  • I wish i knew what TYPE of depression i have. im on martazapine for depression ive had since i was 14/15 (im now 21) and i seem to have about 5 manic episodes where ive got a bit "mad" and ran away or had a meltdown lol but between those episodes ive normal depression up n downs.

    ???

  • @CitzenVain714, Stephen Fry is a sincere & thoughtful man who is full of goodwill for his fellow humans beings.

When he says that many manics depressives, "can't live a normal life," he is *not* belittling Carrie Fisher or anyone else: he's drawing our attention to a medical condition that most of us don't know very much about & describing how it impacts lives, especially when it goes undiagnosed.

His goal is to educate us & to help us empathize, which is the opposite of passing judgment.

  • Esse cara no começo do vídeo já não trabalhou no seriado "Bones"?

  • Love Carrie Fisher!

Admirable that she retained her humour against the odds.

I recommend reading her book "The Best Awful" to everyone who can't relate!

    One strong woman.

    Thank you for uploading!

  • Can't believe they actually edited it and added music to make her seem 'crazy'. How pointlessly insensitive and in a documentary no less.

  • This was originally a two hour programme (in two episodes) about Stephen Fry's bipolarity. It was a very positive, informitive and sensitively produced program. Search for "The secret life of a manic depressive"

  • she's talking about bipolar, no?

  • Yes. The interviewer is also bipolar and actor. He has made a suicide attempt a long time ago.

  • do you realize how strange it is to say someone "is bipolar." people need to think about the language they use and what mental representations lie behind that language.

  • In Brazil it's common to say that someone is bipolar. Sometimes there is even normal people that says something like "today I'm kinda bipolar." In each country the words have a different strength. For example, I can't understand why Americans, at least in the movies and series, need to add "fucking" in all that talk, because it occurs in Brazil, generally, speaking the word in portuguese similar, only in the most ill-educated.

  • @rpvieira We fucking do it so that we can fucking give people who fucking live elsewhere something to feel fucking superior about. It's a fucking cultural exchange, since every fucking culture has certain little things that other cultures can fucking point at and say, "Look at those low [fucking] people."

    You're fucking welcome.

  • @AnotherCompartment I know. It's like, I'm not short. I *have shortness*. My aunt isn't diabetic, my father is not demented and my sister *has thinness*.

When will people catch up with our brilliant and far superior ways of thinking? I'm sorry, I mean our thinking that *has superiorness*.

  • "can't live a normal life?"

she has a very successful career as a script doctor/novelist and is raising a 16 year old and just finished touring the county in her hit one woman show!

i'd say she's been able to lead a very normal/productive life!

  • speaking like a true non bipolar person!!

  • i dont get it

  • i tell you what see doesnt have the face now but 30 years ago wow she was hot

  • I feel ya Carrie I go through simmaler things

  • what is this from?

  • Documentary "Stephen Fray - The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive", BBC (2006)

  • I'm sure the music is different to the original documentary.
