Hi guys I would appreciate your help....I am starting to use the Hercules Rmx controller but I do not know how to set the 1-6 buttons.....It seems like everytime I press any button, this will take me to the beginning of the track. I would like to be able to set button 1 for flanger, 2 for echo, etc......Thanks

I liked the way you described the RMX. I have it too and I love it! It is very easy to control and to adapt it to personal preferences. The buttons 1 to 6 I have them set to do loops. The pitch i use it as my flanger adjuster, the pitch reset to turn effects on and off. I do it like that just because the "sync" button helps you pitch matching :)

I dj for an internet radio station and that gives you almost the same results on your mixes as a cdj would.. Except for the effects that here you have

The Mapping sucked and I had to adjust everything, and I mean everything and its still not perfect. Also sometimes the soundcard does no register...

@TehShanus umm, I think the config button may just be an icon, (a cog wheel), I dont think it actually says config on it. The save & record fuction has always been far too complex for my liking......you just gotta play around with it for a while untill you figure out how it works

SAVE/RECORD: i use the Steel, and i record EVERY time i mix, i do 10min mixes, 30min mixes, and even up to an hour mixes. simple once u learn: on the top, where it says "record" just press, it will then ask you to name ur mix, and where you would like to save it.. first i select my desktop, although you have many options: documents, any folder, etc. then i pick my name, and click SAVE ! once i click save it starts recording, meaning i start mixing.

hey man as long as the songs your using are good quality to begin with, and your using some decent sized cabs youll be fine! I just DJed at a couple parties with the rmx, including a new years party w/ 150+ ppl and everything went awesome. Make sure you got no latency issues and backup your tunes on something incase something happens to your laptop. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!

don't be afraid...it'll work fine...the only thing that could make problems is a low processor in your laptop...i had live performances in some clubs in berlin and all worked fine...it depends on the quality of yor songs which should not be under 256 bits...

Ive used my computer for months too and just bought this controller this week. Its fucking great, but if your computer is weak, virtual dj might freeze. I suggest bringing an ipod with u and have it ready in case of the worst. Then you can reload VDJ and use the RMX again

yep u can hook your pc spear system up to it , all u need is a phono to minijack lead. go out of the remix with the phono end outputs 1 & 2 and plug the minijack end into your speaker system.

The difference between those 2 are that the RMX has an soundcard inside, what makes plf muche easyer. You can also use it with external cd-players.

I prefere the rmx (exept the price :-)) because of the great sound and the perfect working with VDJ and TRAKTOR.

That only kinda works, you can still here the bass in someones voice but it is a lot less noticeable, unfortunately so are the rest of the mid range sounds, you're gonna need to either loop an instrumental part of the song or get the acapella, but you can save loops in the sampler so it makes it a little easier, i dont know if that helps at all.

It is definatly a midi controller. You can map it however you like. Of course most use it as a mixer. And you can swith to source mode and just mix say with turntables/ cdjs.

they have renamed the remote controll tab in the config to "mappers" you set the rmx up in there , click the box next to where it says "keyboard" in the mappers section , you will find all the settings for the rmx there :)

Its your laptop, I have a Vostro 1710 and have the same issues. I'm guessing the issure will be resolved once I upgrade to the full version of VDJ.

if you're using Virtual Dj on a not so new Computer/Laptop try not to use as many programms beside VDJ because it eats most of your Computer Performance this may be the reason why your songs skip sometimes !

have u downloaded the latest drivers from hercules , cos my remix stopped working also when i udated my virtual dj to the latest version.....it wont work with the old drivers from hercules.

Do you mean theres no sound coming from the rmx ? If so go to the sound setup in vdj and make sure it reads inputs - none , outputs - headphones soundcard - RMX. main output - 1&2 , headphones - 3&4

That generally happens when you have set the soundcard in vdj config to an external soundcard such as the rmx , then if you start vdj the next time you use it without plugging the external soundcard in first it comes up with the warning "error in the sound driver", the software is trying to use a soundcard which is not plugged in.

yes indeed u can, there is a "source" button for each deck so u can bypass vdj and run the turntables through it .

it sould work with any dj software as its a midi controller, but It may take a bit of time configuring it and setting it up......I havent tried it though to be honest. It will definately work automatically with Numark Cue and PCDJ VJ as they are both just virtual dj with a diffent skin ...exactly the same software just different names :)

Hi there, excellent informative vid... Im looking into getting one of these but I have a couple of questions?... Basicly I have a stereo with an aux output which consists of 1 red and 1 white rca cable... is that all I need to connect this to my stereo? Would i need a 2x RCA Phono to 2x 1/4" Mono Jack Lead? or could I have it running through my laptop sound card which I have connected to my stereo at the mo through the aux which im using VDJ through along with a 5.1 usb soundcard? many thanks.

hi, yes you can go direct to the aux input on your stereo directly from the rmx with a single standard phono cable. As the remix has its own built in souncard there is no need to use your external or onboard sound card. :)

I bought this and I have windows Vista... I downloaded all of the driver updates... but when i try to open VDJ, it says "Error In the ASIO sound driver" and I cant play any music from the software... can anyone help?

it will do when you open virtualdj with it connected for the first time. you need to , click ok.....then let vdj load even though its told u theres an error. then when it loads go intpo config settings and go to sound setup and set it to INPUTS - NONE, OUTPUTS - HEADPHONES, SOUNDCARD - HERCULES RMX...... then go to "remote control tab and right click the Hercules console thumbnail and click "ENABLE". then all should work :)~

autogain is the funtion that equalize the soundof the tracks to the speakers, although the gain level of the tracks ar not the same??? how I turn on this funtion???

within virtual dj, go to "CONFIG", then in config click the "OPTIONS" Tab then look for "autogain" , its on the right hand side, then using the drop down menu set it to "AUTO" or "AUTO + REMEMBER", then click "OK" and all will be good :)

ok sorry for late reply dude, , when i said PFL (pre fade listen) , I meant "CUE SELECT" buttton..........its the same thing but itis called cue select on the RMX. the config button depending on which skin u r using is either a button labled "settings", "set", "config" or in some cases just an ICON that looks like a COG WHEEL . usually its at the top right hand side of the screen , its where u change all of the settings for vdj including skins, soundcard, preferences etc. :)

the static u are hearing will be "ground loop hum" from your laptop , its the power supply to the laptop that causes it. try unplugging your laptop from the power supply and see if that stops it.

to use the headphones to monitor, whils in vdj , click "config" then "sound settings" and make sure the settings are as follows: INPUTS - NONE, OUTPUTS - HEADPHONES, SOUNDCARD(S) - HERCULES RMX, OUTPUT CHANNELS - MASTER 1,2... HEADPHONES 3,4 .then all should be gud :)

also make sure you press the PFL button on the RMX over the deck you want to preview in your headphones.

You can't use headphones unless you configure Virtual DJ to run with the soundcard on the mixer. You then need to connect the outputs on the rear of the DJ Console RMX (see 2.50 of the video) to speakers.
