I was at this show!! I was down in front of Doug, and never left my spot to pee or get a beer. Drive 5 hours from Cape Hatteras to see BTS.. Thanks soooooo much for posting
This is actually a studio song in playback, it's not actually live--only the video is. Every sound you think you hear--the "crowd noise," the "drums," the "bass" is actually Doug Martsch's guitar. Even when it sounds like Doug says "thanks" at 6:03, it's really a guitar.
@Soulfab hmmm.....do you mean this song makes you feel something akin to hate, so much?....cuz i could sort of get down with that--there is real darkness in there. obviously you're not denying that this song has been repeatedly proven, by SCIENCE, to be at the molecular level musically perfect.
that would be right out of Quixote--charming, but utterly separated from our reality.....at the motherfucking cradle no less! much respect to carrboro.

This shit sucks! In fact now i'm gonna go to the horse races tonight because they're playing..... Seriously is you like this music something is terrible wrong with you
@jahart111 i could see why u think this sucks the sound is just sucky sucky suckky however u should get the cd.. i still dont get why people post on youtube with crappy sound qulity.. uggg my poor ears
@noonelikesalexD you cant say that. if you mix those two bands you would get nickelback or muddle of pudd, gay ass bands. i love modest mouse. built to spill is a genre all there own.
Definitly one of the best bands to see live, I'm in total agreement with looshkin Built To Spill never fails to make me smile, The guy is amazing, he just closes his eyes and lets his finger slide up and down the fret board ahah, it's amazing to see live, I love music for music's sake, this band is the END
Highly melodic tune which can easily be listened to 1000s of times, hence making it a song to bring with you should you be cast to an island in the pacific by yourself....
The guitar solo's at the end of this song make me smile sooooo big EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!!!!! It's crazy....i've been listening to this song for years, since it came out in 99 and it still raises the hair on my arms.
"Count your blemises...you cant! they're all gone!"
Doug Martsch is such a great musician/musical composer/poet. He's been around forever. Everybody should check out one of his first bands called TREEPEOPLE...their record was released in 1989. Good stuff!!
yeah their live album is great! the recordings on keep it like a secret is good, and perfect from now on.... i see what you mean but great band, love em to bits.
it means something different to whoever listens to it. id say to me it means you can perceive your whole life one way when it was wrong all along cause you forgot to "carry the zero" thats just my interpretation tho.
@IHateLongIsland Ok so heres my take. I think this song is a story told straightforward about someone who left out into the world, college maybe, and taken with them something precious and delicate which is never named, but is actually a metaphor for the persons perceived self-image, their ego, which has taken a bit of a beating out there in the real world, and now the person has returned home, and doug is trying to remind her (probably her) of who they really are.
I just read a ton of comments. One of the best things about these guys is that the evoke so much love from so many people. How lucky are we to have found these guys? Btw I got to take my son to the show. Two generations of bts fans. So so awesome.
You said it right man..and thats so cool that you took your son to see Built to Spill. Man he doesnt know how lucky he is.. thats awesome bro. Doug Martsch RULES!!!
You guys have to catch their current tour. They were awesome. I saw them at the Fillmore and got to talk to Doug 'cause they broke down their own equipment. He seemed like such a sweet and genuine person. I'm glad he's as awesome as his music.
Oh wow, I was at this show! Senior year of high school... bought The Flaming Lips' "Zaireeka" at CD Alley before the show, Camper Van Beethoven opened and played forever, my friend got a setlist from Jim Roth... it was an awesome night.
these guys are insanely good... but it took me til last year to find them.... checked youtube and everywhere else, no freaking music videos! jeezus....
BTS does not make videos cause they hate them and their label does not force them to do anything like that so they have total freedom on a big label....THEY ARE A SMART BUNCH OF DUDES...
I saw BTS for the first time 3 weeks ago. The show gave me a new apprciation for their music. I went to see The Meat Puppets but ended up loving the show much more than I originally thought I would.
I got to go backstage and drink with these guys when they came to Arizona..such cool dudes. You can tell that they have been around forever and aren't phased by anything..probably because there were only like 30 people there lol but they are awesome.
this song is amazing. it feels so good. words can't describe it. exactly why bts RULES!!does any one know of any shows comming up like in the north east or anywere close to mass
Yeah, try Built to Spill performing Perfect From Now On in its entirety...oh, and with Dinosaur Jr and Meat Puppets opening the bill. To top that off, it's only $33. In NYC. Good luck getting tickets.
This song makes me want to cry. Insanely layered and beautiful. Every time I hear it it is more phenominal than the last. Lust for Built to Spill......
Such good musicians. very experimental and one of the best bands live hands down! :)
