I haven't seen a single Asian horror film yet that even remotely scared me. It's bugging me. People keep recommending me the "subtle Asian horror flicks" but when I do watch them, it's always the same old cliché over and over again. This doesn't look any different.

For example in the Whispering Corridors series, the ghosts appear to regular living people. Which, by the way, is the true appearance of ghosts as cited by the oldest records regarding ghosts. Any other image since are the products movie makers trying to create a new thrill to increase ticket sales

As much as I love Asian horror, I have to admit the whole long haired ghost girl plot has been kind of overused, but in the right hands it can be creepy. But you can also say America has overused the deformed maniac stalking horny teens plot. In any case I really think Asian horror needs to branch out. most A-horror movies are either about vengeful ghosts, bloody revenge, or just plain exploitation films, or torture porns similar to Hostel. Asian Horror is fantastic, it just needs new material.

I understand your opinion, but in Asia they learn as children that these things, ghosts and bloody revenge, are out there and they will get you if you're not careful. It's the same concept as the Boogieman or Freddy Kruger in the West. Our horror concepts are just as over used.

In Asia it's not necessarily about coming up with new stories to scare people but how the old stories can be re-told over and over.

you can ask any asian elderly, they will tell you the samething about ghost. They have long hair covering their face. So I can see why they would use that appears all the time. They are more like phantom ghost, then a ghost... ghost. These one will rip you apart. But I do agree it is getting overrated, but no doubt most of the ones I saw so far have a good story line. And the perfect amount of scarey scenes.
