Aw fisher directed this with VBODA District XV 2010. He said we were his favorite ensemble to play the piece...but he probably said that to everyone lol
Haha we played this last year. Friggen Bass Clarinet and Saxophone parts are intense. It was so fun to play!! Like the part at 2:02. I had a blast with that.
It's kind of funny when the woodwinds outblow the brass. That should never happen. EVER. Brass are able to drown out the woodwinds when they're allowed to.
And XylussN, younger kids can be better than college students, and the right conductor can make sure it sounds good at many age levels. AND they could've practiced for 2 years, though I doubt that.
@ theyupifiedjuli we had richard floyd as our clinician which is probably the next best thing to having mackey since mackey was influenced a lot by mr. Floyd and he was amazing. The bass clarinet feature at D is cool how mackey used the basses instead of normal clarinets so he could get the nasally sound from the upper register. It's just a fantastic song. You might like another mackey piece called Redline Tango. Our top band is playing it this year.
@hchsband2007 yea. i love the bass clarinet part (yes i play bass clarinet). im so glad we had the chance to play this. IM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG! percussion has great parts too
My band is playing this song for contest this year and I get to play the English Horn part it is probably THE coolest i've ever had the privilege of doing while being in band. I'm so excited!!!

not bad. it was reallly loud though. or maybe thats just because our director made us control ourselves because we did it for UIL and he didnt want to offend the judges...
other than speeding up in the end(?) i thought it was really pretty good.

Trombone Solo was good...though it could have been more vicious and more intense. Overall it wasn't a bad performance. Good job.
