Be proud! Bach himself was a great innovator, and would have loved your instrument and the "registration", to use an organ term, you chose. Your guitar rings with a gorgeous mature tone; regards to yourself and also to the luthier (or company) who made the instrument.
playing is great, though i would agree that perhaps chorus wasn't such a good idea. bach needs no effects, or even a spectacular instrument. bach speaks for himself.
@guitarninja86 Don't wanna come across like i'm advertising but, i have a heavy reverb on my Bach video, on an electric also, but I kinda think it sounds decent enough to listen to at least.
Also, you might expiriment with making the bass notes more thunderous and powerful, and contrasting this with the treble notes being more legato and subtle. Had a great classical guitar teacher suggest this to me when I was learning it.
Well you played the piece just fine, but if you ask me, bach does not need any chorus or other special effects. I do think it is a good thing to experiment though and if nothing else, it will show you the difference between what bach intended and what he did not and you will only appreciate him all the more.
it didnt suck at all, how about u post a vid of yourself playing the song with the "proper" fingering. no? didnt think so because u probably cant even play it so u spend ur time going round talking shit on peoples vids who are better players than you. get a fucking life seriously
"proper" fingerings? he played the song and it sounded good. Did Bach ever come back to life and say "Hey, I transposed my Prelude In C Minor for Lute to D Minor so you can play it on guitar, and THESE are the fingerings you have to use!"?
i don't think it's too fast. Actually, segovia played this piece a little bit faster. It is ultimately the player's choice though, as there is no specified tempo marking.
hmm, the sound isn't that bad, but, this is a classical piece and I think it would be better without the chorus , well, thats my opinion :) nice piece btw, nice job :)
that's an interesting view on interpretation. Open your ears and you'll see that it's how he plays that notes, not the effects, that is the interpretation.
Something about the natural resonance of acoustic guitar strings ringing together that sound more luscious and deep than the depth of a chorus pedal. Like even a steel sting guitar falls short of the getting the right tone for classical. But perhaps if you made an original song around your chorus pedal you'd find the right sound to make it work accordingly. Like how the Police and U2 do it. :)
The chorus effect doesn't disturb me at all. Agree with someone about how the middle bass note is often dampened and left too short, stopping the bass line from sounding legato, but have no thought how difficult it is to play what you are playing.
Concerning what HyeSungBen1 has said about the rest in the bass notes on the second beat (of every bar), I think it really is worthwhile looking into the idea of stopping the notes at the rest, just for the musical reason. Have a try if you haven't.
you know... There is a rest in the bass on every second beat of the entire piece. Another person played this for their exam and held out the bass? If I were the professor...
@ellerby92 in contrary ... he has to stop the bas note ... check the sheet and you'll see that the bass note is a quaerter note and then is a quarter pause (where you stop the bass) .... and it's right to play rythmic when you play something written by bach ... maybe you think that way because the tempo is a bit fast
you can use the open D for the first section, it will be easier and probably sound better... and I would drop the cheesy chorus, but alround good job!
Nice! I have to play this for lessons on piano, and I actually think it sounds better on guitar! But I think the title's mistaken. It's actually in C minor, unless you changed it. Anyway, sounds great!
no its in d minor on the guitar, most of the things bach wrote for lute have to be transcribed to be played on the guitar. the original was in c minor.
@adagio27sostenuto no it is in D minor hence the C# in the third chord of the progression. But yu can play it in any key. Im not sure which it was written in but my sheet music reads it as 1 flat. So D Minor
@adagio27sostenuto Bach wrote this piece for the lute originally in C minor, but the guitar arrangement is always in D minor because the way a guitar is tuned.
@adagio27sostenuto pretty much all guitar transcription of this song are in Dm but it does say on the bottom original key Cm its because of the way the guitar is set up
Your right hand technique is kind of sloppy, but sounds good.

Sucked.
I've taken plenty of time learning this piece, and this is filled with nothing but shortcuts, which I find disturbing.
Research the proper fingering for this, and then post it.
Suck.

classical guitars are built much more lightly than thier steel string kin.tops arent as braced sooo the top vibrates more frreely.

not a good idea

Oops, and the need to cut the bass notes is verily intensified by the amplified guitar, otherwise the notes would dampen better by themselves.
I admire this playing nevertheless!
