I have an employment opportunity available at my company. It's a hip-hop record label; so, I am looking to build a street team of professionals to help me make my business a success. I am looking for Public Relations Counselors, Marketing Representatives, Lawyers, Songwriters, e.t.c. Send inquiries to Atheos Records, LLC. You can search me over the internet. As long as you got an Associates degree I will hire you as an independent contractor. Applicants who live in Miami, FL need only apply!!!!
Sometimes I wish I went to an HBCU. I was very involved in the black community at my school but it wasn't quite the same. And I'm interested in top schools for my graduate degree as well so it seems that opportunity has evaded me.
thats the reason I went to an HBCU looking at a different world but it change my life.... anywho go to grad school girl.... when you get out you will be a benefit Im 25 and Im almost done with my master degree.... good job two thumbs up with HBCU's they made me better
congrats on returing to school. I have return to school. and I will be continuing my path. We may have crossed paths in Atlanta. I will look up babson as you said. I would also like to learn all I can about business ownership. God speed to you tonya for folling your dreams and being an inspiration.
that's peace... i am attending N.C. A&T S.U. now...at 39!!!! I'm from a low-income/housing background and you would not believe the journey that brought me here but I'm glad I'm here!!!!
From one HBCU grad to another...I am so proud of you! Making the decision to continue your education is a great one and a challenging one. You will do extremely well!
I respectfully disagree in the obtaining an education at any school in US for Black people unless we can attend for FREE because the library teaches you for free if you learn to research the material you are interested in yourself.I find when we go to these schools we subject ourselves back to slavery because we have no sense of buy and sell...that it what business is all about.Once we obtain this so-called degree we still go to find a job instead of us starting our own businesses.
The library is funded by tax dollars and the "learning" you get at the library is what you actually get on your own. In school there is a curriculum, teachers and other set standards. If someone wants to learn how to run and operate an business then they would be best suited to attend a school like mine with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.
I respectfully disagree with that statement because when you say entrepreneurship you must first have a product to sell.If one expects to sell say lemonade. You must have land to grow lemons and sugar cane.Which one is subject if the price rose from 2 cent per lemon to 2 dollars per lemon.Same concept with sugar cane.Which means you as entrepreneur have NO control over these prices unless you OWNED the land. And I applaud you for increaseing your knowledge by the way.
We as a people really need to wake up and smell the coffee because we are consumers because of our mind set which I call SLAVE MIND!!!Other cultures come to US without any degree and become rich because of the skills they posess and understanding of buy and sell which is international except in US.Plus "they" have made it a crime for Black Men to care for their black families unless the are pushing a broom, being a doorman,or doing some back breaking job like a trash man.
And if we sell dope we are subject to our own BLACK sistas (who we love dearly) going to the authorities on their brothas after he just put food in the house,a ring on her finger, clothes on her back and the kids,a new car,and giving her moms some bread for her pockets. Then when he's in jail doin that time she forgets about him, doesnt visit and tells the kids "Your daddy wasnt no DAMN good anyway".If we do try to go the right way the sistas dont want us because we stay broke for tryin to do right
Also thec so-called church want to make BLACK MEN spineless which is the reason 90% of chuch is women with the pastor(master) downgrading these men "In the name of GOD"...And dont let brothas get a WHITEGIRL" because he has been dissed by his sistas OMG!!! They will tell you "You are a disgrace to the Black race hugging on that "DAMN WHITEGIRL" However I see the finest sistas with WHITEBOYS and thangs talkin about Brothas dont treat me right.WAKE UP!!! BLACK FOLKS!!! HOLLA!!!! JUDAH
You are the woman I should have become...from one black woman to another...I am proud of you. I live through you in some ways. I appreciate and admire you. Of all the people to represent "us" you are definately my first pick. When the outside world come here and view "us" for the sake of curiousity, may your videos be the first they see and not some booty-hoppin, swivel-head, ignorant trash the world in and out wants to believe that we are. Much love to you and yours.
Congratulations and good luck with your studies. I know what's it like to be in your shoes. Just remember that the blood, sweat and tears are worth it in the end if that's what it takes. Hmmm, now do I really want to continue on with my PhD? Time will tell :)
I was actually considering an HBCU for my graduate, but I am sure the experience would be more classroom base compared to undergrad, when you are given that social setting. I dunno. But congratulations Tonya!
(Dsclsrstmt:I am new to the youtube website pls bare with me): Tonya You make very important statements and I like them ,and they have encouraged me to move forward in my own educational goals. I wish you the best in grad school. I am glad that you have decided to refine your own skills so that you can open your own door, using collective help of course. I hope to see you with what you strive for.
YAY!!!!!! omg i miss talking to you! we have to catch back up and i have to let you know the gossip with my curch i told you about.. but anway!! i cant wait till you get your own talk show are somthing lol :) love ya and get good grades okay :)
Great news and thanks for posting a video even though you are now busy with re-begining your education.
I think you'll do well, team projects can be intimidating though and I have been on some real doozies. Just about the time you think you have working within teams and conflict resolution down to a science, someone or something will throw a monkey wrench into the works.
I received an AA degree after two years in a tech school back in the 80's and now wrapping up an online Bachelor degree.
I've been planning my education and career for the last couple of months. I can't really afford a good college so I have to go to community college. Didn't do to well in high school, even though I got good grades it was because of my attendance...so no scholarships either. So now I have to work really hard to go to school but i'm going to do it, all I want is to push myself up to upper middle class, higher would be great.
Education is the only option for long term success, you go Tonya!
Don't worry about doing community college v. ivy league, just get you education on and you'll pave your road to success.
I have run into many students looking to simply "check off a box" on an application in regards to their goal for obtaining an education. I was like that when I pursed my AA, I wasn't like that when I went after my BA...I wanted to expand my mind and push limits and I did, I learned a lot from it.
Plot that course Captain and plow straight ahead come what may!
MBA is the move right now! Congrats girl. I agree I went to an HBCU as well and if I decide to go to Grad, I'd like to go to University of Maryland. We'll see.
Good for you Tonya! I want to make that move also. My daughter is going to UGA in the fall. She had some reserves about all black college. She was looking for a more diverse school and a larger campus. My niece on the otherhand, plans to go to a HBCU. Again congrats and I wish u well.
congrates I hope I can become something in my life but with the gov taking away our rights and freedom I know its only a dream and I must gt ready for a war that I can not win but will do what i can to protect my family

Hey Tonya! Congrats on doing what you want to do! Definitely admiring you for that! Like you, I wanted to go to an HBCU primarily b/c I grew up watching the Cosby Show, Diff'rent World, etc...but then I thought it'd be too much of a culture shock for me, considering I grew up being the only black..or one of two or three blacks in my classrooms. Im going to send you a message b/c you just remind me to stay inspired. Be on the look out for my message.
Very cool. I'm actually in my final semester of undergrad. Good to see that you can jump right back into the heat of things like that; most people find it extremely difficult.
I'm just finishing my undergrad B.A. Honours with a specialization in sychology....and then hoping to get a PH.D. in Child/ Family Psychology....and you're right. You gotta be focused and be willing to put in the wok in order to acheive....but you know, if it's something you're passionate about, it's all worth it (and doesn't seem so hard, sometimes :P).
