Feel in love with Fleet foxes the first time I heard them. Wow...such beautiful music...so reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel and other folk/rock artist...love it!!
FYI: The Lorelei is a rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine near St. Goarshausen, Germany, which soars some 120 metres above the waterline. It marks the narrowest part of the river between Switzerland and the North Sea. A very strong current and rocks below the waterline have caused many boat accidents there. Lorelei is also the name of a feminine water spirit, similar to mermaids or Rhine maidens, associated with this rock in popular folklore and in works of music, art and literature.
Lorelei is the name of a rock which caused many ships on the River Rhine in Germany to sink. So they fashioned a legend that on this rock a beautiful nymph was seducing the sailors with her looks. They lose control and crash against the rock. I grew up in the region near the Lorelei rock.
I listened to this album as i was walking through my grandparent's old farmstead, nestled in the golden hills of the Appalachians. One of the most moving esperiences of my life.
oh shut up all of you. Didnt you hear recycling is good for the environment and stuff. Be quiet and enjoy the song. Or hate it. I dont care, either way... shut up.

cryptomnesia is when you have a memory but bealive it is something you created . whoever wrote this song probably heard 4th time around and then later wrote this song thinking he had invented the melody, no big deal
@authorityblues I can see why you would think that, but there is no way that Pecknold would ever rip something off of one of his favorite folk singers. Just because there is a similar beat and 3 or 4 notes sound the same doesn't mean plagarism... Have you ever thought that two great songwriters could come up with similar song structures?! Great minds think alike.
@fluorophore I personally don'y see/hear the connection to "One of These Thngs First" or any Nick Drake song for that matter.... care to enlighten me?
Got hooked on this band when mikanos came out. have been a fan for over 4 years now, Im just new to YT, have been over at mixpod for the last 2 years.
@niggerlips11 Fourth Time around was released on Blonde on Blonde, circa 1966. Norwegian Wood in 1965. It's hard to come off as an expert preaching for people to get their facts straight when you're making an error any true fan would know.
@BigTuna1994 u know when u say circa 1966 u could well be saying it was released in 1964,65,66,67,68,69..haha. And knowing dylan I wouldnt discard the possibility that he'd already written fourth time around and had already performed it for himself. but that's probably not likely in this case.
AWESOME!!! my friend saw them on the street in paris and he is a really good musician and he gave them his cd and they gave him tickets to their concert and backstage passes and now they are friends
this song makes me feel like i've been walking through a forest and then happened upon a beehive full of honey. i eat some honey and chew on the wax, then i take a nap and have a dream which includes all the best moments of my life.... in summary, this song is epicly magical and beautiful
I hate to say it, but as much as I love fleet foxes, I have still yet to find a song on this album that has effected me in the way all their previous work has. Instrumentally, Instead of being simple like the life of a monk, it's more like simple like the life of an infant, it doesn't have the same depth to it that it used to, same with the harmonies, they don't just reach into your soul the way the previous stuff did. It sounds like another band trying to sound like Fleet Foxes
@herbap0tamuss Yeah, I'm waiting to find that evolution, because right now it looks as though the process has gone in reverse on this album. Instead of taking what they've done up to this point and doing it better, they're just trying to immitate what they've done, or immitate other people. And chances are, monks are probably still listening to the Sun Giants EP.
Put in Back in Judy's Jungle by Brian Eno and 4th time around by Bob Dylan (like nicholas said down there), and this pretty much sounds just like them.
Their music (Robin's music) sounds at once anchored in folk music and yet as fresh as spring. I've heard the new album once and I love it but it hasn't resonated like Mykonos or Blue ridge mountains yet.
@ThatGadley yeah my thoughts on first listen as well ,,very similar rhythm and lilting melody ..not sure if there's a copyright issue,,, Bob hopefully would be pleased that a great young band are being influenced by his classics from 45 years ago ,,,shit is it really that long ago ???i'm getting old ..
@stalkingcat123 yeah,, the sesame street albums from the 70's are better than the mainstream crap today .. I've listened to this song in more depth since my last post and it is just brilliant,, just as dylan parodied Norwegian Wood in "4th time" this song parodies 4th time and has its own little twist all 3 songs are classics,
@mugwamp4 yeah their music is so awesome waking up to fleet foxes in the morning helplessless blues album on the alarm, problem is the music is so lovely i just lay their and listen to it untill the alarm give up lol
@stalkingcat123 ..I've put myself on forced abstinence for a week or so i dont O.D on both albums ..but i just cant get those songs out of my head, its driving me nuts .though in a pleasant way ..how do you get the album on your alarm??is it connected to an ipod?? I'm an old fart who still buys vinyl,,so i wouldnt know.
just curious... but how did you get this before its release?? I know the song Helplessness Blues was up on their site but was this true for all of them?
