  • when taping the inside does it need to be one piece of tape or can i do small strips layered over each other

  • @tadeadliest Keep them as long as you can along the straight areas. I overlap smaller strips around the corners with n/p. It's more important to get the air bubbles out.

  • Very helpful, thanks

Do you suggest a clear or dark colored tub? I've seen both. I was thinking that dark would be preferred because the roaches don't like lite.

  • @Aquajerryum I like dark colored tubs just as you said for less light. Glad the video was helpful to you!

  • can you use vasaline insted of tape

  • @TheEvilPaintballer - Everyone used to but roaches can still get thru it. Tapes just easier and less messy. Works like a charm too!

  • Thanks man for take in the time to make this video!! A++

  • Hey man. As far as I'm concerned, these things are REALLY legit, and easy to take care of. I got 10 males and 10 females and 25 nymphs for like $20 on craigslist, and I was just wondering if I should seperate the little Nymphs from the biggers ones. Because I see people talking about doing that. But I've had my little colony growing pretty good for a couple months now, and I haven't really gone out of my way at all to take care of them like that. Any help about separation would be nice.

  • this is gonna sound stupid prob :P but do u ship to Canada i got 2 bearded dragons n hate crickets but i cant find a place to sell them ?

  • @UnhappyBook I wish I could but I cannot ship internationally. Your best bet would be to keep an eye on the classifieds found on different international forums. I'm not too familiar who has what in Canada but I'm sure someone on a forum could guide you to someone who sells them up there. Good Luck!

  • I too live in South East FL and my son has a young beardie that I would looooove to be able to give Dubias to . Seems the main reason they feel that Dubia's should not be in FL is because of our "great" weather, but it's getting colder every winter down here. This January / Febuary we had temps with the highs in the 60's for two straight weeks. It we get freezes in the winter months now. Just doesn't seem fair. If you decide to ship to the far South, I'm in!

  • what's this thing about Dubia being forbidden in FL? I live in FL and the damn things run around outside and in your house!! Plus I'm ordering my 1st (t's) in Sept and I was liking what I've seen about the Dubia better than the stinky crickets. Now they are forbidden in FL? Are you kidding me?

  • where can i get a shirt?

  • Hey Ian,

I just ordered some B.discoidalis roaches, I was wondering if you had any experience with them and if I can/should use the same or a similar set up with them as you would with dubias?

I would love to order dubias but living in Florida that's nigh impossible unless I break the law! lol

  • @KAMERUS88 I'm actually breeding Discoids again. Care for them in the same way you would Dubia. However, they can't stand high heat like Dubia. 85 degrees is perfect.

I've been on the phone w/ officials in Tallahassee quite a bit and none of them can produce documents that forbid Dubia in Fl. I've even had a couple of them tell me they don't know what I'm talking about. I'll tell you this, I think it's a load of crap and w/ the econ the way it is I may be shipping to FL very soon.

  • @TheRoachRanch1

    Hey Ian,

That sounds awesome! Please keep us updated on anything that you find! Also thanks for posting these helpful videos for us Roach newbies! I'm so excited to say goodbye to crickets once and for all!

  • @TheRoachRanch1

I had the same result Ian. No one could find anything forbidding B. Dubia in Florida

  • thanks man

  • hey ian another question can b dubia eat pineapple?

  • @Tarantulakid1997 As far as fruits and vegetables, feeder roaches will eat anything you feed them bud.

  • hey ian one more question can i put dog food in with cat food and also im thinking about giving my colony oranges is that good?

  • @Tarantulakid1997 Sorry man I don't know how I missed this. YES, everything you are feeding them I feed mine. You're guys will do just great.

  • ok i put cat food and water gel in my bin should i be fine

  • @Tarantulakid1997 You should be good to go now buddy. Good Luck!

  • ok thanks for the tip im kinda new to the b dubia colony lol

  • what if i dont have roach chow what do i feed them?

  • @Tarantulakid1997 They eat any kind of produce but like sweeter fruits like Oranges and Apples the best. Get a high protein low crude fat dog or cat food. Grind it up and they'll eat that right up. A lot of people (including myself) use that as a form of roach chow.

  • how often should i feed my b dubia colony?

  • @Tarantulakid1997 You want to keep them gutloaded w/ chow and crystals 24/7 and feed them produce at least a couple times a week. Remember you aren't feeding the roaches for their own health your gutloading them for the animals you are feeding. So whatever you want to accomplish by feeding roaches make sure they are fed appropriately.

  • hey love your videos man just ordered from you and been talking to you through email. all bearded dragon owners and reptile owners need to buy your roaches from the roach ranch great guy.

  • Will they chew through a mesh screen? I need to add more ventilation to my tubs and all I have is a mess screen.

  • @ROFLpwnedvideos Yes over time they will. What I do is vent on the sides in the middle of the tub close to the top. Then I glue the mesh on and tape around the mesh on the inside so they can't get onto it.

  • Great vid man , and great service.

  • awesome video man!!! i been wanting to have chameleon but stayed away from them because of the crickets and this here is my solution. caant wait to order from you, thanks for the video!

  • @dantheta2man You are free to enjoy the Reptile hobby again! Glad the video helped!

  • u should do a cleaning video it would be really helpful

  • @tomcatpilot13 point noted and I think it's a great idea. I will keep that in mind as we work thru making more of the vids! Thanks for checking them out as well!

    -Ian

  • Haha. Video cahhhhesheet. Where are you guys from?

  • LMAO!! About 40 miles outside the hallowed grounds of Fenway Park. Although I'm closer to Providence RI. Thanks for checking out the video!

  • pretty cool i made a video also, but mine wasn't taped its just pictures.

  • Would heat tape or a heat pad work well on a sterilite bin like that?

  • I know people use both applications, not sure how safe they are. You'll need a T-stat w/ heat tape also.

  • Okay, yeah, I might just use a $20 heat pad or something..

    Would a heat lamp work?

  • A heat lamp would work but you'd probably have to keep the top off your enclosure and I wouldn't recommend that. I know some people use CHE's and Infared Lamps but do your homework first. Not worth creating a fire hazzard over roaches.

  • Glad you all enjoyed the video. Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated!

  • Very nice Ian.

    -Greg

  • excellent video

  • I just got too watch and I put sime sliced oranges in will that do for now as the water crystals and I'm still waiting on babies lol but great vid 5* bro

  • Ha ha! What's up buddy?! Glad the move went good. Get onto ebay and look up cricket gel or water gel. It's cheap.

  • cool video man...still waiting on my first batch of babies to hatch from the Dubias i ordered from you.. Do you ever plan on carrying any other breed of feeder roaches?

  • They'll be dropping babies before you know it bro, trust me! I'm not sure what direction I'll be going w/ inside the reptile industry. I've got a few different ideas.
