@kajole1 This factory is using MASSIVE amounts of electricity & fuel to break down the carbon chains.....
THAT is why it is a scam.... I am not saying you cannot do thermal depolymerization, its just very expensive & not very cost effective. (unless you charge a HUGE amount per barrel)
@madjimms No, TDP has a modest energy cost, about 15% of the heat of combustion of the feedstock. The cost of the equipment is significant, but not crippling. At full scale, the process cost would be around $20 to $30/barrel, and the latest crude oil price is over $100/bbl, so this is an excellent way to recycle organic waste.
@rocketplumber and the water is what they said in the video recycled so if the recycled water is already hot it doesnt take that much energy to get it back up to the desired heating temp for the next batch process.if you go to 1:01 you notice all the white pipe, that is insulated pipe for retention of heat and again at 1:52 the white bigger tanks are also insulated.most likely the uncovered pipe acts like condensers or water return lines in the closed loop system
@madjimms Not unless you use it's industrial waste heat to cogenerate electricity by using a low pressure and low temperature ammonia gas turbine powered turbogenerators.
You are wrong about that sir. TD fits very well into the current costs of crude production. It requires some skill and finesse, but so does drilling for oil. Depending on the feedstock, costs can be very low. Give me a TD plant and train loads full of discarded tires and I'll crank out oil at $25 easily. Make that feed stock turkey offal and that cost may rise to 40.
well you could cut the shredder part out of the equation, build a tdp plant near salt water, have grow tanks for renewable salt water algae and have a renewable algae to fuel plant.algae is the fastest growing plant on the planet and with tdp it seems like it could take care of the peak oil problem in no time.
Since we need to do it quickly (as the global need for oil pressures our domestic economy) it makes sense to me that we have to stay within the paradigm of combustible fuels for some time since we already have the infrastructure to distribute this type of energy and there would be little work needed to be done to phase in new vehicles to uses these fuel sources.
CWT, the parent company of Renewable Energy Solutions, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. No details on plans for the Carthage plant have been released.
The organic waste they are processing in the Thermal Depolymerization Process (TDP) all eventually breaks down into CO2 and methane if it is left to rot in landfills. The TDP process is actually offsetting the fossil fuels that would otherwise be mined and then burned causing it to and release carbon into the atmosphere.
Unfortunately there will always be a need for liquid hydrocarbon fuels (lets just hope the need becomes small)
Waste is an enormous problem and huge amounts of energy are spent trying unsuccessfully to deal with the problem, TDP offers a way of recovering the valuable resources from that waste while safely dealing with the problem of waste.
TDP will never save the world but it is a step in the right direction towards making a brighter future.
and yes my 3rd comment on this use of energy still I think all they are reasoning right now is the positive not negative effects of it such as yes u've heard it from me 3rd time global warming to most fiction but reality happening this is not the best thing to use for enegry why are these so called waste removers are deriving there energy from fossil fuels why hydrolics or solar powered energy the use of fossile fuels are destroying the atmosphere I really disagree with this
from my other comment all that carbon is doing something for example the carbon going into the air from the burning of these fossile fuels made from this machine or TDP is trapping more heat from the sun into our earth and bu bi polar ice caps if you look on google u can see that over 20% of the ice caps from the north pole have melted into a liquid state since the 1970's still ingenious design of energy use but ilogical
still the idea the ingenious but a simple concept to grasp but still isn't it just creating more waste the amount of carbon from the gassoline and oil produced that cannoted be reused makes home the the atmosphere which by now is a major porblem becasue the more carbon that is added it destroying our atmosphere I would call this turning pollution into more polution kinda losing your logic with this project if u think about it all that extra crabon goes into our atmospehere global warming END
Ummmm how much energy are you using to make the oil? If your getting a positive return then I can see it's worth while. However it looks like it would require a shit load of energy to make the oil
This is a terrible idea. Your taking energy (lots of it) and water, and creating oil. The issue is not whether we have oil to burn, its that burning oil is a really, really bad idea.
any energy overhead can and should be supplemented with solar energy.

This will not be allowed. It will be stiffled, censored and outlawed at every turn by politicians in big oil's pocket.

@madjimms From Wikipedia: "Final cost, as of January 2005, was $80/barrel ($1.90/gal)."
The spot price of crude oil hit $81 a barrel today... and that was the lowest spot price this year.
It's not a scam. It's a substitute that is only comparable in price when we hit oil-shortage levels... which is what $100 a barrel is.

@darthvader5300 Then you have to refine & transport the fuel..... Thus increasing the energy overhead.

This is excellent, just make sure that gasoline made from garbage is clean burning gasoline. = )

where does the huge amount of energy come from one needs for the TDP
1998himcc 2 years ago
15% percent or so of the fuel TDP produces fuels the actual process.
wildeben 2 years ago
@1998himcc
It is broken down to tree parts. Water, oil, and vapor gas. The gas is used to power the plant leaving the oil.

Well actually it is very efficient. The plant powers itself with 15% of its own energy production and the other 85% is pure profit.
It is a marvelous way of turning garbage into something useful, fuel oil, or if need be, plastic.

This is an interesting idea!
I can see many industrial applications for this process.
But I don't believe it's the answer to the worlds problems!
If you could use the same principles to extract carbon from the air leaving 02 as your biproduct, then I would give you a standing ovation!
