I need instruction below novice level for me to understand it :P I have this game on my computer and would like to understand how to play it better but he is too advanced for me.
I would lead diamonds. with a hand like that there is little to no chance you will be able to dump those cards so getting rid of them on the first couple of tricks would be ideal.
@sasuke2277 Why push it with high diamonds when its possible someone will take the queen possibly before a diamond is led. If hearts are broken early you could also dump one of your high diamonds (most likely the king unless you suspect someone is running) on a heart lead lessening your chances or catching the queen on the diamonds. Spade is a standard lead back in that spot imo, but I would just probable lead the 8 in that spot.
I don't either. This guy doesn't sound like he's talking to novices, he's talking like he's giving a refresher course to intermediate or advanced players.
I'm a novice, but I think this is farily basic. All he's saying is there's no danger to take the first trick with the Ac because no one can dump points on the first trick. Then he asks what should you lead with? I didn't quite understand his reason for not leading with clubs, but I'm assuming to save those for later when you need safe clubs. The high diamonds are out b/c of the danger of winning the trick. Leading the lowest spade is thus the best option.
@joshd321 it's a lot better when you watch the entire series.
i would lead a low diamond if i only have a few diamonds and no high diamonds, otherwise i would lead a medium spade.
it's not necessary to lead the lowest spade, since leading with anything lower than the queen guarantees that you won't take the queen. there is a risk of taking a heart, but i'd say that it's probably better in the long run to save the low spades.
@derekli04 Often I will lead middling spades, especially if I hold for eg. J942. I would play the 9 and hold the jack so I can take the lead later if I want it as I have the 4 2 as bail cards.
@krazedgas Sometimes taking 1 or 2 can protect against eating the queen. I see this alot when the holder of the queen only has 1 heart. They will play eg a 10 of hearts and your sitting there with J3 of hearts. Take 4 now or most likely 13 later.

you should avoid tricks.... unless u take all tricks and moon) which means take all tricks then give it to others ...which means ur winning
assasinwife 3 years ago
@assasinwife The best is if you can take 1 to protect against a run/moon and then dump the queen on the losest score :)

Do i want to win tricks in hearts? Or should I just avoid winning tricks with queen of spades?
rockerduff1231 3 years ago
