@BrunoEspo Thanks for the notice! I set a "Season Pass" for the show to record it! They have been on CNN, being interviewed about the economy, and were the "house band" on a Jerry Springer Pay Per View special.
@hyunhyun21 Because, like every other band on the Warped Tour, Kevin liked them and put them on the "Kevin Says" stage last year. They kicked ass, made loads of fans and friends and came back to for the full tour this year.
Like their label-mates Flogging Molly, they are introducing a generation to a type of music they have never heard before, and they're loving it.
haha i saw these guys yesterday at warped. they were awesome. so refreshing to hear something so unique and fun. it made me forget that 109 degree heat for a while
I saw these people at warped tour on the second. and at first when i saw them i was like "What the hell?" but as soon as they started playing, then i was like "whoa, awesome."
@will15767 Don't let the Rev hear you say that. Bluegrass is a totally different style of music. This is blues. Country, or rural, blues to be precise, the sort that came out of Clarksdale Mississippi in the 1920s and 1930s and was played by people like Charlie Patton.
shit, what they play is one of the first types of blues, i wouldn't say that this has any punk in it to any degree, this is just straight up blues with some high ass energy
@PrenoctopussSejonjon My definition of "punk" might not fit the current definition, which was formed in the first generation of Punk, back in the late 70s. But I think I said that they play with "punk energy". Setting the washboard on fire should qualify.
Sadly their European tour had to be canceled due to the volcano.
Looked this up cause they're going to be on the warped tour. I'm into the blues and folk, and although I necessarily call them either one, I've gotta say, this is pretty cool. Can't wait to see them (:
@acebeaner They're their own style of Blues. The Rev's hero is Charlie Patton, and the Big Damn Band is bringing this music to a new generation. Think of them like the Pogues or Flogging Molly - taking traditional music and revving it up with punk energy. You can find quiet, sedate blues most any night in any big city, same as you can find quiet, sedate Celtic.
They did great on last year's Kevin Says stage for part of the tour, and are on the entire thing on a bigger stage this year.
@cryingangel1957 If you're going to Warped, stop by and see them. It's not as if they are going to cost you extra. They'll be on the stage in front of a a whole bunch of people going totally apeshit.
lmao i saw them play with flogging molly the day before st pattys two years ago. everyone there was just dancing. i mean there was a black guy break dancing in the circle pit. some random dudes and i just started doing that weird redneck dance where you lock elbows and dance around in a circle kicking your feet up. it was pretty awesome. the only thing that could have made the night any better was if i had had some vodka
Really? I thought they were coming to KC to play at Knuckleheads on March 11. I just checked their web site, and they're going to be in Rochester, NY on Feb 24th. Here's the info:
Nope, they are on tour with Clutch/The Bakerton Group and Red Fang.
They loved their tour with Flogging Molly and are forever indebted to the Mollies for helping them get signed, but honestly - the Big Damn Band tours even more than Flogging Molly and they get scheduled up. But it was a good match for them, and the Molly fans were great.
By the way, I have a video up of "Two Bottles of Wine" featuring Matt and Bob of Flogging Molly.
I was searching for info on Paul Mahern, former frontman for a punk band called the Zero Boys, and I found the Rev as Mahern apparently is producing an album with him, or has produced one. These guys are awesome, no doubt.
Bad to the bone! Looking for a video of them doing Tom Rushen Blues!

This is the greatest music I have ever heard!
Kind of "The Real Kids" played backwards...
There's a message in this:::
It says "KILL YURSELF IMMEDIATELY!!!"
Remind me to never go to The House of Losers.
I do dig the washboard player...
In a sick taxiboysdrummerfetish hideous way...
