I'm a magician, and I'm sick and tired of all the retards on Youtube bashing magic "reveals" and tutorials. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH TEACHING HOW TRICKS ARE DONE. People pay to see magic to be entertained, not to learn how the tricks are done. We shouldn't flatter ourselvles. Most people don't care. The people who watch tutorials want to perform the trick, not simply know how it was done. The kids who watch Youtube tutorials aren't going to buy a $60 book on magic anyway.
How exactly is revealing a trick "putting artists out of work"? Do you go to magic shows just to try to figure out how the tricks are done? No, you go to see a performance. Knowing how the trick is done doesn't change that performance.
Maybe you're just angry because you knew how the trick was done (but can't perform it very well) and that made you feel "superior" to those who didn't. A good illusionist is good even if the audience knows how every trick is done.
Decided to revisit, and read some more comments. You see, posting as you say you're 'teaching' is a misnomer. Teaching comes from a space of understanding, guiding 'students' through the minutae of intricacies. None of this is evident. Those wishing to learn from your 'performance' will continue the cycle of badly performed 'magic' & think it good, 'great' and ...'cool'. To 'teach' you have to be a teacher. So forgive my 'rudeness' when I say you're not. Learn more about how it all works.

However in saying that simply making videos of "youtubes best card tricks REVEALED!!!" and all the other nonsense ending in REVEALED!!! simply is 9 times out of 10 a result of a hobbyist magician who DOES NOT have the ability to perform a well structured flowing card ROUTINE. As a result they perform a few tricks and are probably put up with by spectators.
And that's why it's not a terrible idea to post this kind of thing on Youtube. It provides a unique opportunity to receive criticism. Being critical, however, is different than calling people by derogatory names and condemning their entire performances.
@CardsAsWeapons maybe i was a little harsh. but if your going to "reveal" somthing, then at least learn about all the subtleties involved in making the trick magical. otherwise people learning this stuff end up doing it all wrong and with no finess what so ever.
I don't think you showing this on YouTube hurts any working magician....(I am) If some one see's the way you perform this they would pay 2 x's my asking price...

I don't post often but if you see a video and they have all 12 of there dirty packs of cards setting out, it get's a "please don't watch me" sent to my brain..This video made it about 20 seconds..

Why do they need to have a well structured routine? I can think of 5 magicians than have won FISM that have no good routine and terrible presentation skills. Personally, I see no problem with a "hobbyist" magician posting a video on Youtube. Often times it's a good method of receiving criticism. I also suppose you are against people revealing tricks on Youtube. You're going to hate my series on sleight of hand; hopefully you won't treat me with the same rudeness you've treated him.

I wouldn't call this a bad thing. There are two ways to enjoy magic. The first way is trying to figure out how it's done. The second is appreciating the technique of performers. If you don't want the trick revealed to you, then don't the video. I'm watching Lennart Green reveal all of his tricks right now, and I find it refreshing. Please, think before you speak, and also try being less insulting.
I'm really sick and tired of all the comments about how bad/crappy the performance was, if you don't like it DON'T watch it and that is it, you don't have to be so mean and negative with this guy, he's trying to do the best he can and is trying to help others to learn card tricks.

thats was sweeeeeeet! i had an instance throught out your performance that you were doing some double lifts and i was kinda aware of there being more than 4 cards. to the unskilled magcian or regular person, that is quite the amazing trick
Why are you so nervous doing one of your favs? calm down. Take a breath. Relax. talk slower and the 'dummy' card is refered to as an 'indifferent' card.
when you show the four aces, when u flip them over before you put them together, u can see the back of at least 6cards when ur supposed to have only 4- the aces.. you revealed ur dummy cards son
a quick thing you can change is make a magic crumple or something before you show your hand empty, then do this again before you slap or spread the cards, this makes is harder for people to guess what you are doing.

@DeannaMariee Sorry Deanna, but I can't agree with that. There are quite some magicians who make a living out of performing magic, for instance by doing 3 shows or gigs a day. How did they do anything wrong? What about musicians making a living out of performing music rather than making records in the studios all day long and not being able to perform for real? Performing is the real deal.
If you won't be able to make a living out of it, like this guy, you're doing something wrong.
Let's add the fact that every art is sort of limited. Just like music, visual art and what not, magic has its limits. As the basis is already there, it's hard to create really new things. And it's exactly that basis of magic people give away here on YouTube and the internet. Why? Cause they don't have any talents, they can't perform, and it's their only way to get noticed.
I even daily get people commenting stuff like: "Why did he only perform it?? Where is the tutorial?" It's really sickening.

Firstly I agree that there is no place for rudeness between magicians and an air of professionalism should be maintained. However in saying that simply making videos of "youtubes best card tricks REVEALED!!!" and all the other nonsense ending in REVEALED!!! simply is 9 times out of 10 a result of a hobbyist magician who DOES NOT have the ability to perform a well structured flowing card ROUTINE. As a result they perform a few tricks and are probably put up with but spectators

Why do they need to have a well structured routine? I can think of 5 magicians than have won FISM that have no good routine and terrible presentation skills. Personally, I see no problem with a "hobbyist" magician posting a video on Youtube. Often times it's a good method of receiving criticism. I also suppose you are against people revealing tricks on Youtube. You're going to hate my series on sleight of hand; hopefully you won't treat me with the same rudeness you've treated him.

I wouldn't call this a bad thing. There are two ways to enjoy magic. The first way is trying to figure out how it's done. The second is appreciating the technique of performers. If you don't want the trick revealed to you, then don't the video. I'm watching Lennart Green reveal all of his tricks right now, and I find it refreshing. Please, think before you speak, and also try being less insulting.

What is the difference in buying/finding it elsewhere? You didn't invent the damn trick dumbass, only that person can say don't reveal it. And if you did invent it, you must have revealed it for somebody else to perform it. And if you invented it and DID NOT reveal it, then it's simple as that - the card trick sucked.

a quick thing you can change is make a magic crumple or something before you show your hand empty, then do this again before you slap or spread the cards, this makes is harder for people to guess what you are doing.

I don't know what your magician background is BassmrDK so I won't really judge but in all fairness, if these are the tricks you're doing in your shows, you're second rate at best.

I don't get what the big deal is about him revealing this. there's a million reveal videos out there, and yes, magicians have to earn a living, but saying that on every reveal video isn't going to fix that. And if you don't want to know the secret because you think it ruins the fun, then don't watch the video!

@TheSoulOfBasement15 its easy to learn these tricks or to find out how they're done... you go to the magician's website who is responsible for creating the effect (note that this prick didn't even have the decency to credit the original performer - not that he's doing it well anyway) and you PURCHASE the trick. because, yes shockingly, magicians earn a living with their magic.

@DeannaMariee Sorry Deanna, but I can't agree with that. There are quite some magicians who make a living out of performing magic, for instance by doing 3 shows or gigs a day. How did they do anything wrong? What about musicians making a living out of performing music rather than making records in the studios all day long and not being able to perform for real? Performing is the real deal.
If you won't be able to make a living out of it, like this guy, you're doing something wrong.

Let's add the fact that every art is sort of limited. Just like music, visual art and what not, magic has its limits. As the basis is already there, it's hard to create really new things. And it's exactly that basis of magic people give away here on YouTube and the internet. Why? Cause they don't have any talents, they can't perform, and it's their only way to get noticed.
I even daily get people commenting stuff like: "Why did he only perform it?? Where is the tutorial?" It's really sickening.
