Statistically speaking, Tea Partiers are in some of the BEST economic shape of citizens in the nation! For example, the median wage of a teabagger is 50k. 50K!! Yet they act like they're SUFFERING under the weight of 90% taxes and extremely high regulatory burdens. Go fuck yourselves and focus on REAL issues, like the 2 wars in the Middle East.
Besides, anyone who'd BOTHER look up the facts knows that Obama DID NOT "overspend" by much. His budgets are pretty much the same as Bush's.
Anyone who is telling you we have a "spending problem" is only telling you half the story. We really DO have a revenue problem! And that's because of the crippling economy (less tax revenue, DUH). If Obama's budgets and proposed spending aren't much higher than Bush's, but the DEFICITS are pretty high, the only explanation is that enough money's not coming in. So we're gonna have to find additional sources of revenue, and it sure didn't help that things like Bush tax cuts decreased them.
Extreme spending cuts in the face of deficits thanks to a lack of revenue is pretty fucking defeatist. Be more CREATIVE, Republicans. Cuts are not THE ONLY OPTIONS. And the only reason we're discussing these cuts is because the deficits are so large thanks to falls in revenue. But we shouldn't get drastic and start cutting necessary programs for those most vulnerable while the TOP income earners and those controlling most of the wealth pay NOTHING. I'm for shared sacrifice. Not a free pass
F.A. Hayek, von Mises, Carl Menger, Israel Kirzner, Murray Rothbard, Henry Hazlitt, etc. were little more than philosophers disguised as economists. They make WAYY too many assumptions about "how the economy works" or "how monetary policy should be" based on little evidence and their own libertarian bullshit anti-gov't worldview.
In a HUGE economic downturn, you guys staged PROTESTS against a big piece of legislation intended to help SPUR growth and create more jobs. I mean, hell, I'll admit that the stimulus HAS 'failed' to some extent, but it wasn't a TOTAL failure.
Nice job, teabaggers! The conservative, anti-gov't rich folks really have their work cut out for them.
You guys decided to PROTEST abstract bullshit about how "highly taxed" you are (oh, please...) and how much the "overspending" in Washington is SOMEHOW trickling down and "hurting" you in a VERY, VERY indirect way. Lol.
Rather than protest the Wall St. criminals who started this whole mess! Or the Republican thugs who gave up every chance to regulate those bankers to prevent that shit from happening in the first place.
The Tea Party is just the post-Bush, late 2000s version of Angry White Man Syndrome. Their "concerns" are fucking bullshit, they SOMEHOW think the rich's interests are THEIR OWN, and they're incredibly anti-fact and anti-research, esp. those birther fucktards (if there even many left).
The majority of Tea Partiers (if not the vast majority) are, you guessed it, REPUBLICANS! Poll after poll, at least in recent months, SHOWS THIS! The vast majority of Independents and especially Democrats are NOT teabaggers.
Most teabaggers are middle-aged and elderly fucktards who've probably never done a big political thing in their lives except vote who are mainly doing this for a 'sense of community' and to 'feel like we're doing something to affect change.'
What few Dems and Indies are actually IN the Tea Party were obviously either moderate or CONSERVATIVE to begin with! There are very few liberal, if any, tea partiers. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN! Hell, even 48% of Republican voters don't support the Tea Party nowadays.
It's mostly partisan Republicans who just wanna bitch about a Democratic president simply he has a "D" instead of an "R" next to his name. It's A-OK if a Republican 'spends too much', but if a Dem proposes it...?
I mean, WHERE was the Tea Party when Bush was in office?
If John McCain was elected president, WOULD there even be a Tea Party?? I highly doubt it. The Tea Party started out mainly as a movement against Democratic spending, not "spending" overall. They just CLOAK their 'concerns' in "nonpartisanship" to hide their real agendas.
I mean, where are the Tea Partiers, if they care SOO much about overspending, who are complaining about the bloated Defense budget? Sure don't see many of THOSE!
"Tea Party" is a Big Lie. It's not the simple 1700s. We now have millions of life-saving water-food-air-safety, police, military, etc. provided by "big government" (We The People). During the real Tea Party there were no freeways, bridges nor school that allowed real tax-paying patriots to work & contribute to the superior progress this nation has. I've never whined about paying taxes as without regulations many of us wouldn't be here. Due to Cheney's deregulations the Gulf is an oil pool."
It is kind of amazing some "people" think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on Youtube by varying "people"). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it's your own responsibility and your money allocation--but you can't plan a medical affliction. Not the same. I simply note one anti-health plan person on Ytube had her two fave videos as a) a revolver shooting into a tank, and b) a clip of Milton F'man on "Greed". True!!
Currently, Obama has adopted an economic viewpoint and approach that has never been shown to work on the scale of a national economy in the face of economic recession. Our government has enacted huge spending plans, increased taxation on businesses, and now owns a major car manufacturer and nationwide banks. This is not a matter of opinion. The difference of opinion occurs with whether or not you agree with the direction we are going. To date I have yet to see evidence of growth caused by Obama.
Thillcekr, so what you are arguing is that because only a small portion of Americans showed up to the tea parties, that this somehow proves that the majority of Americans are satisfied with the stimulus and tax policy? Are you aware that the Boston Tea Party was comprised of an even smaller portion of the population of the day?
Being a soldier does not provide support for any of your economic views. Pulling out that card does not showcase some unspoken grasp of economic theory.
The funniest part of this is that hardly anyone showed up. I guess not many people were put off by the idea of those benefitting the most here in America paying their fair share. I wonder how many of these morons are actually making enough money for that legislation to have any effect on them. Probably almost none.
You're not even smart enough to distinguish between "your" and "you're" much less read and comprehend tax law.
My liberties taken? This effects me in no way. The rich folks that don't wanna pay the same taxes as the average working class person are the ones screaming. They didn't stand up for me back when Bush Sr. raised my taxes and Reagan before him so both they, and you, can slobber on my knob you freakin' nut covered dog log.
The protest was about the stimulus and the banker bailouts, neither of which helped out anyone in attendance at the tea party. I don't know what you think about the turnout, but 400 people is more then I have EVER seen for a Democratic candidate in Columbia. Ever. The bailouts are BOTH both Bush and Obama's fault.. definitely was not a Fox News tea party, it was sponsored by a local Libertarian talk show host.
If 400 is more than you have ever seen for a democratic rally in Columbia then you obviously don't get out very much. Columbia is a democratic stronghold within the state of Missouri. That's a well known fact. Imagine that. The city with the highest concentration of educated people in the state not supporting your flakey right wing extremist beliefs. More people show up to see the Mizzou girls golf team than for your little fruitcake rally. Sad, sad, sad.
You weren't present obviously. There were a lot of angry people (Democrats, Libertarians and Republicans alike) crammed into Peace Park for this event.
You must be the types who believes everything you see on TV and nothing much else. Mindless sheep.
...Good little slaves never question their Master.
All of this from a 28 year old fucking kid that's probably never even been out of central Missouri. Trust me little girl when I tell you that I'm a hell of a lot more aware of what is going on out there than you'll ever be. Back when you were watching Barney I was in Desert Storm, Somalia, Rwanda and a couple of dozen other places around the world wearing a uniform for this country so you could run your mouth about stuff you know nothing about.
I love how (SOME of) the folks from your generation sit back and pompously site the places they've been and the battles they've fought... yet lack true knowledge of our basic rights. You fought for everything our founding documents stand for - and I thank and respect you for that - but have you ever actually read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence? How about Common Sense? Anyone claiming allegiance to this country should be familiarized.

I love how the folks of your generation like to make claims that others are naive when you have been nowhere and seen nothing. This issue has nothing to do with my basic rights and if you had any "true knowledge" you would know that.
The only people affected by this are people that have been getting away with not paying the same share of taxes as everyone else. Being a 28 year old that's barely removed from being a kid it's highly unlikely that you've ever made enough money in all of your years combined to qualify to have your taxes raised. Sadly, the people this actually will affect will do what they've always done. Lawyers will find a way to get them out of this while common people like you will pick up their share.
Are you serious??! Do you even have a clue what you're talking about??? Being ten years our junior, I'd say lizlivit knows much more about economics than you ....!
Interesting debate, even if only one side of it has any kind of argument..
Oh you should probably hide your favorites if you're going to try to make it appear as if you two aren't familiar with one another and you just happen to be a random passer by who agrees with her. That might work with folks who are a little less street smart but it only took me about two seconds to see where you and her were posting on another thread together. You're gonna have to do a little better than that man.
Read Peter Schiff's Crashproof, or Murray Rothbard's America's Great Depression. If that's too much, read the sleeves! I have little doubt that you've ever even heard of the Austrian business cycle or Keynesian econ until my comments.
Economists of the Austrian school WARNED Americans of the precise economic struggles we face now. Peter Schiff, Rothbard, Von Mises.. they knew that government interference - and intervention - was going to be our downfall. Keynes' theory says that the government can spend the country out of recession if they just spend enough. Most people with any sense realize that using inflation as a means to prop up government spending is unethical.
@lizolivit The whole "government caused the financial crisis" story is so oversimplified and tired. Please don't give me that Austrian "economics" bullshit. IT'S NOT ECONOMICS! Where are the empirical studies with rigorous testing and statistical tools? AUSTRIAN ECONOMICS HAS NONE! Or very few that have even an ounce of credibility. Most Austrian "economics" is just pure logic about the economy discussed in a monetary way.
I'm sorry, but that shit ain't economics. Never been proven
@lizolivit You know who else predicted the crash? Paul Krugman! Plus, I'm sure I could find you at least a HANDFUL of non-Austrian economists who predicted the crash before Sept. 2008. Just because you can PREDICT something's going to happen doesn't necessarily mean you're a total expert on things like the economy or proper policy. Only an IDIOT couldn't see the financial crisis coming!

After reading the whole back and forth debate I fail to see where the young lady actually posted anything indicative of the fact that she had anything worthy of responding to. I teach economics at UMKC and nothing she said proves that she knows anything. If I assigned her to write an essay and the best thing she could come up with is "I challenge you to read up on Keynesian vs Austrian business cycle" she'd fail my class miserably. Explain how it's at all relevant and offer some specifics.
It's a good thing this isn't your class where comments aren't limited to 500 characters and the audience isn't overly hostile to any information put forward. I mean we wouldn't want to put any perspective on this or anything correct? Furthermore, posting a comment which unilaterally tries to refute someone's argument on the basis of a grading scale is quite humorous. You have offered nothing to the discussion which you claim to have read; This is what you accuse her of in this debate.
Better yet, since you agree with this young lady perhaps you could explain it to me. I'm always interested in reading different people's points of view on economic theory.
These morons don't even know what they're protesting over. Rich people being forced to pay an equal portion of their income as what I pay? Sign me up. As a working class Joe I'm tired of carrying their dead ass weight and mine too.
stop being such a ignorant racist and try to get with the program you stupid bastard, And from your comments it is very likely you are a bastard child.
Thrillcekr... You're not right in the head. Pick up a calculator, and read a book. You, me, and our future generations are being fleeced in the form of taxation through inflation using Keynesian econ. It's not the rich who are getting hit, it's EVERYONE who's not Super-Rich. Seriously ignorant comments here. Do your research before saying things that make you look ridiculously dense.

You're a brain washed idiot. I know exactly what I paid in taxes and what I'll pay next year. The problem with people like yourself is that you let these folks who haven't been paying their fair share into the system convince you that YOU are the one who will suffer. The fact is that YOU have been picking up the tab for things that aid them in becoming richer at YOUR expense. Use your head man. You're living under the same kind of unfair system that we fought the Brits to get away from.
You haven't been paying attention to all of the Bush or Obama administrations' actions. I challenge you to read up on Keynesian vs Austrian business cycle. Our responses to the economic crisis are simply fueling us towards a delayed collapse. Printing more money devalues our hard-earned dollars just as counterfeit does. The private bank called the FED is creating money from thin air. So read up on it, then explain to me how this is going to help the economy, and why it's bad idea to protest it
I challenge you to tell me how either of those explains why it's a good idea for someone that makes six figures a year to pay a smaller portion of their income in taxes than a struggling mother who makes such a small paycheck that she qualifies for government assistance that you'll end up paying for. Perhaps you should read up on that and explain to me why you think you should protest that sort of fairness.
Since you claim you want to protest something wasteful I wonder where you were when our government sent the young men and women who have actually done something for this country besides post uninformed comments on youtube. I'm referring to the hundreds of billions spent sending troops overseas to get shot at in search of nonexistant weapons of mass destruction. I'll bet you protested the closing of Gitmo too even though its a colossal waste of taxpayers money.
hey stupid, it is the liberal media that lies about th e turn outs of the tea parties, if neil did it to shame on him, but you know the liberal media is trying to down play the events and for proof just watch my video of CBS parked down the street trying to do a interview which would show only 10% of the event. what a joke they are, liberals that is.
Always. Anytime somebody reports something that rednecks don't like there can never be any truth to it. It's the evil liberal media. Funny thing is that the most powerful media mogul in the United States, and the world, is Rupert Murdoch. A die hard conservative.
Murdoch is 1 of 5 owners of every newspaper and tv channel. The other 4 owners to whom you bow too and suck off are liberal progressive scumbags such as yourself.
That's like saying I own a 25% share of the Columbia paper and myself and the other 4 owners of that paper control the media even though your stupid ass owns every other news outlet in the world. Murdoch owns the largest share of news services in the entire world BY FAR! Get his hand out of your ass. Think for yourself rather than regurgitating spoon fed propaganda designed to keep your ignorant ass down. You're being punked by the same people whose sack you're swingin' off of ya door knob.
Hahahaha. Of course. It was a big conspiracy. Even the cameras were lying. Everybody that doesn't spread your nazi propaganda is lying regardless of whether there's a mountain of evidence and a mile high stack of video footage to prove otherwise. How is anyone supposed to take a freakin' retard like you seriously when you'll continue to lie your stupid face off even when you're caught. Reminds me of some jerk off on cops that continues to plead innocent even after being caught red handed.
Look it up yourself ya lazy fuck. Don't you know how to use a computer outside of posting ignorant and uninformed remarks on youtube? There were shots of these "tea party" gatherings taken all over America. The mass outrage was practically non-existant because the majority of Americans are smarter than yourself and aren't wasting their time defending people that have been fucking them for years. Even the million man march was much less of a flop than this protest.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Can't site one piece of evidence. How about a point in the right direction? A URL, a "google this:"? Something more than empty rhetoric.
You have a seriously limited vocabulary there Old Crotchety.
In other words, you're afraid, or incapable of, typing in a few words into a search engine. I guess if you're that dense I can hold your hand and tell you what to type in here. Type in tea party tax protest. Read the articles and comb through until you see anything citing estimated attendance. Additionally, I encourage you to do a video search.
The facts are irrelevant to you. You keep talking in circles because you really can't put up a decent argument. Four hundred people? A slight exaggeration by most accounts but just to humor you let's say that's true. For an area the size of the Columbia metro that's a drop in the bucket. The rally in KC and STL drew even less. Barely a thousand total showed statewide in a red state that voted for McCain with 6 million people and that's a huge outcry to you?
Btw, have you attended a single Democratic event in CoMo? Because yes, we have quite a liberal base with the University.. but if you're involved in local politics at all you would know that what is stated about the turnout is true. Again, you were not there - but hey, you can read it in the paper if you're so inclined.
If you can't keep it civil, I will begin removing all your comments. You're not creating a very strong argument with this language nor are you making yourself look good.
I am not a fan of censorship but if you seriously have nothing better to say than incoherent insults then please move on.
The people enslave themselves. When American "juries" stop sending citizens who refuse to pay the income tax to prison, then and only then will Americans be free. The American people will never see change until they understand that they must (with respect to the income tax), always vote NOT GUILTY in the jury box!! w w w . truthattack . o r g
I don't know why others attack us. My sister thinks that we are rude rednecks. I just don't care anymore let our government stick it to them. I am a fan of B.F. Skinner. If they cannot understand the ramifications of these policies, let them and future generations suffer the consequences.
well considering how tea was the noose around the necks of those back before the revolution (taxation w/out representation), if blacks were there wouldnt they do something like have a noose burning party?
On the contrary, some of the bigger parties around the country had several black speakers. Srsly. Trying to portray the people at these protests as racist is lowbrow. Even for a liberal.
Statistically speaking, Tea Partiers are in some of the BEST economic shape of citizens in the nation! For example, the median wage of a teabagger is 50k. 50K!!
Never been proven
whoo689 8 months ago

Explain how it's at all relevant and offer some specifics.
w00lyb00ger 2 years ago
It's a good thing this isn't your class where comments aren't limited to 500 characters and the audience isn't overly hostile to any information put forward. I mean we wouldn't want to put any perspective on this or anything correct? Furthermore, posting a comment which unilaterally tries to refute someone's argument on the basis of a grading scale is quite humorous. You have offered nothing to the discussion which you claim to have read; This is what you accuse her of in this debate.
Solarin1116 2 years ago 5
Better yet, since you agree with this young lady perhaps you could explain it to me. I'm always interested in reading different people's points of view on economic theory.
w00lyb00ger 2 years ago
These morons don't even know what they're protesting over. Rich people being forced to pay an equal portion of their income as what I pay? Sign me up. As a working class Joe I'm tired of carrying their dead ass weight and mine too.

thrillcekr,
stop being such a ignorant racist and try to get with the program you stupid bastard, And from your comments it is very likely you are a bastard child.
PatriotReporting 2 years ago 2
Hahaha. Racist? I didn't realize inbred dipshit was a race. My bad.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago

Thrillcekr 2 years ago
You haven't been paying attention to all of the Bush or Obama administrations' actions. I challenge you to read up on Keynesian vs Austrian business cycle. Our responses to the economic crisis are simply fueling us towards a delayed collapse. Printing more money devalues our hard-earned dollars just as counterfeit does. The private bank called the FED is creating money from thin air. So read up on it, then explain to me how this is going to help the economy, and why it's bad idea to protest it
lizolivit 2 years ago 4
I challenge you to tell me how either of those explains why it's a good idea for someone that makes six figures a year to pay a smaller portion of their income in taxes than a struggling mother who makes such a small paycheck that she qualifies for government assistance that you'll end up paying for. Perhaps you should read up on that and explain to me why you think you should protest that sort of fairness.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Since you claim you want to protest something wasteful I wonder where you were when our government sent the young men and women who have actually done something for this country besides post uninformed comments on youtube. I'm referring to the hundreds of billions spent sending troops overseas to get shot at in search of nonexistant weapons of mass destruction. I'll bet you protested the closing of Gitmo too even though its a colossal waste of taxpayers money.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
hey stupid, it is the liberal media that lies about th e turn outs of the tea parties, if neil did it to shame on him, but you know the liberal media is trying to down play the events and for proof just watch my video of CBS parked down the street trying to do a interview which would show only 10% of the event. what a joke they are, liberals that is.
PatriotReporting 2 years ago 2
Always. Anytime somebody reports something that rednecks don't like there can never be any truth to it. It's the evil liberal media. Funny thing is that the most powerful media mogul in the United States, and the world, is Rupert Murdoch. A die hard conservative.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Hey dumb ass.
Murdoch is 1 of 5 owners of every newspaper and tv channel. The other 4 owners to whom you bow too and suck off are liberal progressive scumbags such as yourself.
PatriotReporting 2 years ago
That's like saying I own a 25% share of the Columbia paper and myself and the other 4 owners of that paper control the media even though your stupid ass owns every other news outlet in the world. Murdoch owns the largest share of news services in the entire world BY FAR! Get his hand out of your ass. Think for yourself rather than regurgitating spoon fed propaganda designed to keep your ignorant ass down. You're being punked by the same people whose sack you're swingin' off of ya door knob.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Hahahaha.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Show me this mountain of video footage that proves *what* again? I wanna see it. This outta be interesting.

Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Yeah, that's what I thought. Can't site one piece of evidence. How about a point in the right direction? A URL, a "google this:"? Something more than empty rhetoric.
You have a seriously limited vocabulary there Old Crotchety.
lizolivit 2 years ago 4
In other words, you're afraid, or incapable of, typing in a few words into a search engine. I guess if you're that dense I can hold your hand and tell you what to type in here. Type in tea party tax protest. Read the articles and comb through until you see anything citing estimated attendance. Additionally, I encourage you to do a video search.
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
The facts are irrelevant to you. You keep talking in circles because you really can't put up a decent argument. Four hundred people? A slight exaggeration by most accounts but just to humor you let's say that's true. For an area the size of the Columbia metro that's a drop in the bucket. The rally in KC and STL drew even less. Barely a thousand total showed statewide in a red state that voted for McCain with 6 million people and that's a huge outcry to you?
Thrillcekr 2 years ago
Btw, have you attended a single Democratic event in CoMo? Because yes, we have quite a liberal base with the University.. but if you're involved in local politics at all you would know that what is stated about the turnout is true. Again, you were not there - but hey, you can read it in the paper if you're so inclined.
lizolivit 2 years ago

Skinner. If they cannot understand the ramifications of these policies, let them and future generations suffer the consequences.
snowchoux 2 years ago
No. This Tea Party was roughly a month ago and was a local event. No Fox News.
AmberHanneken 2 years ago
LOL, Funny how most of the Tea party video's around the Nation on YouTube all lack one thing? Black People!!!
chernmax 3 years ago
well considering how tea was the noose around the necks of those back before the revolution (taxation w/out representation), if blacks were there wouldnt they do something like have a noose burning party?
PlastikBlakLawnJocky 3 years ago
I have matches!!!
chernmax 3 years ago
On the contrary, some of the bigger parties around the country had several black speakers. Srsly. Trying to portray the people at these protests as racist is lowbrow. Even for a liberal.
