I had Sedan deVille, same year as this car. It got 9 mpg all the time, but what a car! These are from the days when some cars were beautiful, not like today's stuff.

Oh man what a monster. i got an 89 de ville with 75000 miles on her with leather and all the trimmings. She is in nearly perfect condition with not a spot of rust and runs like a champ! I love the air ride suspension on the 80's deville feels like rollin on clouds. She is my every day driver. I eventually wanna swap the 4.5 l for a northstar or a small block chevy 350.

@lamiac2411 The 500 cid engine did come out for the 1970 model year but was available only on the Eldorado. The DeVille's had to make do with the 472 until 1975 when the 472 was dropped and the 500 remained until 1977 when displacement was reduced to 425 cid.

You can't compare any European car with this American beauty. It's a class of its own and no European car can ever compete with the style, the luxury, the comfort, the design of Cadillac of that era.

And besides from that...if the Europeans built a car of that size, weight and with this displacement...i bet ya they wouldnt even get 5 mpg. Cadillac - standard of the wordld even when you compare 30 year-old cadilacs with any modern european crap. These wannabe cars!!!
