  • sweet i have a 48

  • they are a nice reliable old tractor i know that!

  • cool tractor

  • thanx

  • sweet. just remember. i learned from lots of farmers over the years. there's no wrong way to restore a tractor. every modification, dent, and odd tire tells a story.

    good luck!

  • this is as restored as it will ever be. just as granpa last had it. exept i like to put up its original ji case umbrella because its unique and unseen today ill show it maybe later on this weekend

  • its got a really beefy loader attachment and those little 5.00x15 tires too. lets hope its not too underpowered for it. its a good arrangement tho. hydraulic steering helps to turn it a lot i would think. mine is manual, i had to put a steering knob on the thing to help me turn it when it's not moving.

  • my great grandpa had it fited to the tractor some time in the mid 1960's after he quit farming. as to its power. we used to plow the gravel driveway to the barn with the fron wheels in the air in 2nd gear at only 1/2- 3/4 throttle. it always did fine. but boy that power stearing was necesary with the loader attached. loader workes great. its a johnson hydrolick workhorse model 40

  • yeah you're right. its not easy. i've got a tonne of books too, including Case manuals for my VAC. they all say something different.

  • we figured it might be a 20hp engine i said 25 but that was my mistake. we have thought for many years that it was 20hp. but 15hp is probably more like it

  • i think you're overestimating the HP on your VAC. my '49 is rated at 12.5 hp. maybe 15 if it has aluminum pistons. but you're right, they're fun to drive.

  • we never knew the hp the engine had. all the books we have on it all say a different hp. so it makes it hard to determin the actual hp

  • Very nice tractor...I know what you mean about stuff being buried in the barn! Look forward to seeing it running.

  • oh it starts right up even after siting awhile

  • we actually just started it today we will drive it out tommorow or monday

  • model "WF" i had to look all over to figure out what it is. i dont think it is restorable. probably will only ever be used as lawn art at least for now

  • Now you are talking my kind of tractor!

  • told you we had one. it is just in hybernation right now but it is an exelent running tractor. it has never been abused or left outside uncoverd it spent most of its life in the leanto equipment shed behind the cowbarn.

  • oh forgot to mention. you may have noticed the cane mounted on the fender. that is the factory original umbrella bracket. best of all we found the "original" "1952" J.I.CASE umbrella "sold with tractor" hanging in the cow barn with its holder bracket. it is still orange "flambeu red" but faded. it has old abe on it and says J.I.CASE on it. not something you see every day. we "WILL NEVER" part with this because of the sentimental values it holds to our family.

  • we actually just started it today we will drive it out tommorow or monday

  • i have an old allis at my grandmothers. iv seen picures of it when it was complete. but i never saw it run. grandpa not the one who had the case, dragged it to the side of a path next to his barn with one of the crawlers. it has now started to deteriorat:( it has an inustrial front on it with grill guard. hood and radiator are now missing no clue what he did with them. engine is stuck. but the tranny still shifts. and the pulley tryes to turn. spokes on back wheels are badly rusted.

  • it has been very reliable. it worked that farm on the side of a mountain with some steep sloped fields for years. and it was used to collect fire wood. plow the drive way and barn yard. and get sand from the sand pit behind the farm untile my great grandparents died a few years back. i still miss them. that tractor brings back good memories to my family.

  • you dont see the wide front too often on this model. my great granfather belived you shouldent worry what brand you use just buy the one that is local to you. there used to be a case dealer a few miles from his farm. i know he also had a rare case 300 brand new of course. i have a picture of my dad sitting on it when it was new in the late 50's or early 60's. its pretty cool looking. google case 300 tractor. its the one with the rounded front. and headlights like the vac shown here.

  • it may not be green but it's no IH. I like john deere and case the most. so thats all we have here
