Because the pain and injuries he had taken in the ring were forcing him to take painkillers and prescription drugs which caused the heart failure. As for benoit, years of taking excruciating bumps in the ring, many of which gave him concussions, combined with taking testosterone to try and help him heal from testicular damage caused him to snap and lose his sanity.
