  • @Shenron9811 You are supposed to lift weights slowly in a controlled manner. That is the worst possible way you can lift, it;s very easy to pull or tear something in your neck. It doesn't matter how strong you are, it is inevitable that you will hurt yourself flailing a weight like that with your neck! Just plain dumb

  • To answer 2 questions... First by using your mouth to clench down on the weighted cloth your strengthening your jaw muscles as well as your neck which will make your jaw harder to damage.Second the neck muscles are the shock absorbers of the head! That is why Boxers with stronger, thicker necks tend to be harder to knockout. Also this is why Boxers like Holyfield don't have brain damage. By having a strong neck to absorb the force his brain is okay after years of boxing!

  • @cameronsaboss Just read it up and you'll find out! It's very important, especially for a fighter of any contact sports. It can help absorb blows better, and when you get hit, your brain is protected that extra bit more, as your neck muscles run to your head/brain, therefore if your neck is sturdier, you can take a punch better than you normally would.

  • One tip buddy, do these neck exercises a little slower. you will benefit greatly from this. Good job though a lot of people don't train their necks when in reality it should be one of the first things a fighter should develop. Heck even non fighters can benefit greatly from working out their necks.

    but it is important to strength train your neck

  • @Whiskey136 I agree about the jaw strength, but most flash knockdowns are caused by quick rotation of the neck, therefor a strong neck is important. A punch hard enough to knock the brain like that is better off evaded. Not trying to troll, just sharing my two cents.

The jaw is a muscle just like anything else and it is developed through resistance training. by having to hold weight with your jaw you are applying resistance to it therefore breaking down the muscle and building mass over time.

    also, it is possible to make your bones harder. you can change bone density through conditioning. Look up wolfs law and muy thai bananna tree kicking.
