@Eternalshadowgamer It's a running gag that's been going on for a LONG time, since before and after "Muppets Take Manhattan" that the Kermit/Piggy relationship is kept deliberately ambiguous. Piggy often claims they're married, but not always. Kermit's response to the question varies. It's been going on since long before Disney -- even in "Muppets Take Manhattan" the famous wedding wasn't a real wedding, but part of a Broadway musical the Muppets put on.
@creeper49 more than just a few times, and a lot more than just as a reporter. He was an icon of the show and one of the main characters. On every episode in various skits and roles.
No the muppets are not the same without Jim and Frank, but I think it is still important that The Muppets stay around. Our world wouldn't be the same without them.
As for Eric Jacobson, I think he needs a little more time to work on Fozzie's voice. I have every bit of faith that he will improve in these next few years. I mean, Frank didn't always sound like Frank. If you go back to the Muppet Show season 1, you'll notice that Frank's Fozzie sounded alot like Eric's Fozzie sounds right now. Wait and see guys. I know it's not what we're used to, but in time you'll learn to appriciate it for what it is.
I was always very pleased with Steve's performance as Kermit. He had a little trouble at first but since then he's gotten better and made it his own. You gotta give the guy a break. He had some BIG friggen' shoes to fill. You don't think Jimmy MacDonald had alot of pressure when he took over as Mickey Mouse?
Voices are awful....especially Kermit's. Come on! It can't be that hard to find someone who can do a decent Kermit voice and a little improv. He's just one of the most imitated voices ever.
From a personal point of view, I frankly don't care who is doing Kermit's voice, it's way wayyyyy off. It's not even close to Kermit's voice on Sesame Street or The Muppet Show. That's my reference and, I assume, most people's reference as well.
Yeah Kermit isnt the same without Jim, but it actually would be pretty good if his new voice would have studied Jim's way if pronunciation a little more carefully, especially the way he always pronounced "the" and "a"
Veggie Monster doesn't exist. That was only a wild rumor.
Cookie Monster is still around and he still eats cookies, its just that he now also eats fruits and vegetables because they want to promote healthy eating habits.
I know, its seems unnecessary, but heck, He is willing to eat anything, really.
@jelliegurl86 You're 24 so that means you were a toddler when Jim Henson died. This should be the kermit the frog you know. I'm old enough to remember the Jim Henson tribute special where everyone heard Kermit's new voice for the first time. Your complaint is baseless.

This interview is bad. I'm a super fan of the Muppets, but Kermit sounds like someone else completely and Fozzie only has the right voice part of the time. Totally lame.
No matter how old you are, you will never get old enough to drop The Muppets! ;D

I know all this, love, thanks. Hasn't got anything to do with my opinion on the current voices, though.
And thanks a lot giving me thumbs down for this, lads. Truly shows your age. (not meant for you, TutDtUt)
PurpleVolvagia 3 years ago
Well, its certainly better than just retiring the characters. Considering how long the Muppets have been around, changes are bound to happen.
Jim wanted them to continue using Kermit even after he was gone.

old voices rocked, this is terrible
PurpleVolvagia 3 years ago
Well, the original performer of Kermit was Jim Henson, and he passed away years ago.
And the original performer of Fozzie, Frank Oz, has retired from Muppet work.
So its impossible to have the originals.
Besides, the performer of Kermit from this video, Steve Whitmire has been performing Kermit since the early 90s.
And Eric Jacobson has been performing Fozzie since 2002.
