Lovely! I love this music! It's the soundtrack from my childhood! As a boy growing up in the 1950s in Los Angeles, I saw most of Hal Roach's classic comedies on television when they were first shown on TV. Those unforgettable, beautiful melodies by Leroy Shield and Marvin Hatley continue to float through my mind today, over 50 years later! Thank God for the Beau Hunks!
The term "big band" is only half descriptive and the term "jazz" is also, but neither are "wrong" as you hoped to enforce.
"Big band" as a description will have a large ensemble like this, but that in and of itself is no description of the form played.
And, who might I ask is "they" in your statement "they would never call it jazz"? Both the Hunks & Shield's orchestra would laugh you outta town if you think they'd agree with you.
i just can't tell you what a huge kick I get out of seeing my fave group play these wonderdul songs!!! I own 4 Beau Hunks CD's and play them constantly!! I was even sent a thanks and regards note from one of the musicians through Basta Music. I framed it!!!!
The great, Jazz inspired novelty tunes in the Hal Roach comedies is largely what introduced me as a VERY young boy to my lifelong love of Jazz. I love what Beau Hunks has done to keep this alive.
We have the "Rascals" cd and it sure puts you in a more gentler time and brings a smile to ones face and heart! Great music to take along in the car and it reduces the stress of traffic! So glad we were brought up on music and shows like this, kids don't know what their missing, now a days. Ah memories..eh?!!!
TGFYT! Great stuff! I bet Ebay has a demand for Beau Hunks music. I won't sell my CD. Gotta luv um! And watchin Little Rascals on Youtube is great! I wish they'd put the gang on DirecTV again. Sure miss um, Kids need something good like this to watch on TV.
Have both the "Rascals" CDs. I used to tell my friends that if someone ever put out a CD with the Little Rascals music I would buy in in a second. Saw this back in the store in 1994 and bought it on the spot with having heard it. Its an invaluable part of my music collection on sheer memory/sentimental value alone. Thanks Beau Hunks!

I've collected all the Beau Hunks CDs, but never saw a video of the band till now.
I can't get enough of Leroy Shield's music - could anything be happier or more charming? On With The Show!
