  • ha! this interview is hilarious!

  • what a genious. He knows how to explain this so well.....

  • I really wanted to hear the part of the movie where the audio was cut out..

  • In one of the questions the guy says Derren doesn't like NLP but he clearly uses NLP principles when talking about how to deal with nervousness?

  • mate i saw this on tv and at the end of the show it showd r.i.p to that lady no shit.... but then it must be fake..... REEEADDDDDDD.. find dat and post it.....

  • so nice to hear some one who to most people is hard to understand, totaly explain how things work in my mind in a way i completly relate to. I wish he wasnt gay or twice my age... i love him

  • I like the fact that Derren is not the stereo-type gay, and it is an insult to remind the opposite sex as though its a penalty for finding him attractive. Cut it out, people. Its normal.

  • lol he says he doesnt like nlp and yet he is explaining the swish patteren at 04:42 ish

  • why do they keep askling him about women, hes gay lol :)

  • lol it was a big fat rumor on the internet couple years back and everyone fell for it ...

  • The many editing makes the video cut bits of the conversation.

  • Derrenbrown is a battyman

  • HAHAHA love Derrens wave at the end!

  • he is very smart!

  • the technique derren suggests to sally to get rid of exam-stress really works and is used by psychologists to treat people since the early 70s

It's amazingly easy technique you can test on your self and it's really handy. I used it the first to get over a women i had quite a crush on. Now I'm controlling most of uncompfortable feelings consciously with that technique. You can even reduce the amount of pain you're feeling if you manage to concentrate.

  • I can see how it would be helpful, but have you ever thought about overusing the techniqe and eventually finding that you have an inability to feel emotion in very serious circumstances. This technique could help me daily - but after a bad few years, but i dont think it would be right to not feel sad about bad things going on.

  • No. you still are able and do feel sad. Thing is, that it doesn't compleately wipe out the feelings. But it helps to rationalise em. I don't suggest to use it every time i don't even think that this is possible. But some things are a little worse than just a broken heart. And it really helped me out so i just wanted to mention that it's worth to try it (i learned it from a psychology student i know)

  • it works, i think it changed my life.

  • this vid is messed up with the sound & stuff but the interview is good

  • I swear thats Tayfun from Survivor UK series 2....in fact, Id go so far to say it IS him.

  • What a great guy. Derren is one of my 5 dinner party guests

  • @SpacedTime Don't think of this as intrusive, but I@m naturally curious now. Whoa re you 5 dinner guests? :P

  • @LightShiningBright hahaha, I'm glad you asked. The other 4 are Hunter S. Thompson, Carl Sagan, Terence Mckenna and Charlize Theron.

If I could have one guy at to chat to at the bar it would be Russell Brand although I would put Brand and Theron at either side of me as she is super hot and I wouldn't want him to get near her. hahaha

Who are your 5 dinner party guests?

  • @SpacedTime Derren is definately on the list, along with Eddie Izzard! I love them both! I never really thought about the other 3, but I guess oooh, I know. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy. Doris Day as well. She has such a lovely voice and I'd really like to hear about her movie-making et cetera! And the last one...Derren Brown again! :) Could you imagine? Two Derren Browns??? It would be brilliant!

  • @LightShiningBright Sounds like somebody has a bit of a crush on Derren Brown to want two of him!? I'm a ladies man, but one day I might meet one as smart and interesting and then I'll swap her out for him at the dinner party.

  • @SpacedTime No, you don't understand. I'm gay for Derren Brown! I would marry him in the morning :P But only him and Eddie Izzard, whom I also am gay for :P I would't consider myself a Ladies Man, having said that I'm only 17 :P

  • @LightShiningBright Do what you do. I tink as you gte older your 5 party guests might change though. If you had asked me when I was 17 it would have been a different story.

  • @SpacedTime Maybe Doris and Seth might Change, mainly because, lety's be honest, Doris day is quite old now. God bless her. But definately not Derren or Eddie. They'll ALWAYS be on the list. I aspire to be like Derren Brown :P I've even been around my school hypnotising my friends :P So far so good!

  • @LightShiningBright Frankie Boyle told a good joke once, he said if he was Derren Brown he would get on the Tube and stand near a guy who was sleeping and then take his trousers down, nudge the guy and when he wakes up you pull your underpants back up and say "thanks for that" heheheh

Half the people on my list are dead, so it really is a fantasy dinner party. unless I get Derek Acorah to host hahaha

  • @SpacedTime Oh well, if the people are dead then Doris day will probably not change either! :P

  • @SpacedTime Derek Acorah? you cannot be serious, you do know that derren brown is polar opposite to Derek Acorah the fraud?

  • @LowleyUK If you read it again (as I just did) you will see that its a joke about how all my dinner party guests are dead and Acorah would have to be medium. I don't believe in ghosts or the afterlife. I know Derren is very opposed to him, thats what made it funny.

    Its ruined now though.

  • @SpacedTime Oh right...my mistake...don't worry though, there's not much to ruin

  • I thought the interviewer was good.

  • i thought the ghostbusters theme was gonna start at 1.40

  • Spot on.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • SLIMER!

  • Who the hell is that interviewer. What a bell end.

  • I love Derren's voice, it's so soothing, and oddly sexy!

  • lol oddly sexy?

    t'is true he is awesome

  • Someone give this interviewer a P45, how the hell did he get a job doing this?!

  • haha well said!! love the username too lol

  • Derren said you couldn't link erotic feelings to certain pictures in the house, etc. You OBVIOUSLY can! If you know how it works. It's called an anchor. Clearly, he doesen't want to give out this juicy detail! Then he'd get exposed... and the next woman going into his house might start to second guess why is she feeling horny there... ( If she heard of him doing it ) I sure wouldn't let people know that I could do it on t.v. my self so I can see why he said no, but, YES, it's possible.

  • You do know that Derren's gay, right? He came out about 2 years ago.

  • @kateeOx So, he still good looking.

  • @kateeOx And this matters why...?

  • @Llawliet246 @Supernaturalxxxxxx Can't even remember the context of my comment now but it certainly wasn't saying he's not good looking :S Or that there's anything wrong with being gay. I think the person has deleted their comment now but I'm sure it was in reply to someone saying he was "acting gay" or saying something accusing him of being gay as if it were a bad thing so I was saying he's actually already out. Either way, I would have been defending him haha!

  • @Llawliet246 @Supernaturalxxxxxx actually! The video isn't playing for me just now but judging by people's comments it sounds like the interviewer kept asking him about women? It may have been in response to that.

  • People get manipulated all the time by commercials and politicians. They don't make up such stuff off the cusp. They actually study to imprint and/or convince. At least people like mr. Brown are honest about it... Think about it, next time you have a song stuck in your head. It just might be designed that way.

  • Great stuff, brilliant to listen to!

  • He was possibly the worst interviewer in the world!

  • What a terrible interviewer, why did they choose him to talk to someone so interesting?

  • i belive he is a vary good personality, i think many are afraid of people who can control people but on the other hand, he is a performer with a off/on switch :D

  • I wish you could post a complete version of this interviewwithout the edits, and clean it up.

  • This is an interesting interview because Derren is avoiding some things and is contradicting himself about nlp. The truth is, many people get into it because of his work, isn't that ironic...

  • Great upload. Thanks.

  • He is against NLP but what he explains here to get the nerves under control is classic NLP.

  • Swish pattern is one title that people have given that process. Like you say, pretty classic NLP.

    -r

  • you say he is against NLP, yet he seems to be using nothing but NLP terminology.

  • Well that is an illusion he often suggest it is NLP and then it is a very nice magic effect,

In his book Pure Effect he writes that NLP has some very good stuff but it has gone towards new age madness with management trainings and self help crap. I agree as well.

  • I agree with you. If your going to study NLP you can surly use to help people and help yourself but some people apply things things to there religion and such. Once you realize that words and social interaction effect decision making, that is when you can really make changes in yourself and or other people and this is what derren does he just applys it to his craft as a mentalist, illutionist and etc...

  • Precisely therefore Derren is a great example for all mentalists/illusionists.

  • i want to buy that book, pure effect, but i want to know if it actualy teaches you anything before i fork out the price it is sold for lol can u message me what is in it and what you learn from it please, thanks..

  • What is it you would expect to learn?

  • well i know it teaches the card trick smoke, but after reading his book tricks of the mind i hope to learn more of his methods and more indepth discriptions of the methods he describes in tricks of the mind... mind reading, nlp ect ect ?...

  • that was amazing - i think i'll use it

  • @rdoetjes He is not "against" NLP. He has said that he doesn't apply it as much as many people think, and that some NLP practitioners make bogus claims about what NLP techniques can really do, but he has never said that he is "against" it, as far as I can recall.

  • nice interview

  • Why is this so disjointed?

  • sorry but i dont have internet connection at home , i have to use public computer & everything is so rust. i tried & deleted, tried & deleted, as i finally knew I was so annoying, i stopped here.

  • sorry again i mean rush

  • It's still a good upload, I've never seen it before, so thanks.

  • fair enough.

  • true, I really enjoyed this! Thank you for uploading =)

  • Wicked shit.thanks again

  • I taught him rapid induction
