  • Vlad Tepes Dracula was killed near Bucuresti, his head was cut off, preserved in honey, put on a stake and sent to the Sultan in what is now called Istanbul. The rumour was that his body was buried at Snagov Monastery which is on an island outside Bucuresti. That apparently was untrue. Comana is a commune in Giurgiu County, Romania, founded by Vlad III "Ţepeş" in 1461. It is composed of five villages: Comana, Vlad Ţepeş, Budeni, Falaştoaca and Grădiştea and is possibly the site of his tomb

  • You girls seem like gobs of fun ...I would love to go with you on a trip.....lollol...I was laughing my ass off ....love the cap lmao

  • It is great people travel, but what is of concern, is that when you visit another country YOU are the visitor & should respect the country you visit:this is proper manners. To come to Romania & say Vladislaus was a vampire, is an insult to his name & the country's hero's (Vladislaus is what he signed on Sibiu and Brasvo archives). Stoker stole his name for a fictional book! Dracula was honored by Pius II & Medici family of Florence(see his portrait in Procession of the Magi) in Chapel Palazzo

  • @neannalina ---and you should respect our money, take it, & stop whining... tourists just wanna have fun

  • @Teresathetraveler Don't listen to that idiot, my wife's family is from Făgăraş, & you didn't say anything wrong according to her. Bran isn't where he lived anyway! I just wish you could've caught on film what your guide was saying was "Black & moving fast".

  • he was never the ruler of romania

  • the lady wearing the glasses is very good looking ;P

  • Glad you had a great time, but it would have been nice if there was more filming of the actual castle and less of the goofing around. Anyway thanks for sharing it with us.

  • you are so right dear, Poienari is the real castle of Vlad Tepes aka Dracula, son of Vlad Dracul. Bran Castle has nothing to do with Dracula`s legend but somehow it attracts more people. In Sighisoara you can find his father`s house, which is a common one, not a castle. Anyway there are hundreds of magic places to visit in Romania, specially Maramures region , a `land forgotten by time`. Thanks for visiting my country :) .Happy B-day Romania and romanians for the 1st of December .

  • where is the part where he drinks your blood & turns into a bat?

  • Also the word Drag, Drage, Dragoste all mean Love, Dear, Beloved etc. Westerners always overlook this, even Romanians. Maybe that's why ppl Love Dracula, The Devil, The Great Dragon & Satan.

Zmaja Red, Ordinul Dragonului, Zarkany Rend....Dragon Order.

    Societas Drakonis

  • I'm Romanian from neighboring Voivodina, I've researched into the stories for a long time, I've come to the conclusion the whole "Son of the Dragon" or "Son of the Devil" thing is a figure of speech, ppl describing him in a negative way. Romanians use Dracul all the time in common talk, especially village folk, they say "Duche Dracului" (Go with the Devil) as an insult or "La Dracu" (for No it's not or It's not so). If you ask "who did it" when something happens they respond "Dracu".

  • @asherasator

When we kids did something bad, our mother would ask us "Who did it? Mama-mare? (Grandma?)" instead of "Dracul".

  • @Teresathetraveler

Pretty far away from the truth, but who expects truth on youtube these days...

  • Well, as a romanian I prefer to ask me about Dracula instead of our fucking gypsies who made a bad name for Romania , in all Europe. So, enjoy Dracula and forget the gypsies.

  • hey girls, glad to see you went all the way up, hahaha

  • @Teresathetraveler - nice. maybe you could use some of that influence to teach her how to spell

  • great video thanks for uploading

  • Dracule means the dragon, that was his father name and it was an honor given to him by the order he was a member and a leader of; ''Order of the Dragon'', which was a Christian order dedicated to crusade against Muslims turks and other none Christians, Vlad was so proud of his father he decided to call himself Dracula which means ''Son of him who had the order of the Dragon.''.

  • @miichelle31

    what's your problem about it?

  • 4:53 that's what she said!

  • Hi! I am from Romania, and I just want to thank you for the video and congratulate you for showing other people the Real castle of Vlad.Hope you enjoyed that trip. All the best from Transilvania!!!!

  • vlad from gta 4?

  • Wow, I think is joke. Great quality.

  • wow dracula castle ... maybe i should go there , know the truth history about dracula, i love to read history and travel around world after i become millionair.. Scary castle .... huhuhuhuhuhu ... my home town malaysia , very far far away and weather to hot ( 31Celcius) ... huhuhuhuhu hate when weather to hot make me dizzy..i hope someone at youtube (romania) can be my friend...my english so poor , sorry guy...

  • scary story .

  • That was cool!

  • For Teresa, Poenari was an ancient fortress even before the roman conquest in 105-106 AD Vlad only expanded the existent facilities especially because he liked what you hated the most:the steep climing lol

  • @DoubleDizzle1 Actually it was Sigismund of Luxembourg who entered Vlads dad into the Order of the Dragon and gave him a medalion featuring a dragon;since romanians didnt knew what a dragon was they nicknamed him Dracul.Vlad was call Draculea in old Romanian meaning son of Dracul(lea is a diminutive like jr).Dracula was adored by the large masses particulary for bringing stability to the country and refusing to give children for the turkish army.

  • Wow this is so cool! So this in where? Rome?? :D ^_^ Cool videos looks like your having fun <3

  • very cool video, I wish i could go there

  • @phantomempire about 40 minutes, there were a lot of steps

  • thanks for the tour!! some nice Camera work there !! How long did it take to climb all the steps??

  • Dracul means Dragon not devil

it was a sign that had to do with the time that Vlad Dracula's father was born and Dracula means the son of something i can't really put my finger on right now

  • @DAvidgzzgggg Dracul does mean devil. But in old Romanian it was a synonym for dragon. I'm Romanian so I know this too good.

  • Comment removed

  • @darnunt yes i agree to u,

  • @darnunt what is romania like?

  • @DAvidgzzgggg What do you mean? Son of Devil?

  • @DAvidgzzgggg Actually according to my wife who is from Transylvania, balaur means dragon. Diavol means Devil, or you can use the Dracul family name to substitute Devil according to her. She also said that Vlad's father was known as "Vlad the Dragon". That's where alot of confusion comes in to people trying to understand not from the region. Every area has it's idioms.

  • What you don't know is that at some point Vlad Dracu had an entire fild converted into a forrest of the impaled....

  • You are so lucky, I've always wanted to go see Poenari Castle/Castle Dracula, that and London and Germany's famous sights, so what was it like there? Is Romania newer or is it more old fashioned?

  • Romania is a blend of old and new. The people are awesome and there is so much to see!

  • @Teresathetraveler hey i am roumain and don`t is beutiful :(

  • @Teresathetraveler hey i am roumain and don`t is beutiful :( do not exist DRACULA is a story

  • llucky bastard

  • it's actually the citadel of Poenari, not Pointeri

  • Whats good to eat there? Were you all the way inside or just outside perimeter of the castle? It looks like the roof is intact from the outside is why im asking

  • They are just ruins - it's not like Bran's Castle. Just the remains of some walls and a great view

  • not very correct video at all,but nice.

  • You are right, I had no time to research and got many facts mixed up! lol!

  • Good place for a Saiance and WIGI Board on October 31st say around 12:30PM try that and make some pentagrams with goats blood!

  • I read that Dracula had people work on his castle but if any of them refused or displeased him then he would impale them.

  • Nice video and u guys are funny...i like all that jokes u make!By the way Vlad was killed by his brother Radu because he wanted to take his throne...Vlad had many enemies back then!

  • Radu was dead before Vlad died :-"

  • No ... Vlad Killed Radu before Radu could kill him :)) ... Vlad was killed near Bucharest by a boyar called Albu I believe.

  • You are really mixing up facts... His father's name was Dracul because he was in the Order of the Dragon. Vlad is just called Vlad and not Vladimir. Ottomans took his head of so that they show it to the Sultan, Vlad's greatest enemy. Therefore the head was brought to modern day Istanbul. Vlad's body was not in the tomb you are talking about because the real tomb wasnt really found. It is not in Snagov as most people believe, but probably in the Comana monastery. Good job getting up the steps!

  • I think you're even more mixed up. Dracula has the patronymic suffix "a" which means "the son of Dracul".

His father was Dracul, he was Dracula. She didn't get it wrong.

  • I did not know you studied romanian medieval language in the USA. I am honoured!

  • its kinda funny that shes wearing a cape and dracula isnt a vampire ????????

  • this is in my country girl

  • and a beautiful country it is - I love Romania!

  • I wanna go to Romania cause I'd like to learn some of the language :)

njart pletsar sete vot shun plee, nostferatu :)

  • that's not Romanian....

  • Great video! Claudiu showed it to me today, while driving to Otopeni :) I never made it up the steps...

  • Are you sure "Carolyn" in the video isn't really Sarah Palin? : )

  • I am not sure, even though we have been friends for over 20 years...you just never know what secrets people keep.

  • I saw Palin too lol.... and I am guessing the cameralady is canadian

  • Me and some friends had the same driver while in Romania. His name was Claudiu, right? :))

  • yes it was, he was an awesome tourguide

  • was it locked up where u culdnt go in? or did the just tell u u culdnt or did u and just didnt record it?

  • There are just ruins left, there is no inside just some walls

  • awesome thanx!

  • Looks like much fun.

  • love the ending song habib is the love

  • Lol Ya kno if somone is haten that bad then you gotta be FUCKEN FAMOUS!

    America 4eva

  • i like the idea of pulling the castle up on the mountain

  • Thanks, I come up with brilliant ideas like that once in awhile.

  • you forgot to show the castle

  • Thank you for posting this... nice to see a video in Romania narrated in a language I can understand. :)

  • A little bitter are we? Seeing a few dickhead tourists here and there doesn't give you the authority to say that Americans think they're better than anyone. Teresathetraveler gives no indication that she thinks she's better than you, and no American I know thinks themselves better than any European, myself included. I have the utmost respect for Romania, and if I had the money, I would visit too.

  • thanks

  • nice

  • I personally know the last son of (or great, great great grandson) or how many generations now I can't be sure. His name is Andrew his is extremely spooky! I cannot go into detail but I met him shortly after a near death experience and my life had completely changed. When I told him I had been to transylvania and visited the house he smiled and said0I know DARLING! crazy , crazy! This is absolutely real! His mother and grandmother are the most scary people I've met! What's with this family??

  • North America is not a country Einstein! Read a map.

  • Awesome video.

I made a couple of vids on the castle that Bram Stoker based his novel of Dracula on!

  • lmao you are funny and this video was great

  • great video. I climbed those steps too and am glad to see someone put that trek up on youtube. Cheers and happy and safe travels!
