  • Thanks for sharing the video. I need to annotate the articles I read.

Is it possible to take handwritten notes on pdf files and save them on the document?

    Cheers

  • honestly, is it really worth 700 euros ?

  • well i paid in british pounds , but i get your point. it's really frustrating at times not to be able to use the best potential ebook reader in the market.but sadly , there is no professional reader right now on the market. for me , it was worth the money to use it until next best thing arrives.

    cheers

  • thanks for the answer , I am reading so many technical documents ( router specs, network topology diagrams , software design diagrams , etc... ) because of my job and I feel dizzy after long reading from computer screen, I am thinking about buying this machine but it seems to be pricy , my other concern is battery duration , may I know the duration of battery ?

  • well it's to my understanding , the best device in terms of screen size , resolution , writing-capability , open-OS. but this dominance might very well be short lived , since many 9 and 10 inch devices are rolling out early next year. i am still skeptic about how they pull the idea of ultimate reader off , but my suggestion is to wait for a couple of months at least.

in terms of battery life , it very well let you read for 2-3 heavy days , unless you start scribbling all over it , all he time.

  • I have the smaller device (Iliad) and I'm saving to get a 1000S ... of course it's worth the price. Think about reading DIN A4 (like magazines and scripts) pdfs in full screen

  • great video but it would be nice if you would also zoom in to it so that you can see the high resolution

  • I'm sorry but i don't know what do you mean by that , as far as resolution , these devices are more concerned with pixel density , and if i'm not mistaken , iRex has one of the highest. but this pixel density is more concerned with viewing a document without zooming , otherwise when you zoom ,you would effectively using less pixel density. if my explanation is vague in any way , please let me know.

    cheers

  • you should go near to the display with your camera so the people can see the high resolution for themselves ...

  • oh now i get it. well i tried in one of the other videos , but as you might have guessed picture blurred , because the camera has a focal point of 1-2 inch, for that to happen i need a much more sophisticated camera. but nontheless i assure you it's a very pixel dense display.

    cheers

  • oh man , the 1.7 is out? i'm somewhere with very limited access to internet , so i was left out of the loop. i'll head straighaway to MR and find it. thanks for the heads up

  • it is , in fact , it took a lot of time , but remember that this is a scanned copy , and the device has literaly have to load lots of JPGs . most important of all , the device was running on 1.5 OS , since 1.6 has been out , it really took DR to next level and lots of problems have been polished. there is a 1.7 rumor on the mill.

    cheers

  • Actually 1.7 is out already! (it came out... a month ago now?)

It adds a cool tabbar on the right side of the screen, and there is no more black border if the document is zoomed out.

  • it seems really slow to open.

  • ah isn't this the DR 1000s? since it has the stylus/wacom pen

  • yes sir , the other two models never materialized , since a good reader like this without a pen would be absurd and a device thin weak won't need wifi or browser , hence the other one went to bin too.
