  • "Music from a dead world." If u read the book, you'll get it

  • what pier is that on 7.33

  • God, could Molly Ringwald suck more?

  • Did she say canvas or candles?

  • THE GOOD GUY GETS THE GIRL!!!! :D yayyy boo for the bad guys

  • Molly Ringwald didn't do a terrible job, but she definitely couldn't hold her own with Sinise and the other stars in this movie (even Rob Lowe, in my opinion). I love the song at the beginning though, its perfect

  • "its my father.. im gonna bury him in his garden.. if u couldnt tell by my horrible acting... hes dead.... yep... im tired... and hot.... can u do it?"

  • Honestly, I half expected to hear either "The End from The Doors or Paint It Black from The Rolling Stones. What the hell was that crap on the record?

  • I remember my local radio station doing "The Stand updates" after each part and nice line here: "Molly Ringwald buries her father while singing Amazing Grace. What I want to know is, who's the amazing idiot who cast her in this? Sorry, Molly, you were Pretty in Pink but you stink in the Stand."

  • I love the songs they use at the beginning of each part. The first one is "Don't Fear the Reaper", this one is "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House, I wonder which one they use in the 3rd one...

  • Now is it just me or a week ago when the father first got sick was the house NOT covered in climbing ivy?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Was it supposed to be a week ago when the last installment happened? I got the impression some time had past and that the sickness caused the father to stop working on the house.

  • @mattd687 I get that impression too but it's only supposed to be about a week or so that passes from when we see him in the garden to when Fran's burying him.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 That is a funny observation. This movie sucks but I watch it every year. Why???

  • harold is supposed to be a fat 16 year old kid, but this movie casts the dude from Parker Lewis?

  • Am I the only one who was creeped out by Fran sewing her father into a body bag? I know the whole show is in general very creepy but that especially...I don't know, just something about it.

  • Corin Nemec and Molly Ringwald are miscast... still a great show

  • megabucks lottery makes me laugh every time

  • ha thats the guy who was in stargate sg1 for a while ..what a dick

  • Man, the dialogue in this section is so stilted. At least Tears for Fears comes to save the day.

  • @noncontradiction That's Crowded House, not Tears for Fears.

  • Iech. I love this series but I can't stand Molly Ringwald.

  • thx again

  • "Harold, we're always going to be friends". Why don't you just kick him right in the nuts, eh?

  • Wish it wouldnt happen like this, but I think I am like Lauder. Gaaaaah

  • thnx man

  • I used to live where this part of the movie was filmed. Every time I walked by the Nubble Lighthouse I would think of "Don't Dream It's Over" Watching this again, though, I wonder: did Molly Ringwald actually READ The Stand? Too much '90s Valley Girl and not enough Seacoast grit...

  • i got the extended version of the book, which is awesome its only a few extra dollars, but now im going like "wtf?!" every two seconds cause so much is cut out from the book lol.

  • You know what I realized- if this was true and all the humans did die, then the world would end in nuclear holocaust, as all of the nuclear power plants all over the world would explode as they would be be able to cool and be maintained.

  • @tylertyler82

    and so starts fallout 3

  • oh..fuck thats kinda..fucked up...

Harold we're always gonna be friends...

    dam..

  • @MultiLapislazuli i know shes such a bitch lol

  • harold...looks like one of the people who stars in the movie "IT" also made by stephen kings..

  • @krafty5 hahaa ya : ( sad part though, but funny that dr. K is dead even though we c him on scrubs

  • Poor Dr. Kelso

  • Fran carrying the body: "It's my Father"...noooo its the fucking Milkman! Lol & kind regards :)

  • frans singing killed her dad

  • Epic acting at 2:30 - 2:47. Wow! I can totally feel her pain. Mwuuhahaha!!!

  • The guy who plays Harold used to star in an early 90's show called Parker Lewis, thought he was kind of cute, he was also in Toby Keith's song Wiskey For My Men, Beer For My Horses.

  • 6:10...you got to be kidding me..."The Breakfast club" flash back...

  • You cant blame Harold for trying, after all it could be the end of the world but people will still be wanting sex.

  • Now, thats a great song

  • yea..harold was actually supposed to be a very fat kid covered in acne, but this guy did do a good job as playing him.

  • Harold was the one that brought the gift to Frannie.

  • i thought they drank cool aid not lemonade?!

  • harold may have started with a boyhood crush but (to me at least) he turned really creepy really fast.

  • frannies supposed to look alot different =(

  • poor harold just wants to get his cock wet

  • I can't stand Frannie, never liked her at all, I always hoped Harold would merk her at some point in the book, ungrateful whore. And they absolultey RUINED Harold in this movie so far, he was supposed to be fat on purpose, it showed why he acted in some ways like he did, if he was skinny and attractive he would have been able to get women in real life and the jealousy of Fran would not have been as intense. Bastards ruin every movie. Like the 10 minute jail scene with nick, dumb waste of film.

  • @corning1 Ungrateful whore? She should be obliged to be with someone she is not into because he has feelings for her? I think she is kind of irritating, especially at the end, but Harold is creepy, with a pinch of making up for something missing. Proud peacock strut with no tail-feathers.

  • @corning1 Stephen king directed this movie, retard. Why is she an ungrateful whore? Harold is one creepy bastud.

  • Great movie!!! Thank you very much for the upload :)

Btw, does anyone know the title of that song???

  • @MrWildboy94 Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House

  • @brunette427 Love the song

  • @brunette427 Do you mean the military base intro one by the Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't fear the reaper"

  • Did Frances sing Amazing Grace in the book? Did she become Christian? I thought the character was Jewish.

  • @TheFlanker35 She is Jewish lol so that is weird

  • @brunette427 They sometimes call 'em "Jews For Jesus" =P

  • @brunette427 she was not Jewish in the book, though. I think her family was Presbaterian (or how ever you spell that)

  • @brunette427 Don't forget - she kept saying "daddy" to remind you the dead body is that of her father for the stupid reader/viewer!

  • @TheFlanker35 I think it is because it is a common funeral song and so sets the scene. I don't know too much about Jewish funerals, but a majority of the audience would most likely associate "Amazing Grace" with a death.

  • @anissen24,

Yeah, I guess it has become a general funeral song even though it has very Christian, specifically Protestant, themes(other religions don't believe that grace saves). One of the themes of the story was the importance of religious values that transcend any particular religion, a sort of spiritual humanism or universalism so I guess that makes sense. This is really apparent when they compare Flagg to the spirit in Children of the Corn.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFlanker35 She was not Christian in the book, She was Pregnant by her Boyfriend "Jess" at the begining and Harold Lauder was 16. The book is so much different than the movie its crazy.

  • @TheFlanker35 Amazing Grace is just a beautiful song...and believe me..having served in the military..you don't find many atheists or non believers when it comes to life and death. plausible...for this part.

  • @TheFlanker35

you'll find a lot of details vary from the book, which changes some of the characters

  • @TheFlanker35 no she doesnt sing and she buries her father alone. also harold in the book is fat covered in zits is a fucking weirdo and is 16. im reading the book for the first time and i have to say it iis much better then this. but its still nice that they made it

  • This is the only way to make Stephen King books into film. They're just too intricate to be properly adapted into a 2 hour movie. I heard a horrifying rumor that they're going to make the dark tower books into a trilogy...

  • @heavyd1313 that might be a good thing if it's only the first 3 books....I really don't want to see the 4th or any after in film...or in print ever again

  • Much as I enjoy the series, I think they should have kept Rita and Nadine as two separate characters.

  • 5:29 Poor Harold.... Last man on earth and still can't get laid...

  • i like the song is awesome!

  • what is that song they play on the record? its killing me to know

  • @nickkk143 Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House

  • I can't imagine the horror of having to bury your own dad. Geezus.

  • I do like this but I mean come on can you get some better actors......

    No sense of grief.

They seem to be happy and care free.

    This is just bad.

  • @MultiLegoDude I always had a problem with Molly Ringwald as Frannie. Frannie (in the book) was a much stronger person than this. Corin Nemec as Harold was good, but his character development wasn't as strong.

  • @whatuswattingat yep, in the book the character's physical transformation is much more dramatic than in the mini-series. In the book, he's a total fat slob who is covered in acne. He gradually becomes much better looking as the book goes on. The actor, Corin Nemec, does a fine job though. I'm not wild about Molly Ringwald though.

  • @Luba72 Yeah, Harold was always my favorite character, even if he turned out to be a bad guy. I just know what it's like feeling unattractive and having someone you love not even give you a fair chance and give her heart to someone else (in my case, another woman).

  • omg THANX SOOOO MUCH FOR UPLOUDING I CANT FIND THIS STAND ON THE INTERET ANY WERE LOVE THIS IT US TO GIVE ME NIGHT MARES AS A KID

  • Is it just me or does she seem pretty upbeat and chipper for just burying her dad in the garden earlier that day..bouncing around playing records, making lemonade and skipping out to the other room to grab the record player. O.o

  • Why is Harold wearing that stupid jacket? It's the middle of summer!

He looks like David Bowie's nerdy character in the "Blue Jean" video

  • Aooww, he looks like a nervous shy little boy in 7:11. lawls x3

  • I liked her dad, he was a good character. They killed him off too soon =(

  • strange how a government keeps society together but at some point just completley fucks it up.

  • Isn't the guy who plays Harold the same one who played Jonas Quinn in Stargate SG1? :P

  • @sludgiebear Yes.

  • in the book, it's a Leif Garret song and the line "music from a dead world" follows.

  • Sorry, Harold.... Even if you ARE the last guy on Earth....

  • Molly Ringwald, a nerd, and 80's song. Feels like I'm watching a John Hughes film, lol. This version of Harold is just your basic funny nerd character that we've all seen a 1000 times on Saved By the Bell, etc. In the book, Harold was much creepy and disturbed.

  • @MeatballsMarlowe Yes. Although I loved the mini-series, I wished that some of the character development was stronger in some areas.

  • A disease center of Vermont? Is he mad?

  • It's parker lewis!

  • 4:39.

He was thinking, "Ah fuck! I was gonna say we repopulate the world!"

  • Ugh. Harold is a good character, but really he's disgusting. Zit covered, obsessive, emotional teenager that writes cheesy stories and masturbates all night.

  • I always thought that Harold Lauder was the character that King most indentified with, when I was reading the book.

  • Haha there the Last two ppl On Earth & she still Says NO........

  • Harold looks like a young Ron Howard (poor bastard!)

  • You know the guy who is playing Harold is really quite a hotty if you take away the dorky hairdo, fake zits, glasses and high pants. Wonder why Fran didn't try a make over ?

  • @fangiosfriend I agree

  • @brunette427 i knewei wasn't the only one. without the glasses andaccent i bet he is totally hot. i pictured harold as a fat slob type guy.

  • He was on Stargate SG one for one season. :-)

  • @fangiosfriend omg i kno i was thinking the same thing

  • @fangiosfriend aww he looks nice when he takes off his glasses. :3

  • @fangiosfriend a hotty but a bit of a dork....no?

  • @fangiosfriend but he's a really smart guy

  • @fangiosfriend lol Yeah, Corin Nemec is a lot better looking than the book's Harold.

  • @fangiosfriend

Cause he's also not at all confident, is a manipulative douchebag and retains zero skills for the real world.

  • You know the guy who is playing Harold is really quite a hotty if you take away the dorky hairdo, fake zits, glasses and high pants. Wonder why Fran didn't try a make over ?

  • rofl crowded house go hard NZ

  • Serious memory high, from that song "don't dream it's over" by Crowded House Love it!

    Thank you!

  • Why is Harold such a dork? I mean like som thin dork... i thought he was supposed to be fat and have long hair or something..

  • I have always had a soft spot(a small one)for Harold. Poor schmuk was in love...

He was so easily manipulated for such a smart guy

  • The worst demonstration of the characters are Harold and Fran. I mean, it looks like there was no fat guy who could play Harold [sorry, that sounds rude D: ] .. and Fran's acting is just terrible.

  • Molly Ringwald's acting in this movie is cringeworthy....

  • I'm wondering why they focus on the bear at 7:30. That isn't the same thing that was tossed out of the car when they were escaping that base in the beginning of the movie was it? If it was, that would be pretty cool.

  • Well, I reckon Peter's corpse is the lightiest one I've ever seen.

And Ringwald is terribly awful.: "Harold, It's a great idea" spelled as toneless as a body snatcher. :P

  • saw that too! i think ringwald's the only actor not suited for this film. wonder how she got the part? lol

  • wow a record player. i havnt seen one of those in years.lol

  • it skipped a whole bunch of stuff...

what about when her and harold first meet with her dad in the gardn??

Not to complain, just saying.... I found thatt whole part boring anyways!! LOL

  • the plague section has 13 parts.

  • Harold was supposed to be fat and like really annoying,,

    I don't think it's good casting

  • I agree. I think the only fit actors in this are for Stu, Nick, and Flagg.

  • @cmk211s

    I also liked Starkey

  • WOW!!!! 45s!!!!

  • what on earth was the thumbs down on this for???

  • franny is jewish? she made a joke about jewish flu remedy, but I don't think she is. Is the actress? How is that song christian? Goldsmith sounds anglo to me.

  • in the movie she is. Goldsmith is jewish. myspace says she's Cath? the song is in Chr hymnals.

  • haha...they are listening to 80s music...good song though i wont lie:D

  • Wicked tune!!!

    Really fits that scene...

Same with the short story.... SK wrote a short story about the "captin trips" flu and the end of the world. Can't remember the name, of the story, but it was WAY GOOD!!

  • @blupheonix44 i like to know if you can remember

  • "Night surf" in "NIGHT SHIFT" book, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Yup, it was night surf..... AWESOME story!!! =)

Supposedly, that was one of the stories that inspired "The Stand".

  • i just bought the uncut version a few days ago...it is going to take me forever to finish that damn book, but it is well worth it. one of stephen kings finest...if not the best one i have read so far. the creepiest stories, imo...are the ones that are most plausible...and the scenario in The Stand really is:| biological warfare...its not that hard to fathom unfortunately.

  • The Stand uncutismy favorite book I have ever read, youl love it. After you are done with the book you should listen to Among The Living By: Anthrax

  • why is there some weird ass connection lol

  • bloodycape200, it's already here. seen what's happening in Ukraine w the black lung plague? google it. it is NOT swine flu. crop dusters come, then people get sick & die in days.

  • Seriously??

  • its very easy to google. search ukraine plague & see what comes up

  • This is wierd, I read about this a couple months ago, apparently a mossad agent leaked info about an upcoming planned outbreak in the Ukraine, and there you have it.........

  • dont no about that. but it just goes to show u that wars r planned

  • @mrsgoatlady77 you got it in one there

  • hey its doc kelso! and parker lewis

this is nowhere near as good as the book

  • Did anybody see Family Guy's take on three Stephen King stories. This would be a cool one, albeit long. Stewie as Randall Flagg...

  • dude send me a link

  • OMG YES!!!! LMAO!

  • Why do they always have nerds that aren't really nerds?

  • I love the Crowded House song - fitting for the flu aftermath.

  • damn this is a loooong movie.....lol

  • Yeah. My sister and I spent the entire day watching it on TV years ago.

  • it's really such an interesting movie that it makes me want to buy the books.

  • Read the book, absolutely amazing!

  • not even close to the book version of harold...or the way they ended up coming together and leaving ogunquit

  • okay whoever the hell plays fran is one shite actor....you may as well ahve swhot her holding the fucking script whilst recording

  • molly ringwald, apparently incredibly popular back then

  • The actress from Fran is a real letdown. Then again, I was never really a fan of the bitch (the character) in the first place lol. If not for her, Harold might have been a better guy! Or maybe not.

  • thats the lightest dead body ive ever seen

  • where is the name of the last song of the video?

  • Don't Dream It's Over

  • wow, i haven't heard that song in a long time. forgot how good it is..lol. good memories

  • Quite true.

  • Ha her boyfriends dead, move in on it Harold.

  • @This1Affliction I thought that old dude was her dad....i should pay attention lol

  • It was either that song or Rick Astley. This was just more sensitive and right for the moment. But I would have gone with the latter.
