This is not a very well constructed program but should have been enough, in addition he led in the SP. I can understand why he wants to come back for 2014. I could be tougher ths time around though. Just make the competition more interesting. I think if he skated like what he did at 2012 European he definitely would have won the 2010 olympics, and has a high possibility to win 2014 too.
como que la ropa que utilizo evan l., es muy parecida al estilo de plushenko, en especial a la utilizada en vancuver, él sera bueno o imitación!!?., pero para emitar a plushenko esta dificil...
Plushenko- Beautiful quad toe, shaky triple axel, 2 shaky triple lutzs, artistic in a manly way, very strong skater, not very many connecting steps, decent spins
Lysacek- No quad, Very flowy jumps, ugly triple axels, lots of connecting steps and moves with music, great spins, great footwork, very prepared skater
---Lysacek is stronger in artistry and spins, but Plushenko has a quad and stronger jumps
@jakeymc3 You spoke about only the FS. The solution is in the SP's marks. Evan was overrated in SP, thus he had chance to win, he had chance to beat Evgeni. And the judges knew it,when they gave the points.
@iloveplushenko Point taken. But, if he was over scored he wasnt over scored that much because you have to remember evan has everything besides the quad. Evgeni has the quad but lacks in some areas.
@jakeymc3 I would dispute the beautiful quad - it was leaning and not up to Plushy's usual standard, Plushy's program had fewer and less interesting transitions, his circular step sequence had pauses for posing and didn't flow, his spins were mediocre (seen him perform better) and he posed too much in this program. Lysacek had very clean jumps, good transitions, good footwork, good spins but bores me to tears. I was torn but I don't think Plushy was cheated here!
From NY Times ( /2010/02/20/sports/olympics/20¬longman.html) : Lysacek received only a judges warning for a wrong-edged takeoff on his triple flip, not a 2- or 3-point deduction that would have changed the outcome, which was narrowly decided in his favor by 257.67 points to 256.36.
Plus Lysa's first 3A was prerotated 1/4 but got unfairly +0.6 GOE
@muscleboi4use It wasn't his best quad, but none the less it was still very good. I enjoyed lysaceks program as well as plushenkos. I didn't find evan boring but i hate his triple axel, which for me ruined the program. I was also torn, after watching them multiple times i still cant decide
I remember sitting in my living room watching this and even me (a huge Patrick Chan fan) thought he should have won. I remember staring at my tv going WTF just happened? He so should have won!
PLUSHENKO ES EL CAMPEON, ES EL REY DEL HIELO, SIMPLEMENTE ES PERFECTO AUNQUE LOS YANQUIS SIEMPRE SE HAN EMPEÑADO EN ROBAR HASTA EN LAS OLIMPIADAS, SABEN BIEN QUE JAMAS VAN A PODER COMPARARSE CON LOS RUSOS Y SU ARTE SOBRE EL HIELO, LO SIENTO lisyacek simplemente fuiste un instrumento para que los yanquis una vez mas robaran algo que no les pertenece, PLUSHENKO SABE QUE EL ES EL CAMPEON
I don't like Evan's skating at all....but it wasn't a superb performance by Plush. His body language is way too agressive, tooo arrogant, it's like "hey I'm the King, gimme the gold!!". of course he is the best skater of the decade but in this performance there is NO artistry, nothing, just technique and arrogant movements. What a shame. Winning an olympic gold without a quad is not good for the sport, but Plush's gold would'nt been a good choice neither! Shame, even his behaviour on the podium.
@lilic1 Yeah, I'm with you...The arrogance did make me squirm somewhat. No doubt, Plushenko IS the best jumper, for sure. But the new marking takes into consideration (more fairly IMHO) the whole performance...jumps, spins, and crucially, transitions. I think it was the latter that lost Plushenko the gold. *Prepares for negative bombardment* Just an opinion guys! :)
Best male skater ever. He already has an Olympic gold, Olympic silver, 3 world championships so this is 'loss' is hardly going to affect him. Long Live The King!
i think this progam is shit, he may do a quad but its not a good one and everything else he does is crap aswell! atleast evan did what he can do well! which is what the new system is about! so stop complaining! Evan still isnt my favourite skater there were other people i would have rather win, but evan was the best on the night!
@aaaaaaaaandrew European FS analysts say the decision to award Evan the gold medal over Evgeni was debatable. You never forget: "If you take out a quad, it makes the whole program at least 50% easier to do.". I live in Europe and read and heard many Euro and Asian experts that said Plush's two programs were more difficult and more ambitious and he should have won. Stojko, Candeloro, Pelissier, Pons (FS commentators and experts), Lu Chen, coach of Shen & Zhao, and they did it in the media &press
@aaaaaaaaandrew It was so outrageous how after the short program the judges gave both of them the same score so Evan could have a chance at beating Plushenko. Plushenko's short program was so much superior to Lycacek's. Plus Evan wasn't flawless in his LP. Plushenko's jumps were landed-neither two-foot nor underrotation but Evan did mistakes-which are not visible to non-specialists. Check it on Wikipedia:"quadruple jump controversy"
he was so smoothly dancing, flaw less!!great execution but when he do his triples he's out balanced specially in the midair, so when he land its not graceful, that he really has to pull off skates, though he made it perfect!!!!!and hes great! i know you're the next champion Plushenko!
@sexymole he's amazing, his techique, his performance......everything. you can't deny that. if you deny anyway, than the only thing i can say to you is that there must be a reason why he was olympic, world, european and russian champion, don't you think???
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
seriously, this is a pretty horrid routine. wobbly landings and he has no artistry to speak off. someone should slap that smirk off his face. he expects to get the Gold just for doing a quad and acting cool. i hope he retires for good.
On what basis are you calling Plushenko not artistic? Isn't it your subjective opinion?
You don't know anything, you repeat as a parrot, what your biased media said after Oly. You are brain-washed by your media, but the world knows the truth...
Plushenko did not win and rightly so !!! evan was the best overall!!! Plushenko landed a lot of his jumps in the first half of his free skate and evan did not, a lot of his jumps had shaky landings and not evan's, his spins and step sequences were not as hard as evan , his artistry was completely ridiculous and childish for a man of then 27/28 years of age and there was no harmony with a music that was itself annoying.
If Evgeni had come back earlier he would have won the Olympics. He was completely offshape in spring of 2009, it´s a miracle he could medal in Vancouver. Unfortunately he didn´t consider a comeback until his wife started to persuade him to return.

Plushenko's routine is not classical as you get used to see in figure skating. He is experimenting and pushing the boundaries.
And that you interpreter as "ridiculous and childish". However, it takes twice more skills than the classical safe routine.
