David Brooks is a conservative who brought liberalism to the Bush's administration 9.4 trillion did not happen in thin air ....Now we have Obama taking it to another level NOTHING CHANGES IN D.C.
we can't afford to police the world, we can't affort the welfare or warfare state, ron paul is correct, we must change soon or die - frankly, we will die - too many ignorant people voting
Conservatism simply means to keep something as it is (or in this case, to return it to as it was). If your focus is on returning to a constitutional, limited government that emphasizes freedom and independence, like Paul, then you are in fact BOTH a conservative and a libertarian. The former representing the direction of the change and the latter referring to what you're changing to. Progressive and conservative, like change, have no meaning until you understand the axis on which they operate.
To elaborate on progressive vs. conservative, it's easy to for progressives to label conservatives as wanting to "take a step backward" and to equate that with something ill-desired or bad. But sometimes going back is good if where you've gone is not. Sometimes going forward is bad if where you're headed can only be worse than where you are. "Change" sounds good on its own when things are going to Hell, but just any change without any elaboration could be the last thing you need.
Dude, you obviousily havn't listening to Michael Savage if you think he's a shill for Bush. Hannity, yes. Limbaugh, yes. But Savage? My goodness, no way! Savage is a renegade all the way.
Down w/ the neocons! They are NOT conservatives. And since when does ANY conservative take advice or guidance from a shill for the NY Slimes? It's time for the Republicrat Party to go into the ashcan of history. DON'T SIMPLY VOTE DEMOCRAT! Rationalizing about wasting your vote DOESN'T work; if you simply choose the best of 2 turds, you wind up electing a turd. STOP WHINING ABOUT IT & GET YOURSELVES SUPPORTING A STRONG CONSERVATIVE 3RD PARTY! Ron Paul endorsed Baldwin for the Constitution Party.
Well said. I became eligible to vote in 1999. I am a conservative through and through, but have pulled the lever for the democratic party every time, (for president, that is) because the republican party does not have conservative values anymore. We MUST go back to the fiscal conservatism of independent-America. Now that close to 51% of our assets are foreign owned, how independent are we really? And by the way, if anyone needs a bailout, it is not corporate america, it is our state govts.
DON'T SIMPLY VOTE DEMOCRAT! Rationalizing about wasting your vote DOESN'T work; if you simply choose the best of 2 turds, you wind up electing a turd. STOP WHINING ABOUT IT & GET YOURSELF SUPPORTING A STRONG CONSERVATIVE 3RD PARTY! Ron Paul endorsed Baldwin for the Constitution Party; Paul was good on fiscal cons. matters & SO WAS BALDWIN! He needed the votes of conservatives like yourself; instead you voted for an Afro-centrist Marxist like Obama? WTF? W/ conservatives like U who needs ACORN?
It has been proven by the worlds top psycoanalysts, that people who type in upper case letters are mentally retarded. With this in mind, how can anyone believe anything you write? Seek psycological counselling and come back when you are a little more educated. Good luck.
Psychoanalysts don't "prove" anything. They merely poke at grey matter with a sharp stick. Maybe you could speak up when you talk out of your ass, or try the caps button.
It also should be obvious for the GOP, which boasts to be more pro-military, to support the GOP candidate that got the most money from active duty military...
It amazes me that Pat Buchanan, who has been so accurate and insightful throughout his long career, is still attacked by moderate pygmies like Krystol and Brooks.
FWIW since I actually listen to Rush regularly I can debunk your allegation. Rush has broken with Bush early and often, and was very much against McCain until closing ranks after the convention for the sake of the nation. After the debacle of course he has no reason to support McCain further.
what Rush are you listening to? Rush does nothing but talk up Republicans and critize Democrate like there is a hairs difference between the two.
I hope the Republican party dies for the lies and corporate ties its told and had for the past 15 years and the Democrate party falls shotly after for its wreaking the family and children..
Rush is not a conservative, he's a republican. In case you hadn't noticed, there is quite a difference.
That loud-mouthed retard supports whoever he's told to. That's why he flip-flopped off both Bush and McCain. Cause he doesn't think for himself, and has terrible foresight.
That's why people call him a "comedian," because his political insight is about as savvy as a fart joke.
what about rush limbaugh? He has gone along with Bush for the past 8 years, but now that Obama won, he seems to be starting to turn back to his conservative ways.
I was hoping the butt kicking the gop took this fall would wake them up to the points made by the SA. Of course, my gut told me that the GOP hacks would do what they are doing now: spew out more of the same old neo-con crap.
We need a real conservative presidential candidate in 2012. I supported Buchanan in 96, Paul in 08 and I really like Mark Sanford in 2012!
Sanford sounds good but I dont hes the least bit interested and i would not be either. what true Carolina patriot would want to be emperor of the forced union called usa?
And now you've got liberals going around saying that the last 8 years proves conservatism has failed, when in actual fact, just like the financial system has never been free market, George Bush has never been true conservative.
Yes, funny how words have been flipped upside down. I think they call that "doublethink." When sheeple hear the word conservatism, they think Bush, Cheney and greedy warmongering religious zealots which is clearly wrong. People have to start understanding what that word (and other terms for that matter) really mean. The first step is TURN OFF THE TV!! It puts you into a dream state and pumps lie after lie into your highly suggestible brain until you accept lies as automatic truth.
hear here ! Great Job southernavenger. I find it interesting that those corrupt and reckless supporters of the wolves in sheeps clothing, such as brooks and hanity, etc.etc. are useing "similar phraseology" that were used by great men such as Congressman Paul. We need to keep educating those around us one by one. "MASSES" are now working harder and smarter. Do not let up avenger. Keep up the good work. You are not alone.
Yeah, I was watching CNN and they were actually saying that if we continue to embrace traditional conservatism, that the party would continue to destroy its self.
As a Ron Paul supporter, it felt like I was in bizzaro world.
Great .....*****, We need to start The New Republican Party and dump the Neoconservative Punk, KKK and Anti-US Constitution, Patric Act supporters .
Problem being , How do we stop the Nazi's from the Heritage Fund from joining the New Republican Movement and using the New Party to continue there attacks on the Constitution?
One thing that I think we all can agree on is that the GOP and its biggest hacks need to stop painting educated people as "elitist." Conservatives have to be educated. It's silly to shun intellectualism and then try to debate someone in the political world, which requires a lot of intellect and research for an actually credible argument. Knee-jerk reactions don't work on us educated folks.
At one point in American history, both the Democratic & Republican parties existed as one before splitting, the Democratic-Republican Party.
Although the D-R party of old had better ideologies, the merging ideologies of the modern liberals (Democrats) & neoconservatives (Republicans) is something to fear as both will & are progressing to ruining America.
I want to say that I really appreciate your commentary on politics. Your commentary is dead on with how I feel with many issues. Glad to see others voted for Chuck Baldwin
I'm reminded of something that Limbaugh brought up in the days soon after Obama won the election. He essentially argued as you argue - that being moderate or more like Liberals is NOT going to help Republicans; only going back to being Conservatives will strengthen the party and allow Republicans to get back in office.
The problem is that the two parties are essentially one and they want to steer us down a path they want us to go down. We have to get over the fear tactics of this system and vote third party.
