  • A remarkably well done game finish in a remarkable game. Thanks for posting all these Disc World videos! :)

  • I jus wanted to say: Thank you very much!

Years ago while I was playing this game my computer crash only a little bit after the beggining of the third act. I hadn´t been able to play it again, but to me your walktrough felt more like a little moving picture, than a walktrough and I love it for that.

  • Thank you thank you thank you. My favourite part is knowing that the performer on stage most likely probably got eaten and died. Loved the trivia and annotations immensely. Have a rockin' day!

  • Dude made me laugh at the end of the credits when it's giving special thanks it says in one bit Eric cartman kickass xD anybody else see it?

  • Thanks ver much for haring this game with us!

  • HAH! Not with a bang but with a tingly sound I hear on girly 80's cartoon shows.

  • Are you still planning to post Grim Fandago?

  • Great playthrough. Found this almost by accident due to someone mentioning Discworld Noir in a discussion about the new Rockstar game L.A Noire... Being a Pratchett fan I youtubed it and... Managed to watch the whole playthrough in a few days although I originally intended to only check what it was like!

  • That was so many kinds of awesome. I've a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of the game from back in the day, but there were a few little bits in this play through that I completely missed during my half dozen completions. Brought back a whole host of happy memories from one of my favorite video games of all time. Thanks very much for uploading.

  • One of the most enjoyable walkthroughs I've ever watched, 5 stars would be awarded if they still existed, you can have a like though :) Great use of annotations too.

  • It's been a crazy ride but we got there in the end. Thanks so much for uploading, I really appreciate it. Discworld Noir was a game I always wanted to play, but never quite had the right machine for it. At least now I've had the chance to enjoy the game in some way.

  • @vanya86 It was my pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!

  • @TheRussianGestapo Fantastic work indeed! Not just the effort of playing through and uploading the whole thing, but also doing it extremely well! This saved me when I couldn't get the game to run on my mac (played it back in the day on PC ...). Thanks!

  • A quick note: Attempting to apply the sign to the flyer before Ilsa shows up results in Lewton dismissing the idea as superstition. Yet he takes Ilsa's word for it that he needs the protection.

Also, was it explained anywhere exactly what happened to Anu-Anu? Did he perish from his wounds, or did he revert to his smaller form?

  • @Kopijeger I personally think Anu-Anu perished, being a minor deity. But it's open to interpretation I suppose.

I think I cut out trying to apply the sign to the contraption before Ilsa shows up due to time restrictions, but it's a very good point.

  • love the casblanca line

  • It's about time they released a new one. I'm still waiting Pterry.

  • @vglp33 Agreed!

  • @vglp33

Well at the very least Terry could do a Lewton pov book, that'd be amazing!

  • Excellent walkthrough, hopefully you could do Grim Fandango someday.

  • @OutForAMeal I've sort of started recording it, but life keeps getting in the way!

    Thanks kindly.

  • Thank you for uploading this playthrough!

I absolutely loved it back when I played it. It had so many things I liked - the Discworld, private detectives and werewolves.

I never finished due a bug, but now thanks to your videos I know how it ends.

Which makes me wonder what will happen to Lewton next? Will the assassin's guild catch him, or could he be spared on account of saving everyone's lives and all that? :)

  • @Booksher Cheers!

That's a very good point! I guess that was the intention - Casablanca ends in the same manner but doesn't have as many unanswered questions (and Rick didn't have as many enemies as Lewton).

I think the Patrician would deem Lewton too useful to be killed, but that assumes that Lewton would stick around long enough to face sentence (if the assassins don't get him first). On the other hand, he loves Ankh-Morpork so I couldn't see him leaving, especially after saving the day!

  • ...Grim Fandango is not a game that likes to be recorded. Atleast, not with anything I tried.

Once again, Kudos! If you ever have any projects that a random Hungarian fellow like myself can help in, just whistle. Until then, here's + 100 Internetz. Or cookies, whatever be your prefrence!

  • @deloctyte Thanks kindly, I'm glad you enjoyed watching this!

I think the reason it was made non-canon was because most of the story and game structure was by Chris Bateman (one of the project lead designers), who would pass along his scripts to Terry to be edited and "Pratchett-ised" with little asides and jokes. It's a shame it's not canon, I agree.

The funny thing is I've just managed to balance the settings for GF so it doesn't lag, so it looks like I will be doing it at some point soon!

  • Wooo!

Took me around three-to-four days, but I'm finaly done watching this monster of an upload! It was worth it. Discwrold, Noir, and just a dash of Lovecraft. Gotta love it!

Do you know why it was announced non-cannonical? Some parts of the game seem to be too awesome to be left in the dust! D: I bow before your love to the game, as I also have an old favorite. Grim Fandango. If you were serious about putting that gem of a game onto Youtube, I'd better warn you.

  • Seriously, thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the whole thing. It seemed like an audio book with all the lines of text involved.

  • @viscountalpha And thank you for all your comments! They are appreciated, and sorry for not replying promptly.

  • One of my favorite games, every once in a while i play it again

  • @ronadish1 Glad to hear it!

  • Just wanted to thank you for uploading this! I'm from Canada, but when I went to England back in 2000, my mother was adamant that we try and find a copy of the game. Luckily we did, and while I finished the game a few times over I haven't been able to make it work on the newer computer systems. So now the case (alongside the first Disworld game) sits on my game shelf collecting dust. So it was a pleasure watching the game through again, even if I wasn't playing. Brought back a lot of memories

  • @unavalible No worries, my pleasure. I'm glad people like yourself can continue to enjoy this game through these videos.

Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching!

  • Hey, thanks so much for uploading these, they've been a joy.

you should check out the Bladerunner Game, it's a lot like this.

  • @dannycabes Funnily enough, I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of that game with no luck thus far. I should probably try eBay at some point.

    Cheers for the comments!

  • I bought it off a buyer on Amazon last year for about £80. It's a great game, but ain't cheap.

  • I've added the one for 3.17 and I'll add one for the dice when I get around to checking back through all the annotations (spelling, grammar, correctness, etc). Thanks for the insight and comment!

  • Did you skip the bit with Mooncalf? I'd been looking forward to seeing that.

  • Try the video for Act 4.04, I think that's the bit you're on about. ;)

  • Ah, thank you! I have no idea how I managed to miss that one.

  • No worries.

  • Great jop, Gestapo, and thanks. I really enjoy your annotations: the videos alone would have made a good series, but your own additions really brought it to life and added several new dimensions of entertainment. I look forward to seeing the extras, and will definitely watch anything you care to put up in the future.

  • Thank you very much! Cheers for all the comments!

  • Thank you so much for posting. I've had a great time watching through this game. Hail to the Chief and a Go Gestapo!

  • No worries, and thanks for all the comments!

  • welp this was the best playthrough ive ever seen for a discworld game

  • Why thank you! I'm truly flattered!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks so much for uploading these Gestapo, this game would have made a perfect film. Lewton is an amazing character, it's a shame he's not featured anywhere else in the Discworld universe but here.

The game had such an epic sprawling story, although it did feel like they rushed the production of the fourth act.

  • In a way, I think it's good that there's only one story with Lewton, because it means that he'll always be there, in this classic narrative. There will never be a disappointing sequel to ruin the character, so to say.

I can pretty much guarantee that there are interviews with the DWN design staff that say that development was rushed towards the end. It really is a shame that the development company went under before they could patch the game.

Also, thanks for watching and commenting!

  • Since it's the last clip and it makes me feel a bit melancholic I keep any jokes to myself.^^

Thank you very much for doing this Let's Play , we know it was time-consuming and hard to hear Rhodan and the zombie out. LOL I'm looking forward to bonus scenes.

Furthermore, I'd strongly encourage you to do an LP of Grim Fandango because I loveloveLOVE that game and have played it millions of times (I won't let anyone tell me I'm exaggerating^^).

    Again - thank you!

  • In that case, I shall keep Grim Fandango near the top of my list next time I'm looking for an old game to play through!

Thanks for commenting on pretty much every other video, it's been a delight.

  • Thanks for doing these, very informative and a lot of fun :)

  • And thank you for watching! It was my pleasure. :D

  • or remake of the old ones

  • It could happen - just look at Monkey Island special edition!

  • Somewhat anti-climatic! What a wonderful game though, I wonder if we shall ever see another Discworld game in our time?

...It's a million to one chance, but we just might!

  • I hope we do. It doesn't have to feature Lewton or Rincewind, but it would be really nice just to stroll around on the Disc once more, rubbing random objects against each other in the hopes of progressing further!
