To answer your question, my feelings about black feminism are hopeful.I myself am not black, but I am a feminist. I feel saddened to see that so many dismiss feminism as a kind of 'castration movement' against men.I felt so relieved to come across this video and hear your thoughts. I think black feminism is different, culturally, historically, ethnically from 'white' feminism, but it is just as important if not more so.Equality is important for all peoples. But fairness is so rare in this world.
I could not agree more. We need less of the uninformed garbage (to use your word) that so often comes up and much more willingness for research and thinking to unfold the ever-evolving theories and experiences of all humans. Thank you for your thoughts :)
you are very intelligent, strong and brave for saying this! continue you work. when me and my fried read the coments that you have gotten we got so tired. It shows that your work is needed!! thank you!
ok first off on history this girl has it wrong, slaves were long ago and then the feminist movment came. also why call yourself black feminists and not just feminists? also the race thing is over, same with equal rights. saying that why are feminists still around? im sorry but this is all redicoulus. the reason why the "black feminist" movment is hard to find ideals and movment is becouse there isnt any. its just a title and seems to be connected to hating men. why?
Excellent video!, we are currently living in a world wide patriarchy system, we black women are currently being oppressed and denied our Liberty all over the world, by the race of man, the race of black men are oppressors ,like all men; we need to fight Patriarchy it goes against nature and mother Earth.
@july95211. lol. bm r oppressor of who? this is the feminist bs (misandry) that drives me crazy. this y our population is declining & outbreeding. this way there can be no black people so bm cant oppress bw. hopefully that makes yall happy. because at least in countries like america we r dying slowly but nonetheless dying.
@mykole84 ,The race/seed of blakk elkekez ,( african) ''woman'' is eve,(eLe) , she has NO end or beginning, we don't come from man, we were here before Adam, adam,(the race/ seed of black man), is a hYbrid, the race of black man is black caucasian, he's NOT blakk elkekez,(african), man was NOT created by nature, so he's restricted by time, the black man is linear, but the race of blakk elkekez woman is circular, time is mere cycles for her, she was reproducing herself without a man originally.
@july95211. i thought i was arguing with someone with sense but when u said women were reproducing with out men and that the race of black men r from a different race than black men make me realize u r crazy. physically black women are made specifically for black men. there is a reason black men and black women look the way we do, because these are the beautiful features our ancestors chose. if the black man dies, so will the black women.and vice versa.
@mykole84 , There are 2 seeds on this earth, the kreator separated the ''womans'' seed/race from the man/satans seed/race, the ''womans'' seed/race is eve,(eLe) ,a klekk,(meaning black), elkekez,(meaning (african), woman, the black elkekez woman was here BEFORE adam. the race/seed of black man is a black caucasian, he's a soulless hYbrid, he's NOT blakk elkekez,(african); ONLY the blakk elkekez, (african) woman was generated by this earths evolution,(eLeLzLeez), ALL other things are artificial.
@july95211. somehow i came from a bw & bm as did my sisters. so black people come 4rm black people. i really have no idea what u r talking a/b. so destruction of bm will help bw how? r u black? ur man-hating is just out of this world. what is ur ideology called? u r 2 funny, i cant take u serious. is it called black lesbianism aka how not to have black kids aka black demograhic genocide 101.
@mykole84 So why is it mixed race people have better genes hardly ever get sick? Its best if people breed outside of there ethical group due to inbreeding..
@MissTeetowl. racial mixing is not black genocide. if all blacks mixed with whites that could be due to the fact we already have white blood and whites would absorb as our numbers are 2 small. so it all blacks mixed 80% of would not be affected. again i would like to see blacks in the future but we could possibly be absorbed by whites at least in the usa, as blacks have less kids and mix more. if it happens so be it but if it dont i wont be sad. fate is fate. systemic black abortion is genocide.
@july95211 LOL! How are black men oppressing black women? Look at the state black family, mothers are raising their children without the men and the result of it is chaos. So you got your freedom. Thanks Sistas. Bang-Up Job!! In the next go-around can you just keep the Abortions to Black female fetuses. Best way to stop a HATE MOVEMENT is via the womb of the Strong, Independent, Gov't subsidized black female?
@HARVESTDAY Thanks for watching the video in its entirety. Three texts for you to read in sequence: 1. Talking Back thinking feminist, thinking black by bell hooks (this will help you with critical thinking) 2. Sisters of the Yam:black women and self-recovery by bell hooks (this will help you understand something about black women) and 3. The text in the video called Black Feminist Thought: Knowledge, Consciousness and Politics of Empowerment by Patricia Hill Collins, will help your frustration.
Why read thesis of Hate directed at men/marriage. I know black feminist by their actions and vitriol against black men. Their reasoning is inconsequential. Results are paramount. And what your Hate Movement has conjured socially and legally is all anyone needs to witness. Black feminist dissed marriage, fled marriages in scores in the 70's and said NOTHING to this day about the Sole mother custody bias (87perc) of the Family Court since. You're the ENEMY.
@HARVESTDAY Based on your comments and suggestions to not engage with the material then my suggestion to you is to make the time to inform yourself. Feminism can be a very difficult topic for persons unaware of for example how feminism is spoken about in university seminar vs. a tabloid. If you have family custody issues you need to see someone who can help you because the purpose of these videos is to engage with the material being presented. The texts can be translated into audio form also.
And what it's done to our black communities. And don't worry about the Family Court bias promoted by black feminist. Few will touch the misandry and sexism involved in destroying the nuclear family so I understand the dodge.
@HARVESTDAY The reason why I shared the readings was to address to misperceptions with feminism, what you're frustrated with sounds like the branch of feminism that promotes hatred against men and that is not black feminism because it acknowledges for example how black men and women were exploited in slavery. The best way to talk about this stuff reasonably is to refer to sources to lay the context, something that happens in the black community. And there are heterosexual male black feminists.
Perhaps you can point me to the branch of Black Feminism that puts down the misandry of these radicals cause I haven't found it. And why would I delve into Slavery when marriage was strong in the black community up until the 3rd wave of feminist began attacking men WITH the support of black feminist. You will note it's been the same way since. Black feminist WERE real quiet while us black men were attacked often cheerleading and contributing even now. I'm sure your aware of this..
@HARVESTDAY what you should do is inform yourself, you have been given a fair number of sources and if you want to know more look at the sources cited in the sources, hope that helps you working through and understanding of black feminism.
You are members of a Hate Movement with a 40 yr. span of vitriol and legal mechanizations that have decimated the black community which is why your losing numbers in popularity/support/Gov't Funding (Thank You Conservatives-ONE LOVE). The rep proceeds your ilk. Which is why it's so rare to find a black feminist upset at the vile things said about our fathers (abandoned by the Divorce revolution of Black Women in the 70's and since), sons and men. Things change.
"And there are heterosexual male black feminists."
As I'm sure somewhere there's a Dog that "Meows". Don't mean he's admired by his peers though or that they're lining up to do the same. Especially when he spends his time dogging those proud to"bark". But as with all things somewhere there's a bitch loving him for it. And you know what? He can have that bitch. Cause those bitches can't stand the barkers. "Why follow his poor lead?" dogs will bark...
actually there is a children's story I vaguely remember about a fox that loses its tail in a trap. Ever PRIDEful, this obnoxious fox tries to convince the other foxes to chop off their tails so that it might feel better about himself.Of course the tail-less fox never explains to the other foxes why he really wants them to lose their tails. He couches it in a new felt (phony) pride. Reminds me of the mentality of male feminist/LGBT. No thanks, we foxes LOVE our tails. And our non-fluid sexuality.
@HARVESTDAY yes i realize that intolerance exists in the black community because there are members that learn how to question and not be guided like a sheep. regardless of the analogies one uses the most i can say to you is to begin to engage with the material. there is alot of information about including queer views. in my experience dialoging with black folk, black men in particular, they are very respectful and curious about the material and make the time to inform themselves, entirely.
Ummmmm, no. My sexuality is not shepherded. Though I understand why feminist/LGBT are so keen for recruits. I was curious about the material. So I looked into several black authors in the black feminist movement and I was flabbergasted at the hate of Black men/boys and the Nuclear family. And you know once your shocked, you gotta read more. How's your experience working with the recruitment process? Ya'll ain't doing that great (confirmed by other feminist-weekly) GOOD LUCK.
@HARVESTDAY nothing wrong with heterosexual male black feminists. you raise a good point that the community must talk about queer also amongst heterosexual individuals. black feminism teaches about systemic domination and these distractions distract us from focusing for example on poverty or unequal access to education or paid wages for the black male equal to the orthodox white male or paying a female surgeon the same as the male without a wage gap. the sources are a good break from the i'net.
When ya'll gonna get around to the bias Family Courts and Black Women stripping black fathers of lives with their children and children lives w/ their fathers. See, the truth is black feminist admitted quite early that the nuclear family and men were the enemy. Black feminist do their best to avoid this ugly truth however we see the results of the legal wraglings where they count most w/ black people- THE FAMILY. I would of NEVER got down with family-haters. Blk Feminist though...
@HARVESTDAY thanks for your feedback but it seems like you're on this page for something else, spamming and so on. this is a safe and inclusive space. just inform yourself because your comments make one wonder about the frustration of black men or someone fronting as an angry black man to mock the plight that black women experience.
Again, I am informed. And if their were something amongst your sources relative to my responses to your subject matter, I'm sure you would of quoted long ago. I stay on topic. And i'm damn good w/ the material/history and great w/ logic. And if you really thought I wasn't black I'm sure you would of said so earlier and/or would of abandoned responding. You know better.
@HARVESTDAY YOU ARE THE BITCH! IF A MAN DISRESPECT YOUR MOTHER AND YOU PROTECT HER IS THAT BEING A BLACK FEMINISTS? IF A MAN DONT SUCK DICK LIKE YOU AND STAY DICK HUNGRY EVERYDAY ON THE DAY. WHY ARE YOU BAAAAAAAAAAD ASS MEN SO SCARED OF A WOMAN WHO SAY I'M NOT GOING TO BE YOUR DAMN SLAVE. WHY WOULD A WOMAN WANT TO HAVE A BITCH LIKE YOUR BACK? YOU AINT NO DOG, YOU ARE A MUTT! TALK TOUGH BUT SCAREY AS FUCK. I KNOW YOUR KIND. YOUR KIND KEEP DICK ON YOUR MIND! FUCKING DICK JUNKY!
@JTRILEY1. a man protecting his mom is not a feminist, that a man and what he is posed to do. im a man, i disagree with most feminist stuff. not all but most especially the misandry parts and the support of the bias laws against men which feminist support u know the ones which seem to effect black men more even though they are being legislated by whites. its funny how that works. anyway a mom is more than a woman she is mom as is wife, sister, etc. mom cant be grouped with women u dont know.
@mykole84 ARE YOU TELLING SOUL BROTHER 2# THAT I CANT GROUP THE LOVE AD RESPECT I HAVE FOR MY MOTHER TOWARDS FEMINIST GROUPS! A FEMINIST GROUP NEVER HURT ME NOR EVER TOOK SHIT FROM ME. IF YOUR MOM WAS IN MY FACE. SHOULD I LOOK AT HER AS IF I LOOK AT MY MOM OR NOT! SHOULD I RESPECT HER AS I WOULD RESPECT MY MOTHER!
FEMINIST JUST WANT TO BE TREATED EQUALLY? HOW DO YOU DISGREE WITH MOST FEMINIST STUFF WHEN THEY WANT EQUAL RIGHTS? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT BROTHER MAN.
@JTRILEY1. i respect women as women but no i wouldnt expect u 2 treat my mom like yo mom nor would i ur mom. but i expect u 2 show courtesy and respect 2 her as i would urs. but mom goes beyond superficial (i dont mean fake, it just aint as deep) respect and love u have 4 yo mom. she gave u life and raised u and luvd u from birth so y would u treat any woman like ur mom. would u trust them w/ yo kids. black feminist & male groups need to cut it out and work on stoppin the gender war.
@JTRILEY1. as i said i disagree with most not all. equality on what merit or just 4 being a woman. man & woman cant be compared especially when serve 2 different biological goals but must unite 4 it 2 b complete. man & woman cant compete w/ each other b/c w/o one the other will not survive and the future is lost. feminist dont want equality they want take over b/c 2 them men have bin oppressing them. men dont suffer to them and thats sexist. what about reproductive right, false rape, etc?
@JTRILEY1. we aint =. = means the same which men and women aint nor will we ever b. we have our roles and they r different. would u treat ur mom like u treat ur dad. the answer is no, b/c they r different but the union of them bore u. u get it teamwork. without kids there is no survival, and blacks r doin a good job of not having babies (it sad we r dying outside and inside the womb). if men treated women like they do other men, what do u think would b the result?
@mykole84 Thanks for your comments and the dialogue is appreciated. One of the problems with understanding black feminism is to see how black feminism differs for example from white feminism. Your example of equality with men is what what white feminists wanted, however black feminists have slightly different interests. They want both black women and black men together to no longer be oppressed by social infrastructure like capitalism, economics, employment, family composition etc.
@mykole84 In relevant situations for example, black women are marginal under a system that justifies a wage gap, meaning that justifies paying men and white women more for the same equal jobs or concentrating black women in low paying jobs. Another example of patriarchy is a system that assigns women roles, that women must do certain things and not others. why is this is the case? Comes down to a power dynamic. A way to improve relations between black men and women is to talk about this abuse.
@lividkitten. until black america fixes its problem how we can we effectively deal with other groups. more patriarch immigrants r coming here & passing or replacing blacks in economics & population. black feminist has helped dwarfed our pop. & $. lets take a couple the man $8 and the women $ but now u have the woman make $9 but aint got no man. they got $12 while she got $9. $12 >$9 but most would rather go alone & make $9 rather than forming a group makin $12. just an analogy to some probs.
@mykole84 Patriarchy = abuse. In context of black feminism and more examples are in the texts suggested in the video and comments here. You are right there is a crisis in the black community with reproducing the race and building relationships of love, consensus and equality, but the term equality for sure has many suggestions.
@lividkitten. patriarchy isnt abuse nor is matriarchy. when its govt impose than yes. rite now we have govt imposed matriarchy combined with misandry. this society has all the features of matriarchy, lack of paternal involvement, low fertility rate, men helping with the nephews, and vulnerability to be conquered by more patriarchic groups as y matriarches are displaced. patriarchy makes men involves and seem to have higher fertility. so u have more father involvement and more babies. is dat bad?
@mykole84 the kinds of patriarchy that black feminism speak about is oppression and under that term there are different kinds of conditions that over represent women in conditions where they are marginal, i.e. low paying jobs, no subsidized day care, no accessible and affordable education for poor women because of things related to neo-liberal capitalism. In this example neo-liberal capitalism is an example of system of patriarchy that reproduces vulnerable conditions 4 including poor women.
@mykole84 with respect to your idea about reproduction and family in the black community a black feminist response would question the social supports for black families to reproduce while ensuring fair participation in for example the global economy. Is one income enough to sustain the household, and is that income from work that people want to do and not have to do. It's important to make clear distinctions about the kind of feminism one is talking about, sounds like you are talking about
@lividkitten. we both know there is strength in #s and we dont got them and the govt has been actively keep it that way. it wont change unless we force it. people do good only if the consequence of doing bad is worse. so blacks being a minority and a puny one a that we must up our numbers. we r in no position at the moment to fight the the fight we will lose every time but with higher # change would come a lot easier. the global economy is rigged and as it is now would work against us.
@mykole84 separatist feminist that believes in segregation from men. That is not the aim of black feminism because it looks at how the black man and woman and transgendered person from the black race are oppressed together by different social systems. It actually looks at strengthening the black family in your example according to black feminism texts. North American society under neo-liberal capitalism is very patriarchal and not beneficial considering the rise of poverty and poor women. There
@mykole84 are different kinds of feminisms and we have to make it clear that black feminism always looks at ways of empowering the black community. A black feminist position would say that consensus is the way to make decisions in the family and not because the man or woman said so. It would be nice to see a return to more solid black families without the worries of oppressions or assertions related to biology. Men and women should share parenting responsibilities for sure.
@JTRILEY1 most of 100 percent is 51%. actually, to be technical, most of would a be 50.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 i could've kept going til infinity with the zeros, but u get the point.
@HARVESTDAY. lol. but w/o bw there can b no bm. so i guess we r stuck 2gether. its not the women its the govt but the women do seem to be siding w/ the govt over their men but we as men should be attacking the govt not women. women acts irresponsible b/c there aint nuttin tellin them they cant. take away the anti-male laws will get their act 2gether and as a result so will women.
@anneofthearchives thank you for the compliment, that's what feminism is about networking to address including gender oppression(s). will take a look at the feminist video site. ;)

HARVESTDAY 11 months ago
@HARVESTDAY yes i realize that intolerance exists in the black community because there are members that learn how to question and not be guided like a sheep. regardless of the analogies one uses the most i can say to you is to begin to engage with the material. there is alot of information about including queer views. in my experience dialoging with black folk, black men in particular, they are very respectful and curious about the material and make the time to inform themselves, entirely.
lividkitten 11 months ago
@lividkitten

@HARVESTDAY nothing wrong with heterosexual male black feminists. you raise a good point that the community must talk about queer also amongst heterosexual individuals. black feminism teaches about systemic domination and these distractions distract us from focusing for example on poverty or unequal access to education or paid wages for the black male equal to the orthodox white male or paying a female surgeon the same as the male without a wage gap. the sources are a good break from the i'net.
lividkitten 11 months ago
@lividkitten
HARVESTDAY 11 months ago
@lividkitten
systemic domination-SOLE MOTHER CUSTODY Family Court Bias?
poverty-how about teaching a man to fish as opposed to giving him half of mine. Wealth redistribution much?
unequal access education- you mean feminist striving to get more men in college? Yeah, never happened
paid wages-you mean the Affirmative action where BW rank above US who are doing so badly supposedly? pfft!
paying a female surgeon the same -Work as many hrs as men not part-time. MAN UP.
Anything else?
HARVESTDAY 11 months ago
@HARVESTDAY thanks for your feedback but it seems like you're on this page for something else, spamming and so on. this is a safe and inclusive space. just inform yourself because your comments make one wonder about the frustration of black men or someone fronting as an angry black man to mock the plight that black women experience.

Said the author overlooking JTRILEY.

@JTRILEY1. a man protecting his mom is not a feminist, that a man and what he is posed to do. im a man, i disagree with most feminist stuff. not all but most especially the misandry parts and the support of the bias laws against men which feminist support u know the ones which seem to effect black men more even though they are being legislated by whites. its funny how that works. anyway a mom is more than a woman she is mom as is wife, sister, etc. mom cant be grouped with women u dont know.
mykole84 11 months ago
JTRILEY1 10 months ago
@JTRILEY1. i respect women as women but no i wouldnt expect u 2 treat my mom like yo mom nor would i ur mom. but i expect u 2 show courtesy and respect 2 her as i would urs. but mom goes beyond superficial (i dont mean fake, it just aint as deep) respect and love u have 4 yo mom. she gave u life and raised u and luvd u from birth so y would u treat any woman like ur mom. would u trust them w/ yo kids. black feminist & male groups need to cut it out and work on stoppin the gender war.
mykole84 10 months ago
@JTRILEY1. as i said i disagree with most not all. equality on what merit or just 4 being a woman. man & woman cant be compared especially when serve 2 different biological goals but must unite 4 it 2 b complete. man & woman cant compete w/ each other b/c w/o one the other will not survive and the future is lost. feminist dont want equality they want take over b/c 2 them men have bin oppressing them. men dont suffer to them and thats sexist. what about reproductive right, false rape, etc?
mykole84 10 months ago
@mykole84 MOST OF 100% IS ABOUT 90%!
90% IS CLOSER TO ALL, RIGHT MY BROTHER?
MAN AND WOMAN CANT BE COMPARED HUH? BUT YET THEIR EQUAL WHEN IT'S TIME TO GIVE LIFE!
WHAT'S A FUTURE WITHOUT RESPECT FOR OUR WOMEN?
SO NOW YOU DECIDED TO LAY SOME REAL SHIT ON ME?
MEN HAVE OPPRESSED THE WOMAN! NOW THATS SOME REAL SHIT!
SO IF THE FEMINIST HATE MEN? IS IT THE HATE THAT HATE PRODUCED!
SO MY FRIENDS IF YOU GET TREATED AS IF YOU HAD
NO RIGHTS IN WHICH A MAN WAS BOUND TO RESPECT!
U WILL BE PISS TOO
JTRILEY1 10 months ago
@JTRILEY1. we aint =. = means the same which men and women aint nor will we ever b. we have our roles and they r different. would u treat ur mom like u treat ur dad. the answer is no, b/c they r different but the union of them bore u. u get it teamwork. without kids there is no survival, and blacks r doin a good job of not having babies (it sad we r dying outside and inside the womb). if men treated women like they do other men, what do u think would b the result?
mykole84 10 months ago
@mykole84 Thanks for your comments and the dialogue is appreciated. One of the problems with understanding black feminism is to see how black feminism differs for example from white feminism. Your example of equality with men is what what white feminists wanted, however black feminists have slightly different interests. They want both black women and black men together to no longer be oppressed by social infrastructure like capitalism, economics, employment, family composition etc.
lividkitten 10 months ago
@mykole84 In relevant situations for example, black women are marginal under a system that justifies a wage gap, meaning that justifies paying men and white women more for the same equal jobs or concentrating black women in low paying jobs. Another example of patriarchy is a system that assigns women roles, that women must do certain things and not others. why is this is the case? Comes down to a power dynamic. A way to improve relations between black men and women is to talk about this abuse.
lividkitten 10 months ago
@lividkitten. until black america fixes its problem how we can we effectively deal with other groups. more patriarch immigrants r coming here & passing or replacing blacks in economics & population. black feminist has helped dwarfed our pop. & $. lets take a couple the man $8 and the women $ but now u have the woman make $9 but aint got no man. they got $12 while she got $9. $12 >$9 but most would rather go alone & make $9 rather than forming a group makin $12. just an analogy to some probs.
mykole84 10 months ago
@mykole84 Patriarchy = abuse. In context of black feminism and more examples are in the texts suggested in the video and comments here. You are right there is a crisis in the black community with reproducing the race and building relationships of love, consensus and equality, but the term equality for sure has many suggestions.
lividkitten 10 months ago
@lividkitten. patriarchy isnt abuse nor is matriarchy. when its govt impose than yes. rite now we have govt imposed matriarchy combined with misandry. this society has all the features of matriarchy, lack of paternal involvement, low fertility rate, men helping with the nephews, and vulnerability to be conquered by more patriarchic groups as y matriarches are displaced. patriarchy makes men involves and seem to have higher fertility. so u have more father involvement and more babies. is dat bad?
mykole84 10 months ago
@mykole84 the kinds of patriarchy that black feminism speak about is oppression and under that term there are different kinds of conditions that over represent women in conditions where they are marginal, i.e. low paying jobs, no subsidized day care, no accessible and affordable education for poor women because of things related to neo-liberal capitalism. In this example neo-liberal capitalism is an example of system of patriarchy that reproduces vulnerable conditions 4 including poor women.
lividkitten 10 months ago
@mykole84 with respect to your idea about reproduction and family in the black community a black feminist response would question the social supports for black families to reproduce while ensuring fair participation in for example the global economy. Is one income enough to sustain the household, and is that income from work that people want to do and not have to do. It's important to make clear distinctions about the kind of feminism one is talking about, sounds like you are talking about
lividkitten 10 months ago
@lividkitten. we both know there is strength in #s and we dont got them and the govt has been actively keep it that way. it wont change unless we force it. people do good only if the consequence of doing bad is worse. so blacks being a minority and a puny one a that we must up our numbers. we r in no position at the moment to fight the the fight we will lose every time but with higher # change would come a lot easier. the global economy is rigged and as it is now would work against us.
mykole84 10 months ago
@mykole84 separatist feminist that believes in segregation from men. That is not the aim of black feminism because it looks at how the black man and woman and transgendered person from the black race are oppressed together by different social systems. It actually looks at strengthening the black family in your example according to black feminism texts. North American society under neo-liberal capitalism is very patriarchal and not beneficial considering the rise of poverty and poor women. There
lividkitten 10 months ago
@mykole84 are different kinds of feminisms and we have to make it clear that black feminism always looks at ways of empowering the black community. A black feminist position would say that consensus is the way to make decisions in the family and not because the man or woman said so. It would be nice to see a return to more solid black families without the worries of oppressions or assertions related to biology. Men and women should share parenting responsibilities for sure.
