Thank you I sometimes forget to break down a kick into the basic movements and steps for some of the beginners at my dojang and what happens is since they don't transfer their weight forward, they spin, kick and push themselves away from their target doing minimal damage while losing balance. I guess we martial artists emphasize the spin a little too much when the spin is not the only factor in a successful kick. Thanks for the helpful reminder.
@colefizz123 i dont doubt you my friend. but i think this guy knows more about kicks. as far as power and hips i think it really depends on what kick you are using
@colefizz123 You misunderstood his point. True power comes from the manipulation of your body mass so that it travels in the direction of your strike. The hips are the perfect tool for manipulating your mass. However, for linear techniques like the back kick, if you move just your hips without shifting your body weight into the movement (so that it travels in the same direction as the strike), you will not have as much power. This is what he is trying to explain in this video.

bull shit...... i have always used my hips for about 4-5 years of fighting and i maybe lost once......so hips does work.
