There once was a guy from Lauder the I became pally with. Over 40 years on, were still pals and ain't I luck to hav had the chance to listen to and sometimes share in his music. Mair po'er tae yir elbae, Mike!
Remember seeing Mike play at Moffat Honkey Tonk(now flats!)in 1978ish. He blew the place away with his brill sounds. Even came back to my mates after the show and played some more......... top man!
mike played at my local pub last nite absolute blew my socks off, top notch guy, just makes you wanna go learn how to play, also a true gent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Mike this is far out, I'm a busker in Belfast would to know how you set up your mic for your harp, I'm thinkin of buying a busker amp to give my act a lift, but I'd love to use a little mic for my harp. how'd you do that
Mike uses an old AKG drum mic (maybe a C418 or C518)which he's messed about with and attached to the harp harness himself. He normally runs that directly to the mixer. He also sometimes uses a 'green bullet' which can sound great plugged direct into a guitar amp or the mixer but it's a lot heavier and not so good if you need your hands free to play guitar.
Hi Mike, you were the first guy I ever saw playing electric guitar in a folk club. That was The Gowanbank Hotel around 72/73 when I was on the bill as well.
That night you played the lost fox train thingy on the harmonica and its a coincidence that I heard it yesterday on Paul Jones R and B show.
bestmode harp playing
