads in the 9th to sub-par teams when they could put it away.

Here's the final comment on this issue. Michael "sucker punch" barrett dropped the ball-doesn't really matter if holliday touched it or not. The ball was clearly out of the glove and over in the periphery of the camera shot, and barrett never went for it after h. was called safe, so even if he didn't touch the plate, he was not out.
