I am from the U.S. and while I do think it was a terrible thing for citizens to be going about their daily routine only to have hell rain down on them, I feel like it was completely necessary to induce the surrender of Japan, and to preserve future peace through intimidation and mutual destruction. Now that many countries have atomic bombs, no one will attack with nuclear power for fear of destroying the earth.
