  • The girl in the background is Anneke Wills, she starred in the thriller series Strange Report, and had an affair with Anthony Newley. As a result of appearing together in this movie Angela Douglas had an affair with Kenneth More and later married him.

  • @myepiphone Thanks for all that movie trivia.

  • Cor - not only is this a top toon, and endorsed by Jet 'n' Tone, but that ginchy bird mooching around in the background is Polly out of Doctor Who. Yowza!

  • @BashBrand Is that where I've seen her before? Well spotted!

  • Always loved that little organ thingy on this, looking through the previous comments - a Calliope apparently. Never knew what it was.

  • Still in 2011, I think it's one of the best films that tells all about our (UK) social life. A great British film... and a great & beautiful girl too!

  • tjry make a good sound considering they r not plugged in

  • The girl looking on looks like a young Anneke Wills who went on to appear in Dr Who. Can anyone confirm this?

  • boom boom sir basildebrush I was 18 when this movie was out and remember taking a young lady by the name of Janet Chamberlain to see it at a picture house in smethwick birmingham, [wonder if shes still around]?

  • @MrOldbrummie1 Thanks for the interesting comment. Let's see if Ms Chamberlain responds...

  • @SirBasildeBrush just to let know she hasnt replied back yet.Tell me sir basildebrush why are the 60s so memorable to so many people,i used to think that it was just me living in the past and yet so many others are doing the same, thinking the same especially time machines and going back,i see even you have reserved a seat on one. When we all get back will we be the same or as we were because i certainly wont get into 28" waist ,13" bottoms trousers

  • @MrOldbrummie1 Maybe she's running late. The sixties? For me I'd be going back to my childhood.

  • Fantastic! Covered by Jet & Tony too as I remember. FRom a movie about rival teen gangs and that geeky kid's homemade pipe organ gets bust in a fight in a youth club. But alls well in the end. As usual. Thanks Sir Basil.

  • @schnibbitz You've pretty much got the plot! Yes, I also have the Jet & Tony version posted.

  • What a beautiful woman.

She was the diamond on the crown of Carry On films.

  • Saw this film in 1962 just before our group/band played its first ever gig, like this film I'm still going and gigging.

    Loved it then and now.

  • @62Bassman Great stuff. A lot of people seem to remember it.

  • Saw this movie in 1962 , at the old star theatre in down La Puente Ca. !!!! Great song great movie !!!! Thank you for the upload !!!!

  • Wow! Never thought it made it that far from Bristol!

  • Wow, I'm very impressed with that calliope thingy. Sounds great.

  • That Calliope drives me crazy. I could listen to it all day long. The pied piper must have had one of those. This tune is the song of the sirens....WAY WAY FAR OUT

  • YOU got a seat reserved old65rocker. Don`t tell your wife that I´m getting this time machine gang together or she´ll have our heads, mate. KEEP ROCKING

  • ah,the old winklepickers hey, what wonderful times sadly never to return, take me back somebody please.

  • Nice one any chance of the clip when they sing "yes you did" thank you..

  • Sorry, all I've got. However, 26highstreet below has posted the start of the film, and maybe he could help out.

  • will dig it out and put in up shortly

  • anybody interested i will put a longer clip of this film up on you tube today

  • ray brooks did record a record but never played guitar in this film, he was also in play it cool with billy fury also released in 1962... flute organ crazy instrument

  • Ray Brooks seemed to be in every British film I watched whilst I was growing up. I know him best from 'The Knack', Dalek Invasion 2150AD, and Play It Cool'.

    What record did he record?

  • he released an album of songs around 1972/73 but it didnt sell very well, the name of it escapes me perhaps you would have to do some in depth research via google. as regards to this film, due to copyright issues etc its never likely to get released on dvd. i saw it around 1985 time on tv one afternoon. and managed to get hold of a copy of it recently

  • Lucky sweater...

  • Excellent. When was this on Bravo?; if recently, it had better be on again soon!

  • Oh my, does that Calliope looks like that? Fantastic sound of it. Bet they can't get that sound out of modern electonic devices.

Nice Mountain view, very cute girl.

  • She's pretty. The part when she's filmed from behind at the calliope wiggling her bottom is reminiscent of Ann Margret in "C'mon Everbody" from Viva Las Vegas (another favourite)- but this came first!

  • Valerie Mountain is never SEEN in the movie -- the girl doing the dancing and miming is Anneke Wills; Mountain dubbed the singing. The other girl in the scene is Angela Douglas, who married the movie's star, Kenneth More, after they met while shooting this picture. LOVE THE CLIP!!!!!!

  • THANKS - You are a mine of information AG. The voice fooled me, and I don't recognise Anneke Wills at all. Angela Douglas, I'm sure, was in some 'Carry-On' films, but didn't know she married More. I've still no idea what Valerie Mountain looks like! Thanks again.

  • Correction -- that's Angela Douglas (the future Mrs. Kenneth More) as the girl miming and dancing. And you're most welcome. Thank you for the posting!

  • OK, nice Douglas view ;)

But how does the singer, Valerie Mountain look like? Just as pretty as Angela?

  • Complicated & confusing, but I think it's all beginning to make sense. Do pictures of VM actually exit, she's seems almost mythical...

  • Okay, that's all beginning to make sense. Cutie Angela D. I remember from 'Carry On Follow That Camel', as the Lady following Jim Dale who kept getting her 'ticket punched'. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Trouble is it makes me want to see the whole film again more than ever.

  • ..me too!
