that feeling of empathy (for me) is a sudden awareness that a vital connection has been restored. just like in Buddhism, that state of compassion has been restored. It is a physiological feeling, it is a gained feeling of comfort. Lama Surya Das said man's most common denominator is awareness. By the way Mr. Lasater, I'm 15 pages into Words that Work in Business, love it so far, I ordered 5 other copies for family and friends. I read M. Rosenberg's book NVC 3 times so far.
