another nice job. nice chair! much better than a throne i can tell ya...the high-hat(two handed)part can be played just as efectively with one. try it...
truly honest, I enjoyed this clip mostly because you played it with your own personality and you nailed it. You tube is full of people who post drumming vids with no feel whatsoever and definitely no personality. To be something in life you have to be yourself and to take things seriously, you certainyl do. cheers!
LMFAO...I would love to hang out with this dude...love the beer salute in the start of this and you can tell he gets bored with the song and adds his own fills near the last minute...hahahaha. Excellent.
Yeah, I really wish he would show what he can do, that's why I listen to Rush. They used to describe themselves as more overindulgent, in fact on the title of la villa strangiato from Hemispheres in 1977 or 1978 they call the song " an excercise in self indulgence " I think. metalfiend124
Hey man good job, this is the first time I've given a good comment to an amateur musician video here, because frankly most suck, but that was great man
Neil's solos are boderline impossible, but his songs are very reserved in their use of technique -- they're usually mostly simple, with only one or two tricky parts thrown in there. And those tricky parts -- his signature ride pattern (ti, tibby, tah; ti, ti, tibby tibby tah) -- are usually repeated over and again with no variation.
He is actually a very conservative drummer, if you think about it. Relative to guys like Beauford or Carey, he's rudimentary. He has more technique than either of those guys, sure, but he rarely uses it.
Yeah, I think he orchestrates his parts. There's only 3 instruments, and he has to fill up a lot of room. He has plenty of oportunity to play whatever he wants, so I think he shows nice restraint. When I first started listening to them, they were accused of overplaying! All three players have won awards from magazines. I do wish they'd find more room live to improvise, they're my favorite trio of instrumentalists and love when they interplay. metalfiend124
I actually think it's a shame that Neil DOESN'T use his chops more often -- he's falling behind the curve of guys like Dany Carey, whom I mentioned above. It's sad. And it doesn't help that his parts are typically repetitive, rudimentary and boring these days.
That's an interesting setup, it looks like all of your cymbals are like 8 feet off the ground! But you maneuver around your set like its nothing! Great job!
Yet another classic Rush song played by you, that was also an outstanding performance. I'd really like to see you jam to Fly by Night, Spirit of Radio, and Freewill, because that would be worth wile to see you drum to those songs. Keep on rocking dude !,,!-.-!,,!
You've been practicing!!! I've seen many videos to this song, looks like you've studied them well. Good job now let's see Subdivisions or Red Barchetta! haha.
