Somebody, please explain this too me ... why must I search the internet to find good music like this? Music compiled by actual professional musicians and sung by people who can actually sing. We'll never find this on the radio or tv ... quality between these artists and what's on the top 20 chart is massive. The grammy awards are meaningless. The internet will kill the music industry - because they had it coming and they deserve it!
@pinkypinkstery Yup, sometimes I think "how did she stays so golden solo?" or "where did she learn how to surf while being so cold and human, so matador, so calm, so oil on a fire?"
And the only reasonable explanation I found so far it because she's so number nine!.....
I would like to state that this song is simply amazing. As for what your all wondering. This song was written by Yoko Kanno but the singer is Scott Matthew, Yoko Kanno is the person who created the beat for this song and some of the lyrics. Yes this song is random and only somewhat goes off the series it was made for which is what make sit so amazing!
wouldn't be cool to enter this realm of animation so to speak, yet it be real an not what we see it as now, i heard that there workin on a way to link our minds using some type of optical wires since it doesn't cause infection under our skin so much, its more so plastic i believe. that'd be so cool.
It's still on Adult Swim. It comes on on Sunday mornings at ... 3:00am and 6:00am, depending on whether you're watching Cartoon Network East or West. I just record it to my DVR and watch it that way.
The thing with the lyrics is that they make a lot more sense with the message of the anime for me. Each one may interpret it differently with or without seeing the series of course, but I think is really related to that
Yoko Kanno is the COMPOSER. I keep seeing arguements between whose the Artist, Yoko Kanno or the Seatbelts. Yoko Kanno is the COMPOSER. Not the one who performs it.
@skybeets Well that's because it's about drug abuse... Lithium is a medication for people with manic disorders and can be easily abused, I'm sure. At least, I'm pretty sure that is what this song is about.
@skybeets The lyrics aren't random, they're actually tightly related to the GITS series/films. But I guess you could consider them random when you're not familiar with the GITS universe and the Major.
@AshesofHarumi Lithium is not only a strong medication for depressive people, it's also an element used in batteries and High-Tech stuff, so there could be various ways of interpreting these lines, all related to the Major somehow, which makes the song even more interesting.
I had a sinking feeling that "surf" meant something other than the water sport, but your comment has really put the pieces together for me. Thank you so much! I do love the show and the song.
nice sound quality GJ

GITS'S OST was made by Kanno-san but this track is a creation of Scott Matthew, and he also does the vocals.
MsThanathos 2 months ago
@MsThanathos Nope it's not a Scott Matthew creation. It's actually like this
Lyrics: Tim Jensen
Music: Yoko Kanno
Vocals: Scott Matthew
But I wouldn't have it sung by anyone else if it makes you feel better. His voice is perfect for the song. :)

@234Spotman Yes, it's commonly used in electronics (Ghost in the Shell is heavily about cybernetics).

Lithium Flower was performed by Scott Matthew, with lyrics by Tim Jensen. While Yoko Kanno I believe did the majority of the rest of the soundtrack.

the lyrics arent so random if one knew the premise of the series and one interprets "surf" as kusanagi surfing the digital world.

@skybeets Not extremely random, they do have some relavence
NightProjectS18 6 months ago
@skybeets That's part of yoko Kanno's style.
Its a mix of latin and bunch of others (some aren't real languages) which she uses not to say something but to make the vocalist another instrument.

@skybeets the lyrics actually make plenty of sense, in reference to Kusanagi :D
