I got milk on my laptop yesterday morning. I cleaned it up and worked ok for a few hours untill last night when it shut down and wouldnt turn back on. This morning I took the back off the lap top and turned it upside down in a warm room and its working fine again. Hopefully I'm out of the woods.

That is total crap i spilled water on my compaq laptop the cup fell over and was about little more than half full it fell right on the keyboard all i did was cut the power off to it took it apart dried the components and casing and put it all back together within 30 mins i was back on the computer and till this day its still running but i dont use it anymore since windows 7 came out im now on a acer which is spill resistant i already tried it the keyboard and all ports have seals around them.

A towel will not kill a laptop. It will slightly raise the temp. Also parts don't die from a large amount of heat in a short time. But if you have your laptop on load on a couch/bed it WILL die it some point.

you can put it in alcohol. alcohol removes water because the density is much less than water, and alcohol doesnt damage hardware, then you take it outside and you put it down the sun for 2 hours and it should be done because the alcohol evaporates really fast.

Erm... Actually, if your laptop got splashed by that amount of water shown here, you can more or less kiss it goodbye.

Plugging in the power supply, even after leaving it to dry/drain out, might accidentally cause a short circuit inside.

Best advice, bring it to your laptop's manufacturer to get it looked over. If its still under warranty, you still have a bit of hope there.

Durabooks have a hard shell that can take a hit.. He's in his 3rd year of college and his laptop still works.. PS.. I do not work for Durabook or any other computer manufacturer.
