  • rosianna, do you still have or use your goodreads account? I recently made one, and it's so addictive! I didn't find your account when I typed in the username though...

I know I'm about 3 years late, but I was 12 or 13 when this was posted so I kind of missed all the awesome youtube days. :(

  • i have to admit i actually did enjoy twilight; but what i liked was the story: some of the books were badly written however, now that i look back on the whole of the series

  • I wanted to know does good reads freeze on you a lot and other tabs go unresponsive.

  • I didn't like Twilight either! I thought I was the only one who didn't!

  • Oh, I loved A Northern Light! Ah! Ah!

Also, I have this suspicion that the smartest among us hate Bella the first time.

  • i love your accent!!

  • Oh! Can you get me a skirt like that? I'd pay of course <3

  • I havnt read any of those books you mentioned although the comments on Twilight that ive heard have either been really bad or really good, but i was wandering wether you read books from satre or camus although i have not read any of their books myself i am a huge fan of philosophical literature i recently read metamorphosis in german and it was amazing it was the first bit of good german literature i read. I am reading the siddharta now by hesse so it shud be fun keep up the good vids!

  • I never have time reading contemporary books. The classics have so much more to offer.

  • Have you read the midnighters 1,2,3 by scott westerfeld ?. try reading the whole twilight series, you might change opinion,i did not like the first book to much until i read them all and it all fits in together really good.

  • I didn't like "A Northern Light." It was too confusing, the chapters chainged points of view too much D:

  • i joined goodreads hehe its a great site thanks for mentioning it

  • John Marsden is an amazing YA author. If you liked So Much To Tell You you should check out his Tomorrow series.

  • A disconcerting number of the ones you mentioned are ones I want to read.

  • I'm so glad to know I'm NOT the only one that did not like Twilight.

  • I just love your videos. I could listen to you talk about books for hours!

You are so beautiful and articulate...

I am reading a whole bunch of books myself.

I'm currently reading 'The Scarlet Letter.'

  • I loved A Gathering Light, the plot was amazing, I really loved it. You're not alone - I didn't like Twilight either. I didn't warm to Bella at all, I totally agree she is a weak character, she even annoyed me at some points. I didn't like Meyer writing style either and I found the plot rather empty and bland.

  • So jealous of that skirt, by the way.

  • I can't believe you don't like Twilight! Damn, that book (and the rest of the series) is awesome (Edward Cullen <3). But everyone has different tastes, I guess. Have you read Atonement yet? If so, is it good? I've seen the film, which is awesome, and I was thinking about reading the book. How is it compared to the film?

  • thank u so much for not liking twilight! i dont like it either and when i say that ppl think im crazy!

lovers of lit shun twilight! their are so many books amazing books out there

  • Thats a lot of books did you get through them all? Kudos if you did

  • good for you! I love the fact that young people love reading. We live in a world where there is so much to do, and choose from, so its great that your reading instead of doing other things.

  • Steinbeck is awesome. My favourite I think is East of Eden. But pretty much everything he wrote was amazing. He has this ability to capture the environment, and the people in it to so well. Few authors captured the flavour of that era as well.

In fact East of Eden is one of those on my "books everyone should read" list.

  • Books! wow, thanks for the recommendations (good and bad)! When I was younger I'd read about six novels a day and I wish I still had time for that. :)

I loved the Giver. I think it was the first dystopian novel I read.

    DFTBA! :)

  • A lot of those books in this video look really interesting. . .Lol.

Arrghh, living in a small town with a small library makes finding a good read really hard.

  • ahh love this website! thank you thank you :]

  • you don't like twilight? daym. thats really interesting. i havent comme accross anyone who doesn't so far, till now!

  • I'm surprised you didn't like Twilight. I thought you'd like it and when you said you didn't my jaw dropped. Lol, oh well opinions differ. Btw if my friends saw all the books you read they would die, I read about 3 books per month and they think thats bad. It's strange how quite alot of people don't like reading yet there are alot of people who adore it aswell. Hmmm.

    Ash xx

  • me too. :)

  • I've become a big fan of your vids just over the past couple months. wanted to say thanks for keeping them always fun and interesting.

  • i love your skirt!! :)

  • I adored it, it really was great, now to get my hands on Gathering Blue!

  • when did Mr L give you all those books, he's never given me anything!

  • I GOT SO MUCH DONE AFTER SCHOOL :D

Stuff on the page just needs to be moved around a little bit and then I'm done! Achievement!

I'm sure he'll be giving you his music recommendations any day soon if today was any way of telling..

  • haha...your 3 months younger than me..but about 10 years more mature

    ...oh dear...

  • hey, I added you on good reads

  • you read very interesting books.

and it is quite evident that you dig reading. :D

ps: atonement is an excellent book.

  • You know, even though you are 8 years my younger, I admire you quite a bit. This ties in with some of the other things from your new years video which i just commented ona second ago, but you seem like a very sharp girl with a bright mind and the confidence that will allow you to use those qualities to go far.

  • i don't think that was patronising enough.....

  • hope your doing okay Rosianna. Looking forward to your next video! :D

  • I tagged you in my latest video :]

    hope youre ok!

    Ttysoon xoxo

  • I love your skirt! I wish I could buy one! And, btw, I love the book Twilight!

  • twilight is a very enjoyable read

  • Wow, I can't believe you didn't like Twilight. I've recomended that book to everyone I know, and everyone who has read it has completely fallen in love with it. Even my friend who doesn't read at all is obsessed with it now.

I get where you're coming from about Bella being annoying at times, but how could you not find anything admirable about Edward?

He's the most brilliant male character I've ever read about, and I read loads.

  • Don't ya just love the smell of new books? :)

By the way, i loove your shirt, around how much was it to buy and get it shipped?

  • can't say I completely disagree with you about Twilight. It falls into the not very good but I still inconceivably liked it. Bella and Jacob both bug the crap out of me, but I really loved Alice.

I'm going to look for "A Note of Madness", thanks

  • Yes, out of all of them, Alice was my favourite. Or rather, she was pretty much the only one I liked.

  • I actually dont really like vlogs, but I must say it's a treat hearing what you have to say, you seem to be a very intelligent woman^^

  • Trust me, you're not the only one. Twilight was supremely disappointing.

    But Slam is good!

and your skirt is totally jokes.

  • That skirt is made of awesome.

  • Sounds like a great set of books. On Twilight, I have to say, I (almost) completely agree with you. I cannot stand Bella (and the plot) for the same reasons you said. However, I did like Edward. I suppose when I read it he just grabbed me for some reason. His character fascinated me, and I think mostly due to the conflict between the monster and his conviction he doesn't have a soul. He's probably the only reason I try and read the books now.

Oooh, King Dork! I've wanted to read that.

  • wait, at 5:00, you say something like"obviously being______" what do you say there? sorry, but i REALLY want to know! hehe. thanks! and this was pretty cool.

  • "obviously being in England"!

  • Ok, I loved this.

As an American bookseller/collecter, it's always interesting to me to see the UK versions of books.

Are you on the nerdfighter ning network yet?

  • Very cool. It's nice to see a vid that gets you to think a bit.

I too am a book fan and I think you'd enjoy some of my videos as well. When you get some time take a look and let me know what you think.

  • Thanks for mentioning goodreads. I've joined and it seems pretty neat. Now I'll have to get some of my friends to sign up as well. It should help me keep track of the books I'm planning to read for the 50 book challenge over at LiveJournal. Do you keep track of how many books you read in a year?

  • No I don't, but I've started to keep track of them now, started up a bit of a habit.

  • I never knew Mr. Lapish was much of a reader, I knew he was a bit of a film boff as he spent most of our last chemistry lesson of term talking about them but obviously he's an avid reader aswell and know that you are.

  • Yes he's definitely a film addict, haha, he's seen so many of them! I don't think I would describe him as an "avid reader", and he said he doesn't really keep books at home, but he has remarkably fantastic taste - Pompeii was brilliant!

  • I feel exactly the same way about Twilight. The whole storyline is so unrealistic, what with the constant repetition of "oh, I know it's dangerous but I love him so much"... Edward's character was incredibly boring, there was no depth to him (maybe because he was practically faultless?).

Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts, again I really enjoyed this vid. ^^

  • the website looks pretty cool, i may have to sign up, wish i read more, i should really find the time!

  • 'my so called life' is absolutley hysterical. Laughed myself stupid in some places. On public transport. Eh...

  • You must read Atonement! It is so amazing.

  • Also, I happen to love Twilight but as others here have pointed out, Bella is a disaster - you can either deal with it or you hate her. But also, I think a lot of whether you enjoy the books depends on whether you like Edward or not - and if you don't find Edward a redeeming character or, at the least, intriguing, the whole thing will just be a bust. Thanks for sharing your book insights!

  • King Dork is quite an awesome book. I was excited to see it in your to read list. :)

  • I love the HP Alliance shirt!

  • Thanks for the recommendations.

    I adore your skirt!

  • Nice shirt. I swear you have half of my wardrobe, lol.

  • That's the way we work it!

  • I LOVE your skirt so much.

  • Thanks for the recommendations. I actually like the "Twilight" series and finished "Eclipse" just the other day, but I know where you're coming from in that it's not really realistic and doesn't have depth to it. I read the giver by Lois Lowry in about the seventh grade. If that's the book you're referring to then you should read "Gathering Blue," which is also by Lois Lowry.

  • And then "Messenger" - which ties "The Giver" and "Gathering Blue" together and brings them to something of a conclusion.

  • Oh yea. I haven't read the "The Messenger," but heard about it and how you said it ties them together and everything.

  • haha i just set up an acount on there. & i added you. :]

& i agree with chelseyjane about twilight.

  • i'm not interested in stephenie meyers books. .i refuse to read twilight. . . mostly because everyone is on about it. though. . i was the same way with HP at first. ha. but i trust your opinion.

    love the new nail color.

  • Fluorescent pinks are my calling :)

  • You are certainly not the only one who didn't like Twilight. I couldn't even finish it I disliked it so much! I was so excited to read it because everyone loved it so much, but it was a major let down! Glad I'm not the only one, haha.

  • I've read a few of the books that you've suggested in previous blogs and I've loved them, but I do have to say I disagree with your views on Twilight.

  • I think you should give us a sample of your own writings skills...

I loved this, it reignited my love of reading by your enthusiasm.

    Keep making vids!

  • First of all, I'm majorly jealous of your skirt. Second, I definitely agree on the Bella note. I really disliked her at the beginning of the book, but for some reason I kept reading through the series despite my dislike. She seems very damsel in distress, don't you think? It gets annoying. But I think I just kept reading because I was so intrigued my the Cullen family. I was going to give you another book suggestion, but it seems that you have quite a load right now. I'll wait.

  • Hahaha I love my skirt :D

Yes, incredibly damsel in distress-esque. Oh go ahead and suggest one, I'll put it on my list :)

  • It's a thick one! But, as a Harry Potter fan and avid reader, I doubt you'll be daunted. The book is Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. Also, I wanted to thank you for all of your reviews, because I'm going to the bookstore on Friday on a book shopping spree (my favorite type of spree), and now I have a better idea of the books I want to get. So, thank you!

  • Fantastic, I've stuck it on my list!

I hope by now you're in possession of a nice stack of books?

  • Yes, I am. I've got quite a load. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

  • i havent read Twilight yet, but after hearing SO much praise about it, it was kind of glad to see you say you dont like it. when a book gets too much praise, it annoys me. does that sound stupid? oh well...

    have you read Alice Sebold?

  • The Lovely Bones? I wasn't the world's biggest fan of The Lovely Bones to say the least..!

  • You are not alone. I do like twilight a lot but I hate Bella so much. I also think the twilight books are to corny and It makes me gag sometimes.

  • As a big fan of the Twilight books, I have to say I disagree with you.

But, I can understand your point. Bella is boarder line annoying to me as well.

I ask you try to read through the second so you can read the third, Eclipse is amazing. I don't like vampire books that much myself, but this book really changed my mind.

    Happy reading.

  • How many books would you say you read a week?

I brought home about 20 books for the four weeks of Christmas vacation, but I've only actually read 3.5 books so far. There's only one week left and my mom won't let me read all the time, so needless to say, I don't think I'll make it.

  • Per week I usually read at least two books, and usually get half way into another, but at the moment I'm reading at least a book a day for the past week.

  • I've been reading a harry potter book for every week... well #1, 2, 3 in two days..

    but wow..

  • Seeing all those books makes me happy.

  • i haven't read any of those books yet but some are going on my to-read list!

    book NF FTW!

  • I like the same books as you. I love to read but I always either don't have time or I'm really tired. :(

  • I must say I do love twilight but I find the books a bit predictable....like I could guess what was coming. Thats why Harry potter is better...you never know what to expect.

  • Yay for lots of books!

I added you as a friend on goodreads (I hope that's okay) because a lot of books that you have talked about before are ones that I like a lot (although Twilight happens to be one of my favourite books)

  • That's fine, I look forward to sharing book recommendations with you :)

  • Atonement is fantastic-- one of the best books I read last year.

I love Twilight. I find Bella's decisions to be a little annoying (soap opera-ish), but overall I love the story. I also find the author talented in making a rather soap opera-ish story believable and compelling.

  • I love the Giver!!!!

  • have you read moby dick?

  • ATONEMENT is beautiful. You need to see the movie as well, and the giver is wonderful as well. We had to read the giver for school ages ago.

  • I'll be sure to watch the film immediately after I read the book! I just like to read books before I watch the films, but I'm very excited about reading it.

  • Prediction: You're going to write some good books. Maybe I only think that because we like the same books, but I don't think it's just that. -John

  • You have no idea how happy you just made me :)

  • For some weird and twisted reason, I haven't been driven to read lately. But after watching this, I'm miraculously motivated! Hooray for books! Thanks, Rosi. :D

  • Yay books! :D

  • This is awesome for so many reasons!

    1. Shout out! Hoorah! I friended you on Goodreads, so I am very excited to check out all your recomendations once I'm approved. :) I think I'm auntiem02 on there...

    2. A whole post about books! Fantastic! I'm adding to my GoodReads based on this post right now!

    Hoorah!

  • I'm indebted to you, GoodReads is such an addiction now :D

  • The giver was an amazing book, and i read A Northern Light/A Gathering light a few months back and i also thought it was fantastic!

  • i'll have to check some of those out. yay for books! you should continue these book review videos when you finish more books :)

  • I shall definitely do that. Talking about books gives me kicks, and I love reading everyone else's comments about books I've read.

  • I have like 4 books I want to read. I wont have much time because of school coming tomororw. :( Anyways, Im probably going to my local libary or book shop soon. :)

Twilight is in my pile of books to read so I had to skip your Twilight bit otherwise I might have been spoiled. :P

    Love Ashley

    ilovemugglenet <3

p.p.s: I LOVE YOUR SKIRT! I NEEEED IT! I LOVE IT! :) Wheres it from? I couldn't quite here you speaking in that bit because my dad was going up into the Atic.

  • It's from Camden market! It was the last one, apparently, but they'll probably make more.

  • I can understand why you didn't like Twilight, because Bella is the type of character who you either love or hate. I happen to love Twilight, but I can understand why someone wouldn't like it.

THE GIVER IS THE BEST BOOK EVER Not joking. Fantastic book.

  • that skirt is awsome

you read so many books and they are all really good ones

speaking of the giver btw there is a sequal unfortunatly i cant think of the name right now but u should read it

  • I didn't like Twilight either. It's good to know I'm not the only one!

  • I didn't like Twilight either...it felt so forced the whole way through & when I told my friends that I hated it they were all "You suck." Oh well :]

  • ARG, you don't like Twilight, i lovee Twilight, i could go all fangirly on you and be mean. but i'm not because that would be annoying and i hate when people do that, and i can't change your view on it by being mean. so all i have to say it that i wish you liked it.

  • Aah, I'm sorry that I didn't like it, very sorry, especially when I know how many people love it :(

  • I really like Pompeii I hope you'll like it too!Robbert Harris is really good, by the way I added you on Goodreads and if you accept, you'll be my only friend on it :)

  • It was fantastic! I really really loved it.

  • haha you read a ton!! i wish i could read as much as you but im too busy w/ school =(

  • I squeeze in chapters and luckily I have a bus journey there and back from school to read on, I read any chance I get at school, so that it's come to the point where friends snatch books out of my hand to get my attention ;)

  • I'm definatly going to check out most of these books.

Twilight was okay, it wasn't my favorite book but I liked it. Bella can get real annoying, especially in New Moon.

  • Oh and Atonements amazing! tell me if you like it or not!

  • Heya! I've created an account on good readas and added you as a friend please accept! lol Christie xxx

  • Accepted, and yes I'll let you know in the next bookvlog update :D

  • Ahh cool!

    More Books to read!

I am definitely gonna check out that website!!!

I'm sorry you didn't like Twilight, I don't really think that it is a book that EVERYONE will love. . . . . It does have some superficial qualities to it.

Ahh well, I guess we can't like everything!

  • I added you on good reads!

  • Added you back :)

And yes, it's such a shame when I don't like books my friends like - books are so close to my heart that I feel as though I'm letting my friends down.

  • You didn't like Twilight? Yeah I guess it's not for everyone. Bella can be kind of annoying, I can see it. Especially in New Moon.

  • I read Twilight and New Moon before I actually learned to read books critically. So when I was only looking at the books superficially I liked them. This year I read Eclipse, and I was very disappointed. The plot wasn't that good, and Bella annoyed me so much! She was just acting like a wimpy girl who needed the big strong boys to save her, and her main problem was she couldn't decide which guy she liked more!

  • She was too dependent for me. Also it was very easy to predict what was going to happen, so I already knew all the major discoveries in the book, and that wasn't much fun.

If I read Twilight now I probably wouldn't like it as much.

  • i love your room.

    hahaha.

i havent heard of most of those books.

but now i thnk i should read some of them.

    haha. =]

but i did read the giver and i loved it.

  • lol loads of books. haha cool skirt :P

  • I love hearing you talk about books. I'm definitely going to check some of these out.

    Awesome skirt!

  • i wish everyone made videos like this one.

    LITERATURE NERDFIGHTERS FTW!

  • Me too!

  • I actually watched Atonement the movie again last night. The film is so amazing, I hope you find the book as good. I'm actually considering making it my favourite film of all time.

  • You read a lot!! Have you ever read "in cold blood" by Truman Capote? Probably tou have, you read so many books, but if you haven't I have to recommend it. It's kind of disturbing, but you can't stop reading it!

Good luck with all that reading =D

  • Nope I haven't! I've put it down on my list, thanks for the recommendation.

  • No problem. Mention it when you get it, and when you finish it, tell me what you think. I think you'll like it, it's very intense, and it's a true story.

  • Interesting Books

I haven't read any of them but maybe someday...

    In My Pants!

  • i love john steinbeck work speacialy his novella 'of mice and men' also i recommened readin P.S i love you the book is much better then he film it has to be said i would send you my copy but im in love with it lol

  • We studied Of Mice and Men at school about four years ago and I absolutely loved it, but The Winter of Our Discontent was so different that I loved it too. I love it all!

  • btw, The Giver is one of my favourite books :)

  • I wish I could read books for fun :( Glad to see you making more regular videos again Rosi :)

  • You make me want to read more. I should do more of that in 2008
