We should petition to get this back on. They used a modified Rome:Total War engine to make these so they could easily use an Empire engine to make Waterloo, Trafalgar, Austerlitz etc. Also those are typically more popular battles.

They should make this how again but with battles during the 18 century. They can use Empire and Napoleon Total War with that. Or recreate Medieval Battles like Hastings. With Medieval 2 Total War. I really liked this series and of course the game!

This battle was not actually deemed as a Macedonian defeat, more of a draw with both sides withdrawing after seriously heavy casualties. I'm pretty sure that these indians were controlled by Porus? (excuse me if I'm wrong) who was later respected by Alexander and was given the position of satrap.

@yetiporn The stats given by Arrian and Diodorus are only 80 - 700 infantry casualties, 200+ cavalry casualties. Indian casualties are given at 12,000, with 9,000 captured. No other source puts the Macedonian casualties higher than 1,000 or so. I don't know why

@BloodiestMargie Its called propaganda. The casualty figures for Alexander's forces for the majority of his battles are suspiciously low, a trait of Hellenistic historians who would frequently low ball their own sides losses, and exagerrate those of the enemy...

Actually the light infantry was eventually used to take down the elephants. That should have split their heavy cavalry though.

That isn't how I learnt it went.I had it that the horse archers took out the chariots who were stuck in mud. Seeing his left flank in distress Porus sent his cavalry from his right to assist. Alexander then sent his left cavalry round the back to encircle and kill Porus calvary. Porus seeing this led a mass offensive with infantry and elephants. The phalanx was crippled but managed to hold enough to drive the elephants back through their own lines. He then flanked with cavalry and pushed forward

If you mean about the american.Then yes,they have started more wars(small wars) then flippin Russia.Vietnam was getting overrunned by communisim and america jumped in to stop that from happening.Same with North Korea,how ever China is Comunism yet i dont see America acting all hard to them.So now America is interfearing with Libya by launching missles and EU placing a no fly zone.

I like European Union.Its just Amnerica who think they are in charge.

yes if Britain had been occupied,you would see a german fleet or 2 in New york waters.

better yet they were planning to bomb New York.So really you would of gone into a war either way.

Also to me it was the russians that turned the tide.They sent troops from the western front to the eastern front.If all germanys trops were at normandy,d Day would of been lost.It was russia that made the germans retreat not the americans.

@jwjm92 Look, I'm British and I accept that America played a large part in the war and helped win it. And so did Russia. But the thing is, everyone who fought helped win. We can't say that France's early involvement didn't "save our asses" as much as Americas late involvement. In war every country needs allies to rely on, and a large part of why Germany lost was due to them having to micromanage Italy, seeing as they had trouble dealing with Croatia.
